  1. That's the part that really does it. Bama is in largely on eye test (though TT does make a good resume case) when they needed an almost literal miracle to beat a pretty lousy Auburn team 8 days ago.
  2. I get it - and for obvious fan-related reasons a large part of me is happy about it - but I think it's wrong. Florida State should be in. They won all their games. They may have looked like ass much of the last 2 weeks, but they still beat Florida on the road and beat a top-20 team at a neutral site. Hell, Michigan played basically the same game against Iowa and Penn State (admittedly, better defenses than Louisville), and they took no hits for it, which they shouldn't have.
  3. It's Michigan vs FSU and Washington vs Texas and me probably not watching a single down of the playoff, this is really a pretty easy decision based on everything that's ever been done with these selections
  4. I think FSU is capped at 4 if they win. Texas jumps to 3 because everyone knows they are better but you can't leave FSU out entirely even though Alabama is better. So Louisville really needs to win.
  5. I want Florida State to lose, beyond that chalk is good with me too.
  6. I'm pretty sure it was well-known he wanted to go in as a Cub at the time but the Hall of Fame had final say. I'm sure he feels more connected to Cubs fans, not least because the Expos no longer exist. Wouldn't be surprised if he had bitter feelings about the way his Expos time ended as well.
  7. You can find separate over/unders for Iowa points in each half at 0.5. It's incredible.
  8. Under that scenario Bama and Oregon are definitely in and two of UGA/Michigan/Washington are in. My gut says the first two of them, but the Huskies would have a resume case against either.

    NFL Week 12

Panthers fired Frank Reich this morning.
  10. Conference USA Championship Game (7 pm Friday, CBSSN) New Mexico State at (24) Liberty Pac-12 Championship Game in Las Vegas (8 pm Friday, FOX) (5) Oregon vs (3) Washington Big 12 Championship Game in Arlington, TX (12 pm, ABC) (18) Oklahoma State vs (7) Texas MAC Championship Game in Detroit (12 pm, ESPN) Miami (OH) vs Toledo Mountain West Championship Game (3 pm, FOX) Boise State at UNLV Sun Belt Championship Game (3:30 pm, ESPN) Appalachian State at Troy SEC Championship Game in Atlanta (4 pm, CBS) (1) Georgia vs (8) Alabama American Championship Game (4 pm, ABC) SMU at (22) Tulane Big Ten Championship Game in Indianapolis (8 pm, FOX) (2) Michigan vs (16) Iowa ACC Championship Game in Charlotte (8 pm, ABC) (14) Louisville vs (4) Florida State Dec. 9 Army vs Navy - in Foxboro, MA (3 pm, CBS)
  11. I don't think there's any chance 13-0 FSU would get left out but I think their ceiling is #4 barring mass chaos. I don't think there's a single team that's safe with a loss this weekend, which is a refreshing change.
  12. I think there's a good chance Bama would win a rematch, but this is absolutely right. If the biggest non conference result of the year can be ignored because "eye test" then everyone should just cancel every notable OOC series they have scheduled.

    NFL Week 12

I don't think it's remotely hyperbolic to say Carolina is the worst current franchise in pro sports. Complete blowhard as owner making stupid decision after stupid decision. A roster totally bereft of talent. Fan support is tepid at best unless they're great. They're absolutely sunk until at least 2025 without a draft pick next year and realistically it's probably 2-3 years longer even if they hit on every decision from here, which they will not.
  14. Looks like Elko to A&M. That sucks ass for Duke but he was always the obvious move.

    NFL Week 12

I can always tell when someone hasn't seen the Panthers play yet
  16. Any neutral observer should probably hope Louisville beats FSU next week. The Noles as currently constructed are a delicious meal for whoever plays them in the CFP.
  17. The postgame revelation that Bama practices that 4th-and-30 situation every week is the most on-brand Nick Saban thing of all time.
  18. The last few minutes of that game today were perhaps the B1G Westiest few minutes in the history of that division.
  19. No, still 4. It goes to 12 next season.
  20. To be clear, I really want to be wrong, and not just because I'm a Carolina fan. I spent half last season openly man-crushing on Bryce Young and wanted him in the draft. He was a fun as hell college player and I want him to be a fun as hell NFL player.
  21. I still think we're probably headed for a clear 4, but if Alabama beats Georgia in Atlanta, which definitely is possible (those 2 are both playing outstanding, game feels like a coin flip to me right now), that opens the door to some interesting scenarios.
  22. Josh Allen had four games as a rookie where he averaged more YPA than Bryce Young has in any game. He averaged more YPA his rookie year than Young has had in any game but one. Young's completion percentage is high because he doesn't throw the damn thing more than 7 yards down the field. You can learn your way to cutting down on interceptions. You can't do much of anything about being completely unable to move the ball at all.
  23. I feel bad passing judgment on him when it's not his fault the entire franchise is a train wreck. But if he were ever going to be special - 'this justifies selling your farm to pick him #1' special - there'd be some evidence of it by now, even considering the circumstances. The last QB who started this bad who eventually became a star was...Troy Aikman? Maybe? And the NFL in 1989 was essentially a different sport than the one of 2023.
  24. I didn't even check the Carolina score until the 4th quarter. I see Bryce Young was under 5 yards per attempt again. Three games in a row and 5 times this season. Been over 6.0 twice in 9 games.
