With Dansby coming off the IL and Vasquez coming up, would it be too much to hope for both of those train wrecks to be out the door? -
Boog is almost always off on Sundays because he does the ESPN Sunday night game on the radio and JD pops in and out a lot, often on road trips.

There are fair quarrels to make with Jed but complaining about us not signing impact players in the offseason when he signed the literal best pitcher in baseball so far and also signed our current best hitter this offseason seems very strange.

I would say it's quite optimistic of you to assume the bullpen won't give anything up but yeah, locking it down the day Skenes strikes out 24 in a perfect game seems about right

And Nico still isn't in the lineup, so we're fast closing in on the point where he should have been IL'd. Though in the Cubs' defense, there's probably no one freaking left to call up by now.

I was only listening on the radio but Coomer made it sound like the runner wasn't ready to tag up on the line drive and he wouldn't have been able to score. That's something like the 4th time Seiya has flat out whiffed a play in RF in the last few months of games he's played, which is annoying.

And of course as we slobber on him he takes that hideous AB with the bases loaded and 1 out. Good thing it was low-leverage.

Len is an oddball enough guy that I can take at face value that he wanted to be on the radio and potentially do postseason games (whoops), things the Cubs couldn't offer. If I hear anything to the contrary it'd be easily believable, but we haven't.

Morel practically kills himself to work a walk, maybe the best PA of his career, and the Cubs lose 2 pitches later. Good lord. -
14 players on the IL, LMAO. I know they weren't all on the opening day roster but if you were you basically had a coin flip chance of being on the injured list within 6 weeks.

It's legitimately weird that after years - decades, really - of seemingly one stupid thing after another working out for St. Louis that all of a sudden nothing is working for them at all. To be clear, I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It's just weird.

There was an Athletic story about this that was pretty interesting. He actually asked for a number change over the offseason but he wanted 14, which Adam Duvall took. 45 was assigned to him and no one from Atlanta was willing to talk about it, so it seems likely someone in the organization decided to be a jokester and bring that topic into baseball for no good reason. Tromp himself said he didn't even realize for a while why fans were giving him more attention than usual until it was brought up to him.
