  1. Sh. Shut up. The game is over. Cal's basically already in the 2nd round. Pitino may as well head home. Considering people already had the Duke-Louisville game penciled in on Wednesday, I think it's fine for people to point out Cal had a chance. That's not what I'm going for with that post. Jorge Sosa just picked up his 3rd on a bang-bang charge call.

  3. I no longer wonder what it's like to be a Big Ten football fan. Can't be fun to see a league you've thought is good all year get their doors blown off in a one-game-per-team sample size, which immediately erases any good credibility. Louisville just plain sucks. I didn't see hardly any of them this year and I should've known better. Then again, I also should've known better than to bet on ND, who consistently gags on their own spit as soon as they're playing to move over the line from 'mediocre' to 'good'. You can't seriously believe that there has been Big Ten football hype anywhere near the Big East's from this year. I have paid little attention to the hype, so I really couldn't care less what any of the media types think of the league.

  5. Looks like we get Unbelievably Shitty Louisville tonight. Enjoy your 2nd round berth, Cal. Best of luck against Duke.
  6. That's a load of crap. Officials Hollywooding the proceedings. Unreal.
  7. Um, 1 has played, this game isn't over, and there's no way in hell Maryland's losing to Houston. Also, Tennessee has won and Ohio State ain't losing to Georgia Tech, Tennessee or Ohio anyway.
  8. I love when the team I pick against shoots 96 percent from the free throw line.
  9. The Ladders, which just pisses me off to no end. Watching MMOD, I've seen the Ivan brothers commercial about 2634 times over the last two days. The one with Seth Davis isn't annoying yet, but it's getting there. The others got there a while ago.
  10. I usually eliminate every ACC team other than the really high seeds as soon as I can, because they all seem to be like this. For some reason I picked FSU over Gonzaga, a pick I regretted as soon as I saw Mark Few on the sidelines.
  11. Would really have liked to see Siena play straight-up D, though Jackson got about as lucky as you can get on that brick free throw that bounced in.
  12. Well, Purdue's going to win. Just hope A&M can win next - they're in my elite 8.
  13. It seems like Wisconsin is up by a lot more than 8.
  14. Who had the over on "Chris Kramer's first time being a douche"? 16:22 left in the 2nd, I have to believe the over/under was in the first half sometime.
  15. Siena daring Purdue to beat them from long range.
  16. Problem is, they're not doing it as well as Clemson right now.
  17. Firefox MMOD working much better than IE did yesterday. My Internet is super-slow at my apartment so my expectations aren't high - the video quality is crap but unlike yesterday it's not skipping. Fair trade.
  18. Go Bucky. I might have picked Wofford against a lot of teams, but not sure they match up well with Wisconsin. We'll see. SI picked Wofford, which surprised me. I generally no longer bet against Bo Ryan or Tom Izzo to go out early under any circumstances.
  19. UTEP was actually a perfectly reasonable pick - they matched up well physically with Butler and Vanderbilt never seems to live up to their seed (or in your case, you had Murray State). Butler just caught fire in the second half - luckily for me since I had Butler advancing out of that pod. And I want to be hopeful for the Big East myself, but Georgetown and ND were two of the teams I was relatively confident would deliver good performances and both tossed up stinkers. I doubt we can glean much tomorrow because of the 4 teams playing, three are 3 seeds or above, so unless someone pulls an Ohio from long-range they will all win easily.
  20. Lost in all the tourney action today, it was announced that in 2011, Michigan and Notre Dame will play the first night game in the history of Michigan Stadium.
  21. Marquette and ND's seeds were both ridiculous (I was saying that before they lost). I don't think the other upsets really reflect on the seeds. Marquette and ND being overseeded actually helps them. If they were both properly seeded at, say, 7 or 8, then they would get an even harder first round opponent. Well, I would much rather play a team like Florida in a 7/10 game then play the kind of small conference winners that are normally seeded 11. Generally the mid-majors that rise that high are pretty legitimate teams that are hungry, whereas the at-larges in that area are what they are and are highly unlikely to deliver a big-time performance. Obviously the way they played today they'd have lost to probably most anyone, but, in my totally uninformed opinion, it seems like the double-digit at-larges enjoy much less success than the 10-12 seeded small-conference winners.
  22. I will feel a lot better if my two picks to get to the title game - Ohio State and West Virginia - throttle their opponents tomorrow.
  23. I think the only fitting way to end the day would be a buzzer-beating 3-ball by Montana to win it.
  24. Granted the first round is only 2/5's over but I can't remember a better tourney. I don't think that is just getting caught up in the moment either. In terms of close games it's been pretty unbeatable so far. Hopefully tomorrow can live up to it.
  25. I haven't seen Ohio play. Are they that reliant on the three? No, they're not. But they really, really suck, and they beat Georgetown by hitting 13/23 from 3 (season average: 7 3s made a game).
