  1. I'd like to thank Ball State for tossing up a 21 spot in the first twenty minutes of their season opener tonight so I can pay full attention to the Cubs. :D
  2. I already did that (Wed 6/25 vs Orioles, Cubby Bear afterwards). Pretty awesome.
  3. The only answer is Jump. Although I have no issues with Livin' on a Prayer.
  4. I've got 8-4 too. Sun Bowl against Oregon or Cal or (hopefully not) Oregon State. Anyway, two hours until Ball State kickoff. Jason Whitlock wrote a full article on FOXSports.com today predicting a BCS bid for the Cardinals (which I doubt they'd get even if they went undefeated). I wish I could be there.
  5. It has nothing to do with "being good enough". They aren't good enough to make BCS game, they are Notre Dame enough. I'm not playing this me-versus-the-board game anymore on the BCS eligiblity rules. Good enough to be eligible. Whatever.
  6. ESPN always likes one idiot on their studio panel to say stupid stuff. Holtz is the John Kruk of College Gameday Most of the people on NSBB know of my irrational hatred for ND. It's a deep hate, it's a good hate. It gives me no pleasure to say that Holtz is probably closer to the truth. They play the Big 10 teams but each of those teams are not good. Their toughest game outside of USC is Pitt and Pitt is coached by Wannstedt. I could see them winning 9, 10, or 11 games with a little luck. Then they'll play in a big bowl and get exposed like they always do. Long Live the Genius! I think I speak for most ND fans that I would gladly take the bowl-game disembowelment if it meant being good enough to make a BCS game this year. This is hopefully the last time I say that. FWIW, my BCS predictions: Rose: OSU/Arizona State Fiesta: Georgia/South Florida Sugar: LSU/Missouri Orange: Clemson/BYU National Championship: Oklahoma/USC
  7. Awesome. My trip was random too - I bought the ticket online that day, jetted off after class, came back that night. I went myself, but it was still one of the best top of my head decisions ever.
  8. Control-problem pitchers have the most problems with consistency. This guy's solution is to call someone up who he himself says has control problems. Unreal.
  9. Did you watch them clinch at a bar afterward or something? I remember it being a good while after our game ended... Well, I didn't see us clinch, no, I heard it go final on the drive back, but they were losing late when I left, so I had a good idea.
  10. I went to Cincinnati for last year's clinching game. It was a good time. Should be - of course - a lot of Cubs fans at Wrigley Slightly South.
  11. Put the Phillies in the http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e67/ndistops/Dumpster.jpg
  12. This is the best sports team I've ever followed on a day to day basis. And it's not even close. Let's keep it up tomorrow...I'm curious right now as to how many W streaks of 5 or more we have.
  13. and depressing to know that if we go 2-3 in the first round of the playoffs, the season is over. I considered adding that to my post but I didn't want to come off pessimistic. That does scare me though.
  14. wat? Is the hatred really that strong? It's the same completely irrational thing that makes me want to not see the White Sox if we make it to the World Series. On paper, I know full well that the Cardinals and White Sox would be the best matchups in our favor we could hope for, but I still fear what happened the last time each of those clubs made the postseason. I know I'm wrong for thinking this. Would the Sox be the best matchup for us in a potential World Series? I'm not saying they wouldn't, I just haven't thought about it enough to agree/disagree. They have some serious mashers, a solid yet not dominant starting staff and a good bullpen (with Linebrink) I guess there are those who think the Angels would be a better matchup for us. I can see either. I can maybe even see the Rays despite this year's results.
  15. Brilliant. I went with Pierzynski, Luckwick, Ankiel, Hawkins and Hart.

  17. I still don't particularly want the Cardinals to win these games. I won't shed tears if they do, though.
  18. Scored the most, allowed the least. It's kind of mind-blowing how much better we are than the rest of the league.
  19. Two days until Ball State football starts. I can't believe I'm saying that I'm jacked up for a Ball State football season. NCCubFan, dougdescenzo, photoguy, if you make it into this thread and are interested in listening to the game, WCRD.net (the student radio station I worked for until May) does free webcasts.
  20. Luis Montanez got the game-winning hit in a game played three months before his major league debut.
  21. 81-50, Magic Number 27, best team in baseball.
  22. Sac fly (not far from a homer), and a bases loaded single.
  23. So I leave with 1 run, come back with 10 and 3 Jimmy XBH's. That'll work. Although Ted can really stop giving up homers.
