  1. This sounds like a very fair deal to me. I think it is something that Schmidt would take. He is a very solid number two who would fit perfect behind big Z.
  2. Haven't paged through, but Buster Olney was just on with Dan Patrick and said that Manny could be had now for a deal similar to what the Yankees got for Mussina. I think Hendry should offer Pie, Mateo, and Novoa for Manny
  3. That stinks, I really wanted Wolf. He will be a good bargain compared to guys like Meche and Lilly who are worse and will get paid more. I don't know who the Dodgers would want for Penny, maybe bullpen help? He would be the #2 type we are looking for though.
  4. I've been mulling a Jones to Pirates possibility ever since I read that. Jones would be a huge upgrade over Burnitz (HA!), and if they're that desperate perhaps they'd give up one of their young pitchers if we package Jones in a deal with one of our expendable ones. Perhaps Ian Snell (fingers crossed). Welcome to the forum! I wonder if the Pirates would trade within the division? They should offer Jones for Snell, Duke, or Maholm see if they bite
  5. I love that Wolfs name has been mentioned. I have been wanting Jim to get him all offseason. Wolf had TJ last year but has put up good numbers the last few years in a hitter friendly Philly park. I think of all the pitchers out there he will be by far the best bargain of the bunch. Saving money on him, while still getting a quality player, would leave us money to get someone like Schmidt.
  6. According to Rosenthals latest the Cubs are still after Lugo. To play CF or SS. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6192462
  7. Have chocolate milk and see if you can drink a gallon of it without throwing up. Good Luck  Are we alotted a prize if we can accomplish this Tim will give you free premium  just kidding
  8. Have chocolate milk and see if you can drink a gallon of it without throwing up. Good Luck
  9. Yeah, posting after midnight on weekends should definitely be banned. It's still before midnight Chicago time
  10. Right on, man! All this twaddle about "stats" is just one more attempt by our oppressively monolithic Western culture to subvert your deep-seated natural instincts and to denigrate the rightful primacy of your sociocultural background and condition by subjugating you with it's fascistic "ideas" and "facts." This cult of heartless, dreamkilling fascists plots to rip us out of the rich cultural tapestry into which we were born, and to rend us from the abiding connection to our cultural roots which is the source of all truly abiding nourishment and sustenance. Thousands of endangered sac bunts die every day, and what do we do? But you can see through this--you and perhaps you alone can see through their imperalistic claims of "objective truth" and obsession with illusory "facts." You and perhaps you alone can see that they wish to tear you from your natural impulses-- the exhilaration of exciting plays unmediated by reflection. You and St. Morgan may be our last hope-- to protect the sanctity of pristine baseball-in-the-moment experience and anecdotes-around-the-fire from the fetid conspiracy of these boot-licking statistics lovers! Down with the fascism of facts! Or not. Whoa
  11. It's passed the Matsuzaka thread. I actually meant the hits for the day. Just wait until contract details are confirmed. This thread is going to be top 3 easy. There are also a number of people who only come to NSBB during the weekdays. Yeah. Goony hasn't even seen this yet. Add another 30 pages on from him
  12. Nice list. Give me Bedard or Jennings and Wolf(would be the best bargain of the 2nd-tier guys)
  13. I have a feeling Hendry will pull of a deal very similar to this one. Probably at the winter meetings
  14. With Pie now expendable we could build a deal around him to get a good starter. Maybe someone like E. Santana, Bonderman, Bedard
  15. Your source must be made up. Who did you get that garbage from?
  16. Talk about some real B.S.
  17. Bruce, anyword as to what is next on his agenda? I assume pitching and will he look for one via trade and another as a FA?
  18. Leading off a game with a home run is a huge start. Teams that score first in the first inning have a much better chance of winning. I don't know the exact numbers, but they are greatly towards the team scoring first. A leadoff homerun gets the team jacked up from the start.
  19. We still have a few holes in the rotation. These need to be addressed with the money we have left. I see Jim getting either Westbrook or Jennings via trade. Then signing Wolf or Batista. Z Jennings Wolf Hill Prior/Miller What are your hopes/predictions?
  20. I look for a trade to get a pitcher now. Guys who could be traded for: Westbrook, Lieber, Hudson, Garcia, and Jennings. Then a signing like Batista or Wolf
  21. I don't believe this, Hendry has never wanted to give 6 years let alone 8. I don't think it will be for eight years.
  22. I beat you to it by 1-min. we must have been typing at the same time. lol
  23. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6188248 The Cubs are on the verge of signing free-agent outfielder Alfonso Soriano, FOXSports.com has learned Eight years?
