  1. 780? Nice, joining the Bears. Will the games also be available on 105.9 FM?
  2. Clearly he's talking about Boston sports greats that have also won championships. Way to meatball, meatball.
  3. Stanton is basically the dream of what we hope one of those guys turns into. Exactly but in this scenario we get Stanton for 2 seasons. Is that worth selling out a lot of what has been built? It would be nice to add a bat like that, but it would be for a limited, short time improvement. If the Astros added Stanton would they be playoff contenders? of course not. Right now we are the worst team in baseball, its time some people stop thinking we are that close to winning. As far as Stanton goes, if we want him long term, it makes more sense to bring our guys along, and then try to get him as a free agent after 2016. He is the type of bat that could put us over the top, but we aren't close enough to the top yet. Holy hell, you think they'd trade for Stanton just to have him for two years and they'd have no desire to extend him? How could you possibly think that? Stanton is a 24-year old monster; he is exactly what this team needs. If he can be had without trading both Baez and Bryant the Cubs absolutely need to be in on it.
  4. 30 years old??? I guess we could use him for a year before flipping him for prospects. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nb-pTi4EzYM/TfrSOSgJ-vI/AAAAAAAAEdo/LOY4q9dF8_4/s640/LKKDSFAD.gif
  5. LET ME DRIVE THAT [expletive] CAR.
  6. I agree but I can see their point, everyone here are Cub fans so maybe that's where it comes from. But they are also presumably Blackhawks fans. You remember the Blackhawks, the team that has won two of the last four Cups and 12 playoff series in the last six years, including one against our biggest rival last year when they were down 3-1? But they are also Bears fans -- that team skating to the playoffs until their QB goes down in crushing fashion. And Bulls fans -- that team setting up for a multi-year run at the playoffs only to see it all ripped away mercilessly with injury. Twice. And Cubs fans. The reality of being a Cubs fan doesn't get wiped away by the Blackhawks winning a couple Cups. Only the ultimate can do that. Cut people some slack. All I'm saying. This post is the most amazingly punchable thing ever. I'm pretty sure this happened as I read it: http://gamemoir.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/renaldo-rage.gif And then I yearned to do this:
  7. Better put off any major moves until they're ready to compete. Whoops, now you're never making any major moves.
  8. Yes. Marginally. Trading some of our top talent for MLB talent would absolutely help, but cleaning out our top 5 for one player, even for a guy like Stanton, would be not be a prudent move. One player is not the difference right now, and imo, even if MLB talent is added, the Cubs need one or two of Baez/Bryant/Almora/Soler/Edawrds to make it. Though at some point, Stanton will be traded. Even if Miami were to make him a market value extension offer, I don't see any way he would accept it. They'll have to deal him sooner or later. Referring to previous conversation, Matt Kemp is a huge question mark at this point. Given his contract, I would be hesitant to give up much for him. Stanton is only 24.
  9. Yeah, no [expletive] trading for a great playing means dealing a lot of parts; it's one the reasons you want a good farm system, so don't give this garbage like they should get all gunshy now. [expletive], neely, you make me want to hurl things through things.
  10. http://31.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ly7ug6cVTd1r7uivno1_400.gif
  11. A bunch of them are all done up inside on all levels for parties. They'd still find plenty of suckers.
  12. I think it's pretty clear that the Cubs keeping this an issue is playing a part of keeping fans on the "no Sammy" side. They are playing up to the meatballs and thus feeding them more red meat, and making things worse. Talking about Sammy needing to do stuff to get back into the good graces of Ricketts & Co is just ridiculous and not the least bit helpful. They aren't handling this flawlessly, but it is a bit of a no-win situation. The media is going to ask, the contingent who want Sammy around will make some noise too, and "we want our nice PR events not to be marred by morons who will boo Sammy" is a hard sentiment to sanitize. When looking at any kind of promotional material since the Ricketts took over, be it retrospectives or giveaways or events or acknowledging former players and the like, the Cubs have actively minimized Sammy as much as possible short of just completely ignoring him. They could definitely be doing a LOT more, especially with all of the anniversary stuff, in terms of making him a part of the organization's history again even without inviting him or anything like that. Just remind people how awesome he was.
  13. OH MY GOD, WHO CARES ABOUT A BIT OF THE [expletive] BRICKS AND IVY. I hate this stupid [expletive] stadium and this stupid [expletive] city.
  14. Miami, because that's amazingly in favor of the Cubs.
  15. The [expletive] is wrong with you.
  16. Now even the Astros have won 4 games in a row.
  17. Yeah, but imagine when we're actually motivated to care even half as much as this bozo does.
  18. SMOKE WEED EVERYDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.
  19. He's classy, d'uh.

  21. Yeah, I doubt it's anything traumatic; it's just one of this things that probably annoys him, but because everyone gets a kick out of it it's turned into a huge, hilarious, wonderful thing. Just amplifying a mild annoyance times a billion for the world's amusement.

  23. Bonifacio's line since May 1 is .205/.233/.289. Ask him if those numbers are also deceptive. He said all that matters in the end is what their totals are.
  24. I like the authoritative fist bump with the 3B coach.
