  1. I've had injuries similar to DLee's twice, and both of my wrists are still fine. The only difference I notice is that my right wrist is really easy to crack (like knuckles).
  2. Tough to tell, but it looks like he's shooting from the hip. His other posts are intriguing though, looks like he does a pretty good job. To kill time I've been doing projections lately. Pretty similar, though I probably am biased towards the Cubs. I like Ramirez more than he does, Murton more than he does, and Fons a little more than he does. Other than that, we're pretty close.
  3. Hendry....phone....now. I move to ban roll eyes. Well. I don't mind them. I just don't understand why they're being used here.
  4. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/13/AR2006121301763.html Seems like robbery since the Mariners are paying for most of the contract.
  5. Bill Mueller retired and took a FO job with the Dodgers...maybe that's what you're thinking of?
  6. I like Zambrano, Lilly, Hill personally. Zambrano = Oswalt -- or there at least isn't a sizeable gap between them -- and Hill has the chance to dominate this year. 2006 Jennings reeks of fluke, and Williams is 39 years old going from a pitchers park to a hitters park. Lilly is likely to have similar stats to one of Jennings or Lilly, and I think Hill outproduces the other one.
  7. He's had 1 down year in the last 3. His 2004 isn't likely to be reproduced, but I wouldn't be shocked to see him post something a lot better than last year consistently for the next few years.
  8. How does it make them better? He's joining Woody Williams to take over for Clemens and Pettitte. Despite Pettitte's poor year -- I guess, 107 ERA+ isn't awful -- his year still has a good chance to be better than what Jennings or Williams will provide.
  9. Didn't Minnesota non-tender David Ortiz after the 2002 season? Think there might be at least a couple of bitter Twins fans? :D Their comeuppance for getting Johan in the Rule 5 and Liriano and Nathan for AJP? they also got BOOOOOOOF in the deal for AJP.
  10. Hawk: And that's a ball. *silence* Hawk: Strike. 1-1 DJ: That was a good pitch. *silence* Hawk: Flyball to left. Caught by Podsednik. 2 down. *silence*
  11. No they don't. They need to get a CF and have enough money to lock Z! up in the near future.
  12. We don't need to upgrade at CF. We need to upgrade at short, but I don't think we should create a hole in center unless we're getting a great offensive player that can hide Pie in the bottom of the order.
  13. Why not just go to a 6-man rotation until someone pitches himself out of the rotation?
  14. So who on the bullpen do we DFA? Dempster? Ohman? Wood? Wuertz? Eyre? Novoa? Howry? Cotts? None of those guys have any options remaining. I don't know if I'm the only one, and this is just me talking, but I'm not much of a fan of Novoa. In fact, I wish he weren't wearing a Cub uniform, truth be told. I'm also not much of a fan of Ohman. Wouldn't mind getting rid of one of them to make room for Miller You'd probably have to get rid of two of them. Unless we're going to have a 3-man bench. well, Zambrano and Marquis can handle the bat. Lilly says he can too. Prior isn't bad either. Just have to mix and match! <_<
  15. I would be surprised if they really thrust Hill into a competition for the spot. He has nothing left to prove in AAA. Guz, Marshall, etc, all do still. They might compete for the 5th starting spot out of the gates, but Hill probably has the 3rd/4th spot locked down.
  16. Real. I figured this was about a trade/free agency rumor when I saw it on the front page.
  17. I'll see your barf and raise you a convulsion. I'm having a Grand Maul Seizure. Currently in the stage of biting through my lip and or tongue.
  18. For what its worth, 2 of the most highly thought of pitching coaches already gave up on him because of the mental issues. He has talent. Look at his game logs and the bi-polar stretches. 4 great starts, 6 terrible ones, etc. It's there, he just can't do it consistently. If you believe control is an inherent talent and much like plate discipline can't be taught effectively, like I do then you probably aren't a fan of this deal. If you do believe it can be taught then you have reason to be optimistic. Either way I'm glad to finally be rid of the bane of my existence. Now all I have to do is wait out Aaron Miles. Yeah, I looked at his gamelog earlier today. IIRC, he had an 8 IP, 1 ER start followed by the disaster against the White Sox.
  19. there's no way this is true. There's no way a pitcher gets a raise after a year in which he posts a 6.02 ERA and a guy generally considered to be one of the best pitching coaches around gives up on him. That just can't happen... GRRRRRR
  20. As starters? Guzman > Marshall > Marmol Guzman has had the most success at every level he's been at. I think Marshall has the best chance to reach his ceiling out of the three, but I don't think his ceiling is as high as Guzman's, who could still be a middle-to-top of the rotation guy. Marmol will eventually be a pretty good reliever in the mold of Zumaya.
  21. Let's not forget that McCarthy and Hirsh are prospects, so the rotation isn't that strong. McCarthy is a step ahead of a prospect, and he's had some success at the major league level. As a starter, he has a 4.12 ERA in 67.2 IP.
  22. "the rookies stole me lucky charms!"
  23. You gotta love that trade (assuming it's back on now). But, I still think the Sox move Hirsh and Gonzalez for another bat. I have a feeling Kenny Williams has some other trade brewing. Willis, Tejada, and maybe even A-Rod make the most sense. That would be a good deal for the Sox, if they were to land Hirsh. But you would have to think that they want to contend again in 07, so I'm sure that would just be part of a bigger package to land a top player. I don't think they're any worse off than this year for trading Garland and inserting McCarthy into the rotation.
