  1. No way Jim goes for Mota. He had a terrible year last year, that's one of the requirements that goes towards joining the Cubs bullpen via acquisition. Unless you're coming off of injury.
  2. Signed baseball from Ernie Banks
  3. Kind of tough to judge, seeing as how he's only had one full year to judge him on. If he puts up another season like last year, even if it's slightly worse, he'll be fine as a 3rd starter behind Davis and Sheets.
  4. There's only 3 divisions. Based on your sentence, the NL Central is also the 2nd strongest division in the league. ... I was talking about the MLB as a whole.
  5. There's no way the Brewers can win 95 games. That being said, the Cards are still the favorites and the Cubs need them to come down to the 90-win plateau. The Cubs and the Cards have a chance of winning 90 games, but not the Astros or Brewers and certainly not the Pirates or Reds. Why can't they? they have a solid top 3 with Sheets, Capuano, and Davis. They have a decent pen. A good young lineup. The only problem they'll run into is how much their age will hurt them, rather than help.
  6. And he's shown that he can over an extended period of time, although his season stats don't show that.
  7. This one, gamefaqs, and a hockey-related (loosely, related) board makes 3 for me.
  8. Meh, mix up in words I guess. I meant that they're just ahead, as in where I'd seed them, as in, they're 5th but the West is 6th.
  9. They are overrated, but the NL Central is probably the second weakest division in the league right now, just ahead of the NL West. They'll benefit from that. They'll also benefit from age. I think they'll end up somewhere between 85-95 wins, depending on how well they play in the division. If they suck against the division, 3rd place, 85 wins. If they're good, 94-95 wins, 1st. That can also be said for at least the Cubs and Cardinals, probably the Astros too.
  10. Pierre Walker Lee Ramirez Barrett Murton Jones Cedeno
  11. Asking us is probably not a great idea. If I had to guess, I'd say 7 is a real good bet to at least play Seattle, not sure about where though.
  12. A golfer with the last name "Shanks" would never be very good. As soon as that word pops into your mind on a golf course, you're done.
  13. No way.Maybe 1 for 1, but definitely not both. Then again, no way Tampa takes one, they're asking for Marte...
  14. I don't think they want an OF in return, they're log jammed, aren't they?
  15. I think it was more that there was someone (Jones, Encarnacion, Burnitz if he really wanted) available through FA than there was at SS. Either that or Hendry is more stupid than I really imagined.
  16. Jesus, Brewers are at 80-1. I should go make a bet or something, no way I get hurt. $5 turns into 400, and if I lose, it's just $5. wow.
  17. So if a guy bats .350 his first year, then declined to .300, then even further to .250, Hendry would sign him to an 8 year deal because he has a .300 career average.
  18. -Let Rusch/Perez go -Designate Macias for assignment and/or see if he has any real trade value -See what I can get for Derrek Lee -If nothing is good for Lee (which would probably be true), I'll start filling the holes in RF, SS, and CF. -Pursue Giles hard -Sign only one of howry or Eyre -Pursue Furcal hard, but not to the point where it's a 13m/y contract -IF Giles falls through, sign Jones to a 1year deal with a team option for a 2nd year. 3-5 for a year, if he accepts. -IF I can't sign Jones, trade for Craig Wilson -Acquire Pierre -Shop Corey, see if there's anything I like, let him compete for a job in ST (probably 4th OF at best until injury) -If I can't get Furcal, let Cedeno have the job outright -Make sure Walker is on the team Opening day lineup (not quite ideally, but somewhat logically) Pierre CF Walker 2B Giles RF Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Barrett C Murton LF Cedeno SS Zambrano P

  20. One is young and can't hit a curve and the other is a pretty bad choice to start at all, let alone on a team that's supposed to be a contender.
  21. I don't think they're going to win 95 games, but then again, it might only take 90 to win the central this year. They're in it, definitely, probably better than the Cubs (too many variables for the Cubs), and might be just behind St. Louis. A couple injuries to the Cubs or Cards and they could take over. I don't know what the Astros are doing right now. They still have a decent three without Clemens in Oswalt/Pettitte/Backe (with Backe being the weak link, by far), but their offense is still pretty bad. The Wilson signing didn't make much sense... They have Taveras, Burke, Lane ready to play the OF even if Bags isn't healthy, but whatever. This would be my guess at the year-end standings Cardinals 90-72 (will Carp regress and how much, loss of Walker, Sanders, Grudz, and Morris will hurt) Brewers 88-74 (young and talented) Cubs 84-78 (could really fluctuate. Might be below .500 again, might end up with 90+ wins) Astros 84-78 (depends on the offense) Not going to do the Pirates or Reds, but that is what I get so far.
  22. True, but i was considering higher ceiling prospects like Pie anyways. Theriot or Fontenot would be cheap and fine by me.
  23. I don't like the idea of prospects as bench players. I'd rather have them play everyday at AAA.
  24. I always found it funny when people would say that the White Sox "rely" on Ozzie Ball and would then say that a lot of their runs came by the home run.
  25. Also had a hole-in-one on a par 4.
