  1. Soto looks petrified to swing the bat. Last year he'd have split the RCF gap with that 3-1 pitch.
  2. Damn, Soriano is just killing the ball this season
  3. Yep. Can't get one to the ribs before he flops like a bitch.
  4. I just really hope we see some moves. I don't care what's done, or how many AAA guys we bring up. Cotts and Patton specifically are flat-out not going to be good for us at any point and that's pretty obvious.
  5. The Braun intolerable ass comparison was probably apt. He's moving up the enemies list.
  6. Fukudome!!! Him too. And Lilly who I added to the prior post. Basically I'm sick of about half the team and most of the ones I'm not sick of don't play much.
  7. Non-injured Cubs I'm not sick of right now: Marmol Bradley Hoffpauir The cajuns, for now Reed Johnson, to some extent I guess Bobby Scales since he hasn't had the chance to do anything stupid yet That's it. That's the list. ETA: Lilly. Knew I forgot a starting pitcher.
  8. Seriously, there is no reason you can give me for Neal Cotts or Aaron Miles being on this team. None. Zero. Zilch. They are horrifyingly bad at their jobs.
  9. I should be angry about Ryan Braun being a dick, but we know that going in. Don't give up homers to him if you don't want to see him prance around like a 15-year-old girl.
  10. In comes Neal Cotts. I feel like there's no one good on this team, and anyone that shows flashes of being good gets hurt.
  11. And Craig effing Counsell homers. We can't buy a damn hit from anyone besides Hoffpauir, and Craig Counsell homers. Screw this.
  12. For all the frakking one-year wonder type guys in this division, and only Geovany Soto falls off the cliff for no damn reason. Ridiculous.
  13. Why is our rookie of the year the one that decides to get on his knees and blow chunks in year 2? Why couldn't it happen to Braun?
  14. There's your break, Geo. Better take advantage.
  15. Well, Hendry does seem to have a thing for guys on that 2003 Marlins team for some reason. DLee, Pierre, Chad Fox, Hollandsworth.
  16. If it's 4-6 weeks, I might be okay. Maybe. In the GDT things like 'torn labrum' and 'career-changer' were getting thrown around. That scared me to death. Aramis is my favorite position player since Sammy and I don't want this to be a 'career-changer'. If it's only a 6-week injury, I think we might be able to stay afloat with a little luck and some production from Milton "Umps Don't Let Me Walk" Bradley and Geo. But a little luck's been pretty effing hard to come by this season.
  17. If only I wasn't so sure the rest of the thread will be filled with talk about the horrible game tonight I could love that first post as much as it deserves. Good work.
  18. After 2004, and after two of the most talented pitchers of the generation fading into virtual nothingness, I think we were due about a decade of relative healthiness. Instead we've gotten DL trips for our best starting pitcher and now our most reliable and probably best hitter, the latter of which might be for the entire season. Plus nagging injuries for our first baseman, our right fielder (granted, that was expected) and some mysterious injury that's turned our catcher into Rob Bowen. And that's not even counting the requisite DL trip for Soriano plus whatever other crap happens, which at this point I'm pretty sure will be plenty.
  19. Not to scare you again, but I wonder how much teams will demand from us. It'll be obvious we're desperate and I'd hate to see someone like Vitters, Colvin, etc. traded for a stopgap if ARam is out for a while. Hendry can't do much, but he can do trades. He's not going to get fleeced for a stopgap.
  20. I blame myself for looking at Aramis's career stat line on WGN, seeing 253 in the HR column and saying to myself "he'll hit #300 next year".
