  1. Easy joke fodder, for sure, but I imagine it won't actually change anything that happens this season. The most hilarious part of all this so far is that one Athletic report said MSU briefly considered not playing this weekend for health and safety reasons in response to the heads up about this, which would've been so transparently absurd and petty that I really wish they'd have done it.
  2. Someone on Twitter dug this up and it makes more sense now

  4. I'm trying not to think too much about the fact that if any of about a dozen things went differently vs Ohio State, ND would be in pretty good CFP position even if that ridiculous loss to Louisville had unfolded exactly the same way. Also, Louisville lost to horsefeathers Pittsburgh because of course they did.
  5. I spent all week befuddled why ND was favored and assuming SC would win by 3 scores and I guess that's why Vegas keeps building new casinos.
  6. I'm almost certain Saban did in fact want Brees but either the medical team or ownership didn't sign off on it so it didn't happen and instead he ruined college football by driving everyone else insane with his dominance. ETA - found this link. https://saintswire.usatoday.com/2021/07/23/nick-saban-drew-brees-injury-dolphins-news/ Now, it's entirely possible Saban is embellishing the truth because it's easy to say that in hindsight, but he is on the record in any case.
  7. They 'should' play 162 and go back to a playoff system without half the damn teams in it. Since we know they aren't doing that, I guess yours is a reasonable alternative. But in general I hate the 'oh the playoffs are too big, guess we need to cut regular season games now' of sports.

  9. He is bad. He has no path to be anything but bad unless he gets Dolphins-level weapons around him, and I doubt that would do it. The only 2 reasons Carolina isn't looked at like a laughingstock the way Detroit and Cleveland and (somewhat) Jacksonville are are 1) Cam Newton, which was dumb luck, and 2) the fact that no one gives a horsefeathers about Carolina. There is no path forward for this franchise. It'll be at least 2026 before they're remotely competitive and it will take wholesale changes that they won't make for it to be that quick.
  10. Notre Dame sucks ass and this raises way more questions about Marcus Freeman than the stupid 10-men thing did. I'm also going to go ahead and predict Michigan will win the national championship.
  11. It's an 18-team conference. You're not going to be able to play everyone you want to every year. In any case, I think PSU's athletic department prefers it that way, the rumor is their lack of desire to maintain annual rivalries is why they got 'unrivaled' in the new configuration.
  12. If we're being real, any playoffs after 162 games is stupid if your angle is fairness. But since we're light-years past the Rubicon on that issue, I don't really give a crap how long the series are. I liked the one-game playoff, honestly.
  13. Maybe we could send them video of PCA's at-bats this September and that would make them feel better?
  14. I can't decide whether it's more gratifying or annoying that the Marlins' ridiculous run of good luck has come to a screeching halt now that they can't screw our team with it.
  15. Much more informed work here than my repeatedly calling the decision to trade up for Young an unmitigated disaster. Bryce Young so far is basically Jimmy Clausen with better PR. The difference is Clausen sucking got Carolina Cam Newton, while Bryce sucking is going to gift the Bears a blue-chip draft pick.
  16. Definitely not easy, but Penix won't be at UW next year, Caleb probably won't be at USC, and UCLA, Wisconsin and MSU aren't good enough to be too concerned about at the moment.
  17. Double post
  18. The B1G is horrifyingly bad this year. This week you get Minnesota who lost to Northwestern, then it's IU who needed a miracle to beat Akron. Essentially a 3 team conference, maybe 3.5 depending on what Maryland does against the other 3.

  20. Whoever the hell came up with the S2 cognition test is going to lose every penny invested in it. That test all but accused Stroud of having a developmental disability and crowned Bryce Young the next Nobel Prize winner. Young is an unmitigated disaster. 1 TD drive (garbage time excluded) in 3 games.
  21. There is no way USC is winning the Pac-12 with this defense. No matter how great Caleb is.
  22. Good on Cuas for not dragging it out. And now I can be done with these horsefeathers losers for the year
  23. I'm sure they've got the Ivy people telling them why you'd rather have Wisdom up with what's left of the season on the line than Tauchman, but I don't get it
