I dunno how loud Tiger Stadium is, but it can't be much louder than the Superdome. LSU fans at least 9 to 1 and probably closer to 12.

9th ranked Michigan in '02. Actually, they were 6th. And they were 8th when we beat them in '04. They must be referring to end-of-season rankings because we also beat them in '05 when they were 3rd.

I think if you told me that if Carolina had won their final 5 divisional games, swept the best team in the division (Saints) and their biggest rivals (Bucs) and split their four games with the AFC North back in August, I'd have told you that they were sitting pretty for a Super Bowl run. Damned injuries, underachieving, etc.

Well, this NFL week went about as badly as could rationally be expected outside of Jake Delhomme inexplicably waking up about 10 weeks too late.

what redskins thing? Them losing last night. As it stands now, if they'd gotten it done we'd be a Bears win away from the playoffs. :x Even if the Eagles were in the running for the last playoff spot, I think I'd have a hard time being pissed at other teams for losing. These teams are 7-8... if the Panthers wanted to make the playoffs they should've shown up in their home games against the Giants and Steelers. The games where we were starting Chris Weinke? If we're gonna mention any games in this space, any of the 5 blown 4th-quarter leads would work. Or the phantom no-call on Lito Sheppard in the Philly game. Any of those gets turned around...

Panthers tied at 14 at the half. Figures. Jake Delhomme's been brilliant (13/16, 136 yards, 1 TD to Smith) and the defense has held the Saints to 'only' 160 yards. If the stupid Redskins had come through last night all of this would actually mean something.

As Raw pointed out, we lost to IU to fall to 4-9 on the year. The best thing you can say about this team is that they played a lot of good teams in OOC play and only really got stomped by one of them (Butler). ND beat up Stony Brook without K-Mac to go to 12-1 and tie their longest win streak ever at 11. McAlarney was suspended indefinitely, so Tory Jackson, a true freshman, will take over at PG. He'd better do a lot better than he did yesterday if the Irish are to fulfill the promise they've showed so far. They'll play Louisville on the 3rd (good luck getting any attendance at that one with the Sugar Bowl starting less than an hour after the end of the b-ball game).

Damn it, now I remember why I never liked these pick ems before. It'll be a while before I can even catch CCP because we agree on most of the upcoming games except tomorrow's (I picked Nevada) and only 4 points are at stake there.

Ugh, ND point guard Kyle McAlarney was arrested on marijuana possession hours after the Rider game. He's been suspended for at least the Stony Brook game today and I'd be shocked if he didn't miss a significant chunk of conference season too. What an idiot.

boy if they're not even mediocre and they can stay within 2 touchdowns of michigan, then notre dame must be really lousy. Well, that was predictable. If all else fails, insult ND. Then again, ND was (at least) three games better and beat the crap out of two second-tier Big Ten teams that Minnesota lost to.

Minnesota's a pretty good team, so you're wrong there. The problem is their coach. A couple of years ago they blew a 21 point 4th quarter lead against Michigan. When he has the lead, Mason coaches the 4th quarter like he's about to wet himself. He's awful. A decent coach would've never let that game come to that. Minnesota's 6-7 and got plastered by the only good teams they played (Michigan, OSU, Wisco and Cal all beat them by at least 14, and other than Michigan, a home rivalry game, that margin was at least 25). If Minnesota is a good team, then there are about 50-55 great teams in college football. They're good enough to beat a mediocre Texas Tech team, obviously - the same Texas Tech that lost to Colorado by 24 points. I'm certain they're better than Texas Tech, but unfortunately Texas Tech has a real coach while Minnesota has a moron. Maybe, but good enough to beat a second-tier (if that) Big 12 team does not a good team make. It doesn't even a mediocre team make.
