That was us, and I'm insulted by that. NCCubFan, the Navy game next week is on Friday and on ESPN. It is going to be all kinds of awesome. The Cubs will definitely be taking a back seat for me that night (if they even play at night; I don't usually look at the time of the games this far in advance). They do, I looked. The Cubs are No. 2 that night for me as well, mostly because there's not a whole lot left at stake.
Len had a badass call of that slam. I didn't hear it the first time because I was screaming. Seriously, on days like this I can't even think of things I don't love about being a Cubs fan.
Ball State clobbered Northeastern tonight 48-14 - the Huskies scored with less than a minute left in each half, otherwise you're looking at a whitewash. 280 yards, 3 TDs for Nate Davis, almost 100 yards for MiQuale Lewis after compiling 78 in the first quarter. A solid start and tune-up for Navy next week.
I mean, I can't even describe it anymore. It's unbelievable. Every time I'm about to decide that THIS time the Cubs aren't going to come back and win, they turn around and do it. I love them all. It's crazy but I do.
Howry in line for another win. BTW, it bears repeating how much I LOVE THIS DAMN TEAM. No other year do we have a chance in this one, but this year...all I can say is what my avatar says.
I'd like to thank Ball State for tossing up a 21 spot in the first twenty minutes of their season opener tonight so I can pay full attention to the Cubs. :D
I've got 8-4 too. Sun Bowl against Oregon or Cal or (hopefully not) Oregon State. Anyway, two hours until Ball State kickoff. Jason Whitlock wrote a full article on FOXSports.com today predicting a BCS bid for the Cardinals (which I doubt they'd get even if they went undefeated). I wish I could be there.
It has nothing to do with "being good enough". They aren't good enough to make BCS game, they are Notre Dame enough. I'm not playing this me-versus-the-board game anymore on the BCS eligiblity rules. Good enough to be eligible. Whatever.
ESPN always likes one idiot on their studio panel to say stupid stuff. Holtz is the John Kruk of College Gameday Most of the people on NSBB know of my irrational hatred for ND. It's a deep hate, it's a good hate. It gives me no pleasure to say that Holtz is probably closer to the truth. They play the Big 10 teams but each of those teams are not good. Their toughest game outside of USC is Pitt and Pitt is coached by Wannstedt. I could see them winning 9, 10, or 11 games with a little luck. Then they'll play in a big bowl and get exposed like they always do. Long Live the Genius! I think I speak for most ND fans that I would gladly take the bowl-game disembowelment if it meant being good enough to make a BCS game this year. This is hopefully the last time I say that. FWIW, my BCS predictions: Rose: OSU/Arizona State Fiesta: Georgia/South Florida Sugar: LSU/Missouri Orange: Clemson/BYU National Championship: Oklahoma/USC
Awesome. My trip was random too - I bought the ticket online that day, jetted off after class, came back that night. I went myself, but it was still one of the best top of my head decisions ever.
Control-problem pitchers have the most problems with consistency. This guy's solution is to call someone up who he himself says has control problems. Unreal.
Did you watch them clinch at a bar afterward or something? I remember it being a good while after our game ended... Well, I didn't see us clinch, no, I heard it go final on the drive back, but they were losing late when I left, so I had a good idea.
This is the best sports team I've ever followed on a day to day basis. And it's not even close. Let's keep it up tomorrow...I'm curious right now as to how many W streaks of 5 or more we have.
