  1. TT's turning into a stud. 78-76 Bulls.
  2. Big Ben with ten rebounds after one.
  3. Mother of crap, Big Ben just had about the most thunderous dunk I've ever seen! Bulls up 11-4 early
  4. Here's hoping for a double-player jersey retirement ceremony for Maddux and Jenkins. Retiring numbers for two different players is a little ridiculous, especially since Maddux's Cubs career on its own wasn't even close to worthy of a jersey retirement.
  5. My remaining picks: Dallas (-3) over ATLANTA CHICAGO (-13.5) over Tampa Bay CAROLINA (+2.5) over Pittsburgh (I know, shut up  ) GREEN BAY (-5) over Detroit BALTIMORE (-11) over Cleveland Jacksonville (-3.5) over TENNESSEE NY Jets (+3.5) over MINNESOTA (mind-boggling spread) NEW ENGLAND (-11) over Houston NEW ORLEANS (-10) over Washington Miami (+1) over BUFFALO (another mind-boggling spread) Denver (-2.5) over ARIZONA (and another) St. Louis (+1) over OAKLAND (and yet another) Philadelphia (+5.5) over NY GIANTS (seriously, what the hell) SAN DIEGO (-9) over Kansas City INDIANAPOLIS (-3) over Cincinnati
  6. Three or four wins? Yeah thats just not true. i just dont get it. if getting rid of worthless players doesnt really help then why bother? its like saying the game is 98% luck. You could get rid of Neifi Perez and replace him with Barry Bonds at the height of his roid-age and if he only played off the bench it wouldn't change THAT much.
  7. I can't ever remember seeing such a hugely backloaded deal before.
  8. Seems like a semi-risky move for Boston. Anaheim gets a good prospect.
  9. I'm just excited that we finally have a pinch-hitter that won't make me half-wish the pitcher was still batting in his place.
  10. Notre Dame plays Elon tomorrow night. Ball State hosts Valparaiso tomorrow afternoon.
  11. I'm not putting too many points on ND in deference to Vance and B.
  12. I'll take SF. I win, you lose. Alex Smith's quietly becoming a half-decent NFL QB.
  13. Maps for this week: http://gribblenation.net/nflmaps/15-CBS.gif http://gribblenation.net/nflmaps/15-FOX-E.gif http://gribblenation.net/nflmaps/15-FOX-L.gif Since I'll be home this weekend, I'm right on the edge of Steelers-Panthers and Broncos-Cards. I know the season's pretty much over for me, but I'd still like to see the Panthers...
  14. Once and for all, we need to decide this. Would you rather move all ATS picks to the thread in Fantasy Sports or put them in the weekly "other games" thread?
  15. I'll take SF.
  16. Peyton Manning or Drew Brees? Somehow I ended up with both in the draft. Who should I start now?
  17. Is this in the NSBB league?
  18. You should attend any Bulls games. Fixed. :( But I have tickets to go to the 12/23 game against Charlotte - finally my first game. (Should've gone to Game 6 last year but the NBA decided to not have the first round take 3 weeks like usual, so I wasn't done with school in time to get up there.)
  19. So was Ernie Banks And Devin Hester, also alot of hot chicks. At one point I thought it was the Cubs cameraman, because he was showing all the hotties. On a scale of 1-10, here is how I would rate the reaction of the fans: 10 out of 10 - Cheering for the Bulls to hit 100 for the Big Macs 9 out of 10 - Hester on the Jumbotron (this was extended for about 30-40 seconds too, a lot of people stood up and clapped) 7 out of 10 - Banks 6 out of 10 - Soriano (a noticible contingent of boos from White Sox fans, who didn't boo Banks) 3 out of 10 - The rest of the game action. Bulls fans are lifeless unless they are begged to cheer, and most of the time its not during game action. Don't forget 11 out of 10 - Booing the Bulls' failure to get to 100 That was freaking embarrassing at the end of the game tonight. I hate our fans sometimes. They don't deserve all the compliments BG gives them. I was there. Know what you're talking about before you lash out. The booing was directed at Seatle, who got the ball with 26 or so seconds and then ran clock. No way. I heard boos when we missed a shot with 99 points and Seattle got the ball. The fans were booing the missed shot before the Sonics began running out the clock as I recall. To each his own, think as you like. Either way there was NO ill will towards the players after the final buzzer. It was actually a bit comical in the stands. From the 6 or so total attempts at 100, to the final 30 seconds. The fans had a good time with it. Oh, I noticed there was no ill will after the buzzer. I was sarcastically happy about that because of the events of the previous couple minutes. Either way, the whole 'getting psyched for 100' thing annoys me severely. I've never seen the UC get excited during a regular season game unless it's one of those ridiculous Ben Gordon fourth quarters or a huge comeback, but when 100 time comes everyone goes nuts. It's a joke really.

  22. Good minor leaguers will occasionally fail at the big league level. It's the same principle that applies to college athletes not always managing to hit the big-time. It's a simple weed-out process. Bad minor leaguers are highly unlikely to suddenly become better players when facing a higher degree of competition. In fact, the only possible way I can see this happening is if a player felt that he was too good to be playing minor league ball and did not give even close to 100 percent effort. And even then I don't see how a player talented enough to believe this wouldn't put up at least decent numbers.
  23. Playing teams without their best player is fun. Two games above .500 for the first time this season!
  24. :?: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/college/news/2003/08/11/maryland_probation_ap/ surprised you didn't know about that - there's a good chance it's the reason he ended up at ND. Most people thought he was headed for Maryland until the recruiting fiasco. Hmmm, well thank the lord Maryland's coaches lost their ethics because without him we have no defense.
  25. Career records aren't the best of things to look at in terms of a pro prospect. Both Quinn and Palmer didn't play with that many playmakers at other skill positions and Quinn hasn't played with a good defense. And, of course, Carson Palmer was coached by Norm Chow for just the last two seasons...and really had one good year at USC - his senior season. Looking at stats isn't the best idea - gotta look at the overall picture. Being able to run a pro offense was good for Carson and it will be good for Brady at the next step. Brady doesn't have the arm strength that Carson did, I think their accuracy is about equal. When coming out of college, Carson was a better prospect than Quinn will be. But in this era where franchise QBs are king, no way Brady Quinn shouldn't go with the top pick. I was just responding to BigSlick's post that Quinn might end up busting because he "can't come through in big games". Of course, I don't consider 22/45, 330 yards, 3 TD, 0 INTs, and 70 rushing yards (his USC stats) when your team is letting you down repeatedly with dropped balls and no blocking "not coming through", but that's another thread.
