  1. with this season near being down the toilet (forever optimistic...until June at least) this sounds like a good idea.
  2. Barrett, though I wouldn't be surprised if my answer changes to Z! in about a month.
  3. http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/yankees/ny-sprog0530,0,6890705.story?coll=ny-homepage-bigpix2005 with the astros.
  4. Cubs score twice but on twelve hits, but win 2-1. Dempster closes out the 9th on 3 K's and 9 pitches. Maddux pitches 8 strong innings. Murton and Womack drive in the runs.
  5. I called it  Looks like the Cubs played pretty well for a change. Probably not a sign of things to come, just good to see we're not completely inept out there.
  6. For those watching: How did Wood look today? Looks like the 4th was a problem-spot that he squeaked out of. What was he hitting on the radar gun?
  7. Why did he only give Ryu one chance to start? Obviously he ignored the fact that the wind was blowing out today. Guzman and Hill each had 4 starts so there is no reason that Hendry should be sending Ryu back down after 1 start. Obviously it was worse than any of the starts Guzman and Hill had, but it's still just one start. At least give the guy a chance to redeem himself. I think the original plan was to only start him once in place of Wood. That makes sense because the Cubs have an off day on Thursday. But after that the Cubs play 11 games in a row. Who is going to be the fifth starter then? Prior isn't going to be ready by then and Rusch shouldn't be starting. So who takes the fifth starter spot then? Probably Rusch. Either that or they're counting on having Prior back in that period, which is probably not a good idea.

  9. Ozzie. Dusty sucks in-game and never holds his players accountable. Ozzie at least holds his players accountable.
  10. Mark Grace and Jose Canseco can pitch in relief. no way, I'll take Gaetti over both of them.
  11. womack at 2B batting 2nd, neifi at 3rd batting 6th.
  12. Only if Z gets onto a team that can actually win his games. it could happen!
  13. not soon. i think in 15-20 years you'll be seeing Felix Hernandez, Francisco Liriano, Jake Peavy and Carlos Zambrano being mentioned in this same kind of discussion though.
  14. Remlinger in to face Jacque? That's odd. Bad against lefties vs. Bad against lefties. WHO WILL BE THE VICTOR IN THIS BATTLE OF MEDIOCRITY!?!?
  15. So you want the OF to be even worse offensively? No i dont but Hunter will put up better numbers than Pierre would. HUnter is a guy who will sacrafice his body for the team something this cub team does not have. A real team player For that I refer you to this
  16. He's a flashier version of Jacque Jones for a lot more money: no thanks.
  17. are we the first team to ever lose the game on a 2-run sac fly?
  18. both of them still have no-hitters, but one is a perfect game.
  19. Hudson throws a perfect game, Z! throws a no-hitter but loses it because Bynum drops a flyball in left. with 1 out, and the runner on third, C. Jones grounds out to score the lone run in the game.
