  1. Baker has final say, but until I hear differently I can only assume Rothschild has agreed with the usage patterns. A pitching coach does not go to the GM and ask for permission to work on mechanics. That's ridiculous. Pitching coaches are constantly monitoring and working with pitchers and their mechanics. Management has to have some say when you're changing mechanics and style of an All-Star caliber pitcher. Don't think that just the pitching coach can mess around with their mechanics. It's definitely a group effort sitting down and reviewing video/footage trying to pinpoint the flaw of delivery or arm angle. I think Rothschild and Baker overused them in 2003, but being injured all during 2004 and 2005 falls squarly on the female twins (Wood/Prior).
  2. I completely disagree that there is nothing they can do about it. It's pretty clear that misuse and overuse played some role in their injuries. Mechanics supposedly played another role. The pitching coach is very much responsible for those things. He's not 100% responsible, but he takes some blame. Baker has the final say in "misuse." Not to mention Rothschild isn't going to screw with their mechanics without some kind of "ok" from upper management and Baker. You really only bother to change mechanics when the issue is reoccuring, which had to happen with Wood.
  3. Wow! So I take it you've been pleased with Rothschild. If so, why? I'm neutral to Rothschild, because of what he had to say in the offseason. I think he's a coach that wants to stay in Chicago, and really has helped someone like Carlos blossem into a good starter. He seems to be doing well with Marshall, and you can't blame him for the twin sisters (Wood/Prior) for getting hurt. Wood and Prior are just flat out injury prone. Theres nothing Larry can do to change that. This is also his FIRST season with a good closer and a good bullpen.
  4. You want to turn the team around? Fire Baker, Clines, Sarge and Pole DFA Bynum Trade or DFA Hairston Give Neifi a complete bench role, or trade him. Acquire a platoon partner for Jones Get a coach that will only award performing players, with higher batting slots in the lineup.
  5. They raised the payroll due to more publicity, winning, more fan base, and an alarmingly larger grasp of the city of Chicago.
  6. I think I might have to be a White Sox fan now. OBP and good coaching > payroll
  7. im just tired of the Cubs, im tired of losing, im tired of sucking, i'm tired of the emptyness EVERY single season. i swear to god, one more year of this crap, and i'm done. I'll be a White Sox fan if I have to.
  8. I'm going to watch the Disney channel instead.
  9. Could the Cubs possibly bring on Brenly to play skipper? I have to admit I do like his style of coaching.
  10. time to watch some real baseball....going to watch either the Red Sox, or the Blue Jays
  11. Okay, I'm all for trading Guzman and Hill for an offensive punch in Cabrara or Abreu
  12. I think its dumb to think 100 pitches are really a whole lot. Whatever happened to the old schoolers? Whatever happened to the old days when pitchers actually pitched instead of sat on the DL and cried about being hurt? Wood, Prior, Burnett, Pavano, Beckett are just a few that come to mind that have spent ALOT of time on the DL and in simulated games. I think athletes as a whole in all sports are becoming soft. Honestly, that is why our era of sports in my opinion is weak.
  13. NOBODY CAN WALK OR HIT OFF OF CY BOROWSKI
  14. I hate Neifi so much...i cant word it good enough to explain it
  15. here it is... Neifi Mabry Pierre back to back to back jacks!
  16. Hairston, Jones and Pierre got all that speed dude. Thats why all 3 are O-fers today.
  17. I would love this time if we didn't have Neifi Hairston Bynum Easily the worst 3 players in our division.
  18. If our season is over, we might as well dump Rusch/Williams, and bring up Hill/Gooz
