  1. Cubs win tonight 9-4, then go on to close it out in 5 at Wrigley. KB is going to be grand marshal of the dong parade. Go Cubs!
  2. VERY close. For some reason it's burned in my memory to this day, too. I believe it's Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-B-A-B-A-Select Start I always used the code as Trip typed it. IGN has it that way, too. http://www.ign.com/cheats/games/contra-nes-5653 I wonder if it works both ways. Anyway, I really posted just so that I could post in a Cubs WS game thread. Cubs win tonight, and wrap it up Sunday in Wrigley.
  3. I'm guessing he's referring to the getty images stuff. Yes. That is what I was referring to.
  4. hot damn, I was looking for a pic of him last night, but I couldn't find one with the number showing Definitely took some work to find it. Hope it's ok by the posting rules.

  6. Dude he's been really good his last handful of starts. Meh. Maybe not. [tweet] [/tweet]
  7. Don't know about their radio feed, but earlier on the Reds TV broadcast the color analyst (Jeff Brantley? I think they rotate different guys in there.) said that the Cubs were too far behind the Pirates to have any realistic chance at catching them. He said, definitively, that the Cubs would be playing the WC game in PNC. Then, literally the very next thing he said was that the Giants have a chance to catch the Dodgers because "crazier things have happened."
  8. [/spoil] I would gladly spend a full day each week without the use of my legs if I made 30 million a year. Me too, but that would make me [expletive] bricks if I were a Nats fan.
  9. [tweet] [/tweet] Yikes. Is that normal? That does not seem normal.
  10. I much prefer lurking on Tapatalk over lurking on the mobile site. It is much easier to jump to the first new post in a thread on Tapatalk.
  11. Weather looks way crappy for tomorrow FWIW, one of the local weather guys was claiming it will be "periods of heavy rain, but not a total wash out." Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  12. WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW, BURKE BADENHOP?!?!?! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  13. Where are you getting that information from? If they were not going to air the Cubs feed then it was because they are not allowed to air it. They wouldn't be able to just decide to show it now. I looked at the MLB EI schedule and the guide on my TV Wednesday. Both showed the Padres feed only. This afternoon the guide showed the Cubs feed, and now I'm watching it. Either the guide and schedule were wrong all along, or someone made a change. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk Those advanced schedules are not always up accurately, but I set mine to record last night and it was on there. It could have just been wrong when I looked at it, but when MLB EI doesn't carry a particular team's feed it is usually because it is on a local OTA station and there's no satellite feed to pick up. When I saw the "change" I assumed that ESPN and MLB had gotten a satellite feed set up so that they could carry Bryant's ABs live, and MLB EI just went ahead and picked up the feed because why not. 15. Don't know if this belongs here or in the game thread, but as of Wednesday night MLB EI was not going to carry the Cubs broadcast today (presumably because it is on a local OTA station). The Cubs feed is on MLB EI now, though. So, it looks like Bryant's dongs are having far-reaching effects already. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  16. That or maybe when he called the Red Sox to tell them he's signing with the Cubs, they asked him to do them a favor for old time's sake and give them one last meeting before he completely closes the door. That would account for the reports of Red Sox execs' late night meeting w/Lester, as well as the "delay" of an announcement until tomorrow.
  17. It appears that Tunney has been pro-RTO's, and certainly anti-Cubs, throughout this process. Given that, it would have been a bad idea to go to the nuclear option with the RTO's prior to getting everything through the City Council, at least. That happened last Summer (and even that hasn't stopped Tunney from dicking it up, remember). So, pursuing the non-litigation route up through last Summer was justifiable. I think it is reasonable to argue that this "[expletive] you, we're doing it anyway" to the RTO's should have come last fall. However, we've since heard that the whole thing is being held up by 1 or 2 RTO's while the rest are onboard with the Cubs. So, as of last fall there probably was some legitimate hope that things could actually be resolved through negotiation.
  18. I'd rather stare directly into the sun then spend a minute looking at Kentucky The folks down here seem to be perfectly happy with that arrangement.
  19. This is the best explanation for the Cubs reluctance to begin renovations that I've seen: That's from Brett's "Convention Info Dump" on the renovations. http://www.bleachernation.com/2014/01/20/convention-info-dump-wrigley-field-renovation-and-the-ongoing-rooftop-saga/ Also, under those circumstances if the Cubs actually start the renovations, they lose whatever leverage they have with Rahm Emanuel. Once they sink money into the building, Rahm would know that they more or less have to go through with the whole thing -- and that's all he wants. At that point he has little incentive to lean on the rooftops.
  20. I love it. God bless you, Ken Strejc. Yours is the voice of reason among the masses.
