  1. Smyly probably wasn't going to get him anyway but it's too bad Gomes didn't let him take a crack at it.
  2. Just to be a contrarian, I like the new forum functionality better. Especially on mobile.
  3. I don't remember everything, especially anymore, but I'm pretty sure no Cub since I've been following the team (close to 25 years) has taken a perfect game this far.
  4. They just did the 'McNugget' of the game and it turns out this is the new modern-day franchise record. The only other time they did it was 1885.
  5. Smyly looks exasperated haha
  6. Just teeing off on this scrub
  7. It is admittedly becoming much harder to hate him these days.
  8. Seiya is absolutely destroying the ball almost every time up. It's awesome to watch.
  9. Outside of the final 2 minutes of each half (for those who don't bother clicking). In my experience, it seems like many clock operators in the sport were either curtailing or outright ignoring the clock stoppages anyway outside of close-and-late situations, so that's fine.
  10. I just looked up his numbers on Baseball Savant and holy crap are they disgusting. By far career worsts in barrel rate allowed, xBA, xSLG (over .600!) and basically every other stat you could imagine. Throw Alzolay in there and see what happens. Can't do any worse.
  11. That signing was a whiff and he can go. Don't walk Jason Heyward
  12. I think among MLB teams that's correct, but the Sacramento Kings are right there. That franchise has been Rochester, Cincinnati, Kansas City-Omaha (I love that teams used to split their home games, what a ridiculous relic of the past), Kansas City and now Sacramento.
  13. Noting this is the first I've ever heard of any of this, his Wikipedia page says Wagner wrote publicly anti-Semitic stuff in the late 1800s.
  14. I've upgraded from '2005-ish pretty boring season that fizzles out in midsummer' to 'reasonably hopeful to be buyers at the deadline', so I guess that's a bit of a change.
  15. That was quite a fun inning. Nico and Happ are a heck of a lot of fun to watch right now. Really nice to see Bellinger looking like a version of himself again.
  16. Presumably the next series when they're back at Wrigley
  17. Just horrific umpiring down the stretch. What a big win
  18. Ump just called Heyward out on ball 5, what a break
  19. Not worried, when have the Cubs ever lost to LA because they repeatedly failed to add to a 1 run lead?
  20. Holy crap was that clutch pitching from Leiter
  21. And now Dansby boots one. There's no way we're getting out of this
