  1. Either the Cubs Athletic guys or the Marquee broadcast mentioned a while ago that whatever it is isn't progressing well. He's been gone long enough now that throwing him on the 60 day DL doesn't really change much at this point. He's going to need some rehab assignments, and I think he's eligible to come off the 60 like, next week. July 22, I just read today, so it'll be a while yet. But it sounds like he probably would've been out that long anyway.
  2. This might not exactly be what you're talking about, but I remember a very hobbled Rizzo and Baez taking ABs in that godforsaken series against the Cardinals in 2019 where Kimbrel gave up like 6 dongs. Granted that was September so there wasn't a roster crunch, but Rizzo led off and could barely walk, and then Javy PH with like, a broken wrist or something? I was so pissed at the team for blowing that year, but at least they showed some sort of effort. Yeah, I was venting but I do remember Javy coming off the bench limping and having a walk-off hit I think last year or the year before. Rizzo miraculously came back and started some games late in 19, don't remember him coming off the bench. It's just incredibly annoying. I actually said to my wife when Boog and JD mentioned that Bryant and Rizzo were supposedly available off the bench that we would probably send up Jose Lobaton instead of them later, and lo and behold.
  3. Maybe other Sinclair owned stations aren't sending the crews on the road and they don't want to draw attention to the distinction? Seems the most likely scenario. He mentions in the column that other Bally stations aren't necessarily going on the road yet, or even soon.
  4. Jon Greenberg said in his Athletic column today that he's hearing that the Marquee crew will be going to all the road games going forward. Not the radio crew, though, which won't travel (unless they drive) until they can do so with the team.
  5. Can also say that about our OF for the most partIt's almost like dumping good players at those positions for no horsefeathering reason at all comes back to bite teams
  6. I've been watching this team for two horsefeathering decades and I don't think anyone has ever actually come off the bench in a key spot when the team claims they're available off the bench. If you're going to send worthless assholes like Lobaton up instead of Bryant or Rizzo with the game on the line then stop horsefeathering pretending they're available.
  7. Whenever Sogard actually hits the ball hard and something bad happens anyway it seems especially cruel
  8. This ump sucks ass. He called a ridiculous strike on Wisdom earlier and just called a 3-0 pitch in the zone ball 4 to Heyward.
  9. That was a hell of a piece of hitting by Wisdom
  10. Maybe stop horsefeathering walking people you idiots
  11. Not sure, last I heard he was about to start a rehab assignment. It’s pretty sad that I’m pining for Matt horsefeathering Duffy to return Either the Cubs Athletic guys or the Marquee broadcast mentioned a while ago that whatever it is isn't progressing well.
  12. Rizzo out again. Wonder how many nights we'll be playing a man down this time. Oh, and Bryant's out too. Fantastic. It's not like this game matters or anything.
  13. Someone posted that week - because that game capped what was a 6 or 7-game winning streak with a couple of wild wins - that "this week has been a Cubs orgy", and that always stuck with me.
  14. Good lord that ball was hit like 210 feet and Joc wasn't even close. This is ridiculous.
  15. That's what you get for horsefeathering walking the likes of Hiura
  16. Javy sure looked safe on the one replay they bothered to show.
  17. I can't imagine it will be long until they're going to all the road games. They sent Elise to LA, for crying out loud
  18. Big start. I haven't seen visual confirmation, but Boog said something about sending it "downstairs" to Elise Menaker, so I think they're actually at a road game for the first time on the Marquee network, which is nice.
  19. The problem with all that optimistic schedule stuff that was earlier in this post is if they don't get their horsefeathers together in like the next 2 weeks, it won't matter because Ricketts is begging to sell, and frankly I think Jed would like to as well if he gets an excuse.
  20. Heyward homer or not, if we keep scoring 2 runs or fewer in almost every game then the Ricketts will gleefully order a sell off
  21. If so, he's at least had enough self-awareness to keep them to himself.
  22. Those are so spectacularly terrible that they're interesting. Not even in the same stratosphere as being good, but interesting.
  23. This could be cool
  24. He's perfectly fine. JD is better, and I don't know why there's no seeming rhyme or reason who is doing what game these days, but none of those things are Dempster's fault.
  25. As Derwood said, there's video of Javy not bothering to take a lead off first on the first pitch of Rizzo's at-bat, either, so it seems like his head just wasn't in it for that whole sequence. I do agree that it is probably more about the team sucking ass right now than about the mistake itself, though.
