The "TM" mark does not actually appear on any of the Cubs jerseys, the R does. Besides that, I'm sure other teams use the R on some logos and the TM on others because the use of those restrictive designations is determined by the mark you are protecting. Either way, unless TM is actually on a jersey it doesn't belong in the article. The article is about uniforms, not logos. The writer even made the point that those restrictive marks show up everywhere for every team mark except on the uniforms.

I have Matt Holliday in a non-keeper 5x5 league. Today I was offered Daisuke Matsuzaka straight up for Holliday. I know Holliday has been hurt (then again so has Dice-K), but there's no way I'm gonna trade a first round pick who should have his best numbers ahead of him for a pitcher who is probably more than halfway to his W total at this point. Maybe this doesn't seem like a stupid offer to you guys, but it did to me.

We have a new guy playing in our league this year (new to fantasy altogether) and he is completely in love with starting pitching. Early in the year he traded Jose Reyes for Volquez and Bonderman. At the time there was no real indication that Volquez would be this good and plenty to indicate that Bonderman would suck again. No idea why he made that move or several others after (including straight up dropping Sabathia after his first start). The guy who cleaned house on that trade already had Hanley Ramirez and Miguel Tejada. So, he had a logjam at SS. For some reason he got his mind set on trading Ramirez for pitching (his autodrafter did screw his pitching, but still). I got him down to Scott Kazmir and Houston Street for Ramirez. I was pretty happy with that :thumbsup: Turns out a couple of other guys were trying to get similar deals but I clicked "accept" first. heh heh BTW, yes, the trades were all accepted by the league. Our league view is that vetoes are meant to prevent collusion, not to evaluate who is getting the best end of the deal.

I am probably a little late on this one but I'll throw my $0.02 in anyway. Volquez's home park is a launching pad (only 31 games played there w/o a HR). IMO, that means he will likely pay for the walks all the more at some point. A walk at Skydome doesn't put a pitcher in nearly as bad a shape as a walk in GABP. Take Marcum (or be glad you did if you listened to the others).

Seeing Dusty run Volquez out there for the seventh even though he was at 94 pitches and had a 9-0 lead had to make you smile, though. I was at the game and a group of Reds fans (who had actually made a few intelligent observations throughout the game) behind us murmured about that one. In the end they decided that Baker wanted to let him keep his shut out. They didn't seem at all convinced though. It was like they could see the white elephant in the room but they just wanted sooo much to ignore him and just be happy with the game's outcome.

I don't think so. Baseball is a team game unless the pitcher strikes out 27 guys and gives up no hits. If a player makes an error in the field (non pitcher) and the next guy comes up and hits a tater why should the pitcher bear the brunt? because theoretically, wouldn't he just give up that home run the next inning? Only if you assume that both Dunn and Dempster would have approached the AB in the same way under the different set of circumstances.

Good catch on the messed up "E" in Fukudome. It looks like the arching is off too, but it could just be the picture. The lettering also looks too satin-like. I won't buy anything but the authentic ones from reputable dealers. Fakes are just too much trouble. Spend $50 - $100 on a shirt that may look like crap when you get it, if you get it. Even if it does look ok the fakes don't hold up like the real thing. Buttons come off. Patches unravel and bleed in the wash. I basically hate fakes if you can't tell. I am sure there are some decent ones, but I just can't see how its worth it. I got an authentic Sandberg in 1993 for my birthday. I voluntarily retired it on Ryne Sandberg day at Wrigley over ten years later. It still makes an appearance every once in a while when I need it. It still looks exactly like it did the day I got it. In the end, like the others have said, you get what you pay for.

No. That was the point of my post. If you live in a team's local market and their game is not shown on your local channel it is still blacked out on all alternative channels. You can't see the game on EI even by watching another team's broadcast because it will be blacked out.

i've talked to DirecTV about it and they say it's 100% on MLB, and they (DTV) are just following the rules given to them I did the same thing and got the same answer. The agent I talked to agreed to forward the complaint, but I doubt that will actually happen. I live in KY so the Reds are the only team affected by the blackouts (except the Saturday Fox stuff) and I don't give a crap about watching them anyway. The way it works for Reds fans is VERY stupid, however. The local FSN in Cincy doesn't carry all of the Reds games. As far as I know several of their games go un-televised in their local market. I looked at their schedule a while back and I think I counted five games this month that weren't scheduled to be shown in Cincy. So, MLB could market EI to Reds fans (and other small market fans as well I am sure) as a way to see all of their team's games since all of them are carried by the other team's TV network. Of course, they choose to black the games out instead. Makes absolutely no sense, IMO.

I agree with BCVM about the size/proportion thing. Something was just off. IIRC, I also felt the numbers on those unis rode too low on the players back. They should have been set higher on the jersey. I like the road greys the team wears now. Road greys are baseball. That's the way it is, the way it always has been, and the way it should always be -- especially for a venerable franchise like the Cubs. I don't think the current Cubs road design is untouchable by any means, but to assault its grey-ness is downright communist. Not sure about the first part of your post, but I wholeheartedly agree with that last part.

I freakin' hate those blue pajama top things -- especially when worn at home. The Cubs' pinstripe home unis are among baseball's very best uniforms (among the best in any sport, IMO). I despise seeing those blue things take their place. I don't mind the blue jerseys as fan gear because that is what they have always looked like to me. I just don't want to see them on the field.
