  1. 2 warning track flyballs in 2 days. he's a cub.
  2. when i think "pasting southpaws to a pulp" i don't think 302/317/542.
  3. he needs a great big bushy beard. or, he needs more talent, a position that he can play, and he needs to not be a mediocre minor league player. he also needs to not be expendable when we add more players to the 40-man roster.
  4. well that picture was a fad on gatewayredbirds. that was the first place that i saw it. wolf brought its glory over here after a long thread about mrs. beer girl over there.
  5. Is that right? Outstanding. As soon as he's "healthy" and pitching well, trade him before the duct tape and bailing wire break. Or the Cubs could decide if they want him as a RP or a SP and not jerk him around. The Cubs do plenty of things wrong, but you are really stretching to blame them for Guzman's fragility. he was fragile before, they knew this. so why did they jerk him around when he was finally healthy? his injury coming shortly after a change in roles with no easing in or anything was as predictable as any injury the cubs have ever had.
  6. i prefer fiction to non-fiction except when it comes to sports and specifically baseball. so i'd say split. of the last 10 books i've read, it's probably more fiction than non, though.
  7. I know that some of you on here dont like Buck but this is kind of a ridiculous claim here. Listen to Len his voice gets high when ever a Cubs player does something well too. Len isn't a national announcer and he calls all 162 games. It's different when you're a known broadcaster on the national scale and when you're only announcing 10-15 games a year for the Cardinals. Yeah but he is not announcing it on national game. He is only announcing on the Cardinals broadcast. Something tell me you would get on Vasgarsian or Brenneman if they got excited while doing their local broadcast games even though they do national games too. Buck is a gigantic homer, sorry if that notion offends you. and as much as i don't like the guy, he's allowed to be on a cards broadcast. complaining about him being biased in a local broadcast (so long as it's short of hawk harrellson's level) is ridiculous. My gripe is that he announces the same way on national broadcasts. When he's teamed with McCarver it's borderline absurd. i sure don't hear it. at least not any more than any other announcer. my gripe with him is that he's the most dry, boring announcer of all time. when he's teamed up with mccarver, he somehow becomes worse.

  9. how about abreu (assuming the yanks don't excercise his option)? 1000 ops since the all-star break.
  10. Except if it gets called at this point it's a suspended game. With the Cubs losing the full inning would have to be completed for it to be a final. That's not true. The Cardinals had the lead at the end of 6, and the Cardinals have the lead now. If the game is called, the game is over with the Cardinals winning 5-4 in 6 innings. I'm definitely not liking that rule. If the home team is losing they should get the same # of at-bats as the visiting team received. and we did. that's why they revert to the end of the 6th.
  11. anyone else hear pat hughes just yell "dammit" on gameday audio?
  12. for the reds, you can vote for adam dunn, ken griffey jr, josh hamilton, ryan freel or...juan castro. i'm voting for castro.
  13. ...or just put them in a division with the white sox.

  15. how do you join and how much? Link
  16. their fetish with crappy anchors on espnnews.
  17. Actually, save one inning, he had a good start today. but he had that inning, and it wasn't a good start. except for the two home runs lilly gave up last night, he had a good day!
  18. pat hughes made my heart jump there. dammit.
