  1. No way Auburn is ahead of Wisconsin. I’m really surprised there’s isn’t more talk about them being playoff contenders. With just Minnesota and Michigan left on heir schedule, they have a strong chance of going into the title game undefeated. Their schedule is the most pitiful thing ever put forth by a P5 team. Their only win over a currently ranked team is Northwestern, which is only ranked because they're in the same godawful division as Wisconsin. They'll get in if they win the B1G, but I think Ohio State is going to incinerate them in the league title game (as long as they show up). We're headed for Alabama and Ohio State and very possibly Clemson in the playoff yet again.
  2. Right, this is what happens every time ND ever has a chance to be relevant. Now I remember
  3. I'm not the first person to say so, but all the talk about Alabama and Georgia going 12-0 makes me think at least one is going down tomorrow.
  4. Best Saturday of the season and I'm going to have to work through the bulk of it. Sigh.
  5. I don't know how in the heck Rizzo got the Platinum Glove last year as a 1B, but I really don't know how you go from that to not even getting a Gold Glove this year. He was just as good.
  6. This is terrible. He was so good that I still remember Sergio Mitre beating him in a random game in like 2005 or something because it was one of the most stunning regular-season results ever to me. RIP
  7. I guess Samardzija probably wouldn't be any worse than Lackey.

  9. Well their only chance now is Wisconsin running the table, and even an uneven Ohio State team should be able to handle them if they show up IMO. (That's, of course, assuming Michigan State doesn't beat OSU, which is far from a given at the moment.) I’m not entirely sure an undefeated Wisconsin gets in now. Their best win would be vs a 2 or 3 loss PSU/OSU Would they deserve to? Probably not. But I don't think the powers that be would want to deal with the giant conniption the entire conference would throw. My guess is if Wisconsin ran the table there would be enough carnage elsewhere to justify it. Maybe if the 12-0 Georgia/12-0 Bama scenario played out, plus two of ND/Clemson/Oklahoma winning out, a 13-0 Wisconsin would still get shafted. But that's about the only way I can see it.
  10. i saw someone else make this joke on twitter and i just didn't see how it lands...the bulls have traded a good player for a disappointing return in recent memory...once? (which ironically he was part of the return for) typically they've traded disappointing players, sometimes for surprisingly good returns. They weren't good players, but I'm guessing dumping Taj and McDermott for exactly horsefeathering nothing for no real reason is probably part of the joke.

  12. McGloin playoff starts in 2016: 1 Kap: 0 Obvious move They actually had the same number of playoff starts in 2016. McGloin sucked so much against Denver (6-11 for 21 yards) before getting hurt that the Raiders gave Connor Cook the first start of his career in the playoffs. Damn it, I knew not looking that one up would come back to haunt me.
  13. I have Hopkins and Fuller (of course, I'm also 3-5, so who cares). But really it just sucks because Watson is fun as hell to watch.
  14. But McGloin has moxie. Checkmate McGloin playoff starts in 2016: 1 Kap: 0 Obvious move
  15. Is he all that vilified? I feel like considering the circumstances he takes much less crap than one would expect a high-priced free agent bust to take.
  16. absolutely the events are just crazy and fun enough to justify watching something I don't actually care about. the summer olympics is none of that The events are also frankly more dangerous which makes watching pretty fun. Ski cross, for example, is horsefeathering bonkers. Snowboard cross (obviously the same thing minus the apparatus) seemed like a ludicrous idea when they started it but is consistently my favorite event now.
  17. This franchise is nothing if not befuddling in everything they do.

  19. If I had a playoff 4, Georgia would be 1 followed by Alabama, and you can pretty much arrange Clemson, Oklahoma, Ohio State and ND 3-6 in any order you want and I'll buy it. (Sorry, Miami and Wisconsin.) I think I'd go in that order for now; but even though it doesn't matter, I'm enjoying that half of ESPN has ND 3.
  20. It would be funny, but Penn State is toast barring mass carnage. They won't have the quality wins needed. So far their best win is...Michigan? I guess? And MSU is the only sort-of quality team left on their schedule.
  21. I still can't believe I'm actually typing things like this non ironically, but you're killing ND's playoff resume here.
  22. It definitely was not necessary, but I can buy the idea that some new voices might be a net positive.
  23. You don't think it's fun to root for an overgrown horsefeathering teenager who may or may not ever play another playoff game in his career? I'm having a blast.
  24. What is it with Hoiberg and Cleveland?
