  1. Samardzija is a ways behind Veal and Gallagher, IMO. He's still very raw. He still has a lot of work to do on his secondary pitches. He's mostly throwing fastballs so far. I seem to recall a lot of talk around the time of his signing that they expected him to be a full-time big leaguer by sometime in 2009. I could be way off though.
  2. While we're on the wager topic: Vance and CFICT's thread reminded me that me and Wolf made a wager over on GRB as well. Bet: I bet that no team in the NL Central will win 90 games. Wolf bet that at least one would. Stakes: Cap from a team store - winner's pick
  3. New Jersey plays at Cleveland tomorrow night - doubly huge game for the Bulls with their opponent and their seed both hanging in the balance
  4. Now the question becomes, what are we doing with this thread?
  5. I went to a game last year in the bleachers towards the end of the season (August 2 maybe?) and sat through some of the hardest rain I have ever seen. I literally could not see the grandstand. I got absolutely soaked, wasted a bunch of money on beer, lost a full pack of cigarettes to wetness and didn't even get to see a game. Also soaking wet does not make for a fun trip home. I was at that game as well, and it was 8/2. I gladly stood out in the bleachers and soaked in every bit of that rain. Ironically, I had as much fun at that non-game as I had at the game two days earlier when Arizona killed us.
  6. The Bulls are this year, and will be in the future, a better team for not having Eddy Curry.
  7. This is one situation where the old adage "stats don't show you everything" is actually true. Lee has only 2 walks but clearly has shown patience at the plate and a willingness to work the count and wait for his pitch. It just happens he's getting "his pitch" more often than not (hence his .424 batting average). Murton on the other hand is swinging at the first pitch more often than not. He's beating the ball into the ground (.267 SLG? You kidding?). He's not waiting for his pitch at all like we know he's capable of doing. Chalk that up to feeling pressure from Floyd's PT if you want, but he's not the Murton of 05 or 06 right now.
  8. I think Durant could top that next season. As a 19 year old. Deng's best years will be in the 23 and 7 range. Durant's will be in the 33 and 9 range. Deng is a very good role player, but he isn't a game changer that necessitates a double team. Durant can be that guy who does everything Deng does, but better in addition to driving the lane and drawing 10-15 ft's a game. Deng's much better than a role player. Your point, however, is made. I would love Durant on this team as well.
  9. The Grizz wanted two of our core (think BG and Kirk) for Pau and he's only about as good as Deng. Imagine what Minny would want for KG, who is much better.
  10. Ronny Paulino is terrible. How did he misplay that picture-perfect throw from Bay on the GW sac fly? Freakin' ridiculous.
  11. I believe Leonard was picked.
  12. WCIU. Non-Chicagoans are SOL. just like every other game that isn't on WGN or TNT/ESPN Well, I don't like to brag, but I get Comcast SportsNet here in Muncie.
  13. I'm going to be pissed if you end up having to post that rally cap picture during this game.
  14. Final line. I'd still take it from any one of our pitchers - Zambrano has yet to have a start of this caliber.
  15. WCIU. Non-Chicagoans are SOL.
  16. Do you really think this for the long term betterment of theteam Ok, seriously, I love Murton, but it's not like we're holding back a sure-thing, .320/35/110 type player. Murt is what he is - a solid .300 hitter who can take a walk (at least until this year) and has 20-25 home run power. I'm not going to complain if Floyd keeps producing. I want to see Murton play, but if Floyd can put up the numbers, then fine. I really don't care where we get the numbers as long as we get them.
  17. Rich pitches a perfect game, and the Cubs lose 0 to -1 when Izturis hits a ground ball and runs the bases in reverse.
  18. Seriously. If Marquis pitches like he did today all year, I bet a lot of us would be more than happy with that. Before we get carried away with the Marquis love, he had a 1.6 WHIP and 5.40 ERA today. If he pitches like that the rest of the year I'll be pissed. He can't walk as many as he did today, but I'll take 5 innings of four-hit ball every time. Just do a better job of spreading the 4 hits around, and never let Izturis play ever again.
  19. Gold Glove SS was before Tommy John surgery. That guy is probably gone. At least the guy we have now isn't signed through next year. /kills self
  20. Please hit a HR Carlos /reverse jinx
  21. I wonder if Derrek and Aramis know what they've signed up for for the next four years together (five for Aramis).
  22. This team is going to shatter the record for most times falling behind 0-2
  23. He leads the team in RBI because he's hit behind ARam, Lee and Floyd all season.
  24. So we're not even going to get the tying run to the plate today looks like
  25. I hope getting Good ARam in April doesn't mean we lose out on Good ARam in June and July
