  1. In happier January 3rd ND developments, the Irish moved up to 17th in the AP poll, then beat Louisville in the Big East opener 78-62 behind 19 from Russ Carter, 15 from Luke Harangody, and a career-high 14 from new point guard Tory Jackson. Rick Pitino called the Irish a "legitimate contender" and asked why we weren't ranked higher after the game. :D It's ND's longest winning streak (12) in over 20 years.

Great game, wasn't it? ;) *looks at sig* Not so much. I'll credit your fans for being classy though. One thanked us for coming to New Orleans, and right after it was over, a few wished us a safe trip back to South Bend. When someone said "One day ND will win a bowl", I responded with "I'd settle for being in the game in the 4th quarter". JMR is good (very good), but the Instant History crowd saying he'll suddenly be better than Quinn are crazy. The offensive line, the whole defense, and Rhema McKnight (who has to have dropped more passes in the last two games than any ND receiver in history) totally let him down. Again.
  3. It's never the stars that hit those shots. It's Leandro Barbosa or Flip Murray or Damon Jones. Pisses me off.

I dunno how loud Tiger Stadium is, but it can't be much louder than the Superdome. LSU fans at least 9 to 1 and probably closer to 12.

9th ranked Michigan in '02. Actually, they were 6th. And they were 8th when we beat them in '04. They must be referring to end-of-season rankings because we also beat them in '05 when they were 3rd.
  6. I think if you told me that if Carolina had won their final 5 divisional games, swept the best team in the division (Saints) and their biggest rivals (Bucs) and split their four games with the AFC North back in August, I'd have told you that they were sitting pretty for a Super Bowl run. Damned injuries, underachieving, etc.
  7. Another L. I've plummeted from 98th percentile awful quickly.
  8. Grossman went 2/12, 33 yards, 3 picks. Meaningless game I know, but wow.

Ugliest things I've ever seen. I'm lucky I didn't watch that game.

More class by USC. You recruited the guy, you deal with the consequences.
  11. Well, this NFL week went about as badly as could rationally be expected outside of Jake Delhomme inexplicably waking up about 10 weeks too late.
  12. what redskins thing? Them losing last night. As it stands now, if they'd gotten it done we'd be a Bears win away from the playoffs. :x Even if the Eagles were in the running for the last playoff spot, I think I'd have a hard time being pissed at other teams for losing. These teams are 7-8... if the Panthers wanted to make the playoffs they should've shown up in their home games against the Giants and Steelers. The games where we were starting Chris Weinke? If we're gonna mention any games in this space, any of the 5 blown 4th-quarter leads would work. Or the phantom no-call on Lito Sheppard in the Philly game. Any of those gets turned around...
  13. Shock of the day
  14. what redskins thing? Them losing last night. As it stands now, if they'd gotten it done we'd be a Bears win away from the playoffs. :x
  15. This Redskins thing is really pissing me off now. Delhomme to Smith for another TD.
  16. Gamble pick-sixes Jamie Martin, now in for Drew Brees.
  17. And damn it Lions, remember who you are in the 2nd half
  18. Panthers tied at 14 at the half. Figures. Jake Delhomme's been brilliant (13/16, 136 yards, 1 TD to Smith) and the defense has held the Saints to 'only' 160 yards. If the stupid Redskins had come through last night all of this would actually mean something.
  19. As Raw pointed out, we lost to IU to fall to 4-9 on the year. The best thing you can say about this team is that they played a lot of good teams in OOC play and only really got stomped by one of them (Butler). ND beat up Stony Brook without K-Mac to go to 12-1 and tie their longest win streak ever at 11. McAlarney was suspended indefinitely, so Tory Jackson, a true freshman, will take over at PG. He'd better do a lot better than he did yesterday if the Irish are to fulfill the promise they've showed so far. They'll play Louisville on the 3rd (good luck getting any attendance at that one with the Sugar Bowl starting less than an hour after the end of the b-ball game).
  20. Damn it, now I remember why I never liked these pick ems before. It'll be a while before I can even catch CCP because we agree on most of the upcoming games except tomorrow's (I picked Nevada) and only 4 points are at stake there.
  21. Rest of my picks: Kansas City (-2.5) Minnesota (+2.5) Carolina (-3) NY Jets (-12.5) Pittsburgh (+6) Dallas (-12.5) Seattle (+3.5) Tennessee (-3) Cleveland (+4) Philadelphia (-8) Arizona (+13.5) San Francisco (+10.5) Buffalo (+9) Indianapolis (-9) Chicago (-3)
  22. Bye Carolina. :( I picked the Skins by the way
  23. With the win, the red-hot Bulls are now 2nd place in the entire East, one-half game behind the Pistons. :D
  24. :x Had Navy in that game.
  25. Ugh, ND point guard Kyle McAlarney was arrested on marijuana possession hours after the Rider game. He's been suspended for at least the Stony Brook game today and I'd be shocked if he didn't miss a significant chunk of conference season too. What an idiot.
