  1. I don't think so, we're just facing a lefty and since Jon Lester started yesterday that superseded the platoon.
  2. I'm kind of going to miss that hill, but I didn't have to watch it 81 times a year either. Jacque Jones homering clear over that hill is one of the weirdest random occurrences I've ever seen in a Cubs game.
  3. It's kind of stupid, but it annoys me that the Astros are better than us when we tanked (slightly) less shamelessly than they did, drafted smarter, traded smarter, didn't let a great outfielder go to the Tigers for nothing, and didn't [expletive] over any of our top picks.
  4. It took way too long to get to that GIF.
  5. I am starting Gio Gonzalez in fantasy tonight in hopes of waking up the Cubs' bats. Let's hope it works.
  6. This season is getting really annoying.
  7. This call would definitely not get overturned if it were us challenging based on how the reviews have gone for us.
  8. Gotta be fair, we can't lose to just some of the [expletive] teams and not others.
  9. Taylor Jordan, Strasburg's DL replacement, started today.
  10. June 11: Baez recalled, Baxter to AAA
  11. The reason the CFP semis will be on NYE is the Rose and Sugar bowls have contracts stipulating their games begin at 5 and 8:30 on NYD. Those contracts predate the playoff by a few months. It's not ideal for sure, but I think it will be fine. Fans will adjust. People on the West Coast (1 p.m. semifinal) might not agree. As for the quarterfinal thing, there's no way they'd wait all the way to NYD to play them. When the playoff goes to 8 (or 6, or whatever), I imagine they'll have the quarterfinals around the time the first bowls are currently.
  12. I agree on the first part. I definitely think that if the Cubs do make a win-now move, at least one of those two is going to be going the other way in it.
  13. I was curious about his draft status and was shocked to find out he was an 11th round pick. Signability or what? I did some Googling and it looks like he was considered likely to head to college, but LA bought him out of it. http://www.feelinkindablue.com/2012/06/joc-pederson-dodgers-best-hitting.html
  14. I'm pretty sure the whole "it's been X amount of time so let's check in on outdated stories X, Y and Z" is a beyond-overplayed joke. So it's no surprise whatsoever that Rick Reilly would use it.
  15. It will be free for everyone, yes.

    Rizzo

No one is untouchable but no team is going to give the Cubs enough to make trading Rizzo worthwhile, and bringing it up is pointless
  17. That one gets a pretty high fake rally score for not getting one across the plate. [expletive] stupid loss
  18. Soler on the DL would be a bummer. Baez coming up would be almost a given I feel like. Can't play Herrera/Szczur for 2 weeks
  19. I bought a Santo jersey years back for just this reason - didn't want to replace it.
  20. STL 'honored' the one-year anniversary of his big league debut yesterday, which is I'm sure what prompted whatever mention you saw. No word yet on the honoring of the woman he murdered through stupidity.
  21. He went absolutely all out to get to 3rd on that triple too. He's pretty much everything you could ever want from a baseball player.
  22. Sal Perez flat out won't walk, huh?
  23. Russell made that look easier than it was
