Link Gus Johnson's call of Ron Lewis's 3-pointer in the OSU-Xavier game. Such a great call, one that Simmons also addresses in his last basketball blog column. And my vote goes for Gus. Gus Johnson made the UCLA-Gonzaga game: (go to 1:53). I mean, how does it get better than this (got this from some blog): Considering the money on the line for me (I had UCLA making the title game, and that pick alone won me almost every pool I was in), I was probably losing it almost as much as Gus.

See, I can get behind this. That was a horrible trade. But this team isn't destined for a first round exit because it didn't get up for the Grizzlies or Clippers. I think getting homecourt advantage in the first round will be far more important to their playoff performance than how they do against mediocre teams like the Clippers in March. Well put. Alright, I'll go there. I'm confused by the new playoff seeding though. What exactly must the Bulls do to get home court in that first round series? Pass Cleveland? I've heard you can be a 4 seed and lose homecourt to a 5th seed (which seems to defeat the purpose of seeding) or similar stuff. The top three seeds will be determined only by overall record - not by division. After that, any division champion not already seeded will be seeded. For instance, right now, Detroit and Cleveland would be 1 and 2, and Toronto would be seeded 4th because they're leading their division. And, yes, the record thing is true, too. The Bulls have a better record than Toronto so they would have homecourt in the 5/4 series even though the Bulls would be 5.

Lots of people think Schaub could start for most teams. Hell, a lot of people think Schaub should start for his current team. And he sure has an impressive career resume of 6TD's and a 69 rating to back it up. This guy has been living off a few lights out preseason performances. All hype. I hate to pull out the two word argument, but: Sample. Size.

OMFG - 4.37 as a LINEBACKER? That's it - I want this guy. He could be the Julius Peppers of linebackers - freaky athleticism. Better trade up. If they want him, they will. Carolina always gets their man (witness trading down when they wanted Gamble and knew he'd fall, and taking about 30 seconds to submit their DeAngelo pick last April).

Bleh, I'm missing two. The ones I have left are Florida, SIU, UCLA, North Carolina, Georgetown and Ohio State. The other games will be won by Oregon and Texas A&M.

Have I mentioned I hate Aaron Gray yet? Cause I do. He's just a big oaf. He is flat-out bad. I watched the Pitt/Gtown game just to laugh at how bad things happened every time he got the ball. Didn't change much against VCU.

Where did Thad Matta coach before he went to Ohio State? I can't quite remember... He was a long time assistant coach for Chuck Daily in the NBA. I don't know if he had a college coaching gig though. Xavier, which is what Andy was going for, since they talked that up during the Xavier-OSU game. To defend the media, that is a pretty big story especially with Matta leaving Xavier in the manner that he did. Obviously the media is going to focus on that sort of thing. The same goes for Ben Howland and Pittsburgh. Also, in Matta's case, he was facing players at Xavier that he recruited to the school. Of course it's going to be a big deal and the media is going to talk about it a lot. Eh, shut up, member of the media. :wink:

Hopefully Georgetown makes a nice long run, combined with DePaul and Cuse continuing to do damage in the NIT. Certainly the Big East can't be as disrespected next year as they were this year.

OT: My cousin's Stanford women's basketball career is over, as the 2-seeded Cardinal lose, on their home court, to 10-seed Florida State in the 2nd round of the women's tournament. :(

I still have my 4 bleacher tickets remaining for the Cubs/Cards game on 4/21. If you're willing to pay 80 dollars each for them (total $320), then PM me and you can Paypal me for them. Otherwise I'll list them on eBay. I'd prefer to sell them all at once, but if you only want a couple of them and know how I can be assured of separating them without problem, let me know too. -

Although I wouldn't be surprised if he was jealous, I would hesitate to call a 54-49 win in which both teams shot under 40 percent (under 35 from 3) anything but ugly, no matter how good the defense was.
