  1. Nothing is impossible until the magic number is 0, but we'd have to win at least 6 of those 7 for a comeback to be even remotely realistic (which in itself is hard to envision), and even then you're talking about having to gain 5.5 games in 25.
  2. And their first two B1G games are Rutgers and IU at home. They're going to be 6-0 without leaving the state or beating anybody worth a [expletive], which will make Ohio St look much more impressive than they should when they beat them by 3 TDs, since they're going to beat everybody besides MSU by 3 TDs.
  3. It's just by turns strange and infuriating that instead of a borderline meaningless mini slump, this one has basically destroyed our chances at the division and damaged the chances of even a home wild card game.
  4. 2008 was pretty damn likable, but these guys may well take the cake just for sheer goofiness.
  5. LOL by that logic only about 15 of our games have mattered all year.
  6. I'm sure a cursory glance at stats would tell me I'm wrong, but it feels like it's been a long long time since we were good at hitting with RISP. 2008 was certainly the last and probably only year I've ever felt confident in that spot over a whole season.
  7. Well, if he was gonna suck at least it kept Jake from a long stint on the bases
  8. She's way better than Kruk or Schilling, which is damning with faint praise, granted.
  9. I don't think I want Pittsburgh to lose anymore (except to us). Getting the wild card game at home would be fine but I'd rather get STL in a 1 game situation than a 3/5 one. Of course however I feel is largely moot since STL doesn't lose more than once a week these days.
  10. It doesn't mean a ton right now but we're only 1 game ahead of LA.
  11. Fox has exclusive national rights during their games, hence that.
  12. Not having rooted for any teams that have had a run anywhere near St. Louis' in my life, I'd like to think I'd enjoy the hell out of it, including having fun with all the lucky breaks such a run would entail. But I guess I can't say for sure. Anyway, Pittsburgh is winning again. Aramis hit a 3 run jack.
  13. And if Arrieta were like the 200th example of this type of [expletive] benefiting the Cubs I'd gleefully point it out
  14. Lance Lynn never had a full season FIP below 3.50 at any minor league level. Just some food for thought in his 2nd straight year of ace level pitching
  15. Broxton hasn't been good in years so of course he gets 2 strikeouts to end that inning.
  16. Don't worry, clutch strikeouts are on the way
  17. These 92 hopper hits are getting annoying
  18. If the neighborhood play exists, and we know it does because we've been screwed by it this year, then this isn't reviewable (even though Russell obviously didn't touch 2nd). Go away Mattingly.
  19. I can understand passively being ok with them winning in this particular circumstance but those words should never appear on this board
  20. Well that's not necessarily true at all.
