  1. Guys, Barrett's offense will be completely replaced by Cliff Floyd. He's been hot enough to raise his average above .250
  2. Of course Belly, Lieber and Flash have to be on the list. I would say I miss Trachsel, but I get to see him pitch constantly because of my wife the Mets fan. And yes, Samuel Peralta Sosa most of all.
  3. The middle relief on the Mets is actually better then Trachsel. Doesn't anyone on the Cubs remember when Trachs pitched for the team? The way to beat him is to take pitches, even strikes. He gets frustrated deep in counts and throws gopher balls...and lets not forget how terrible he is out of the stretch if you actually get runners on. Now I understand against great pitchers you want to be aggressive, but Steve is the type of pitcher that you hit hard between pitches 70-100; 13 pitches in two innings against him is criminal.
  4. Not much to do around RFK. My reccomendation is to take the Metro to the stadium so you can be parked downtown and do something in a cool part of DC after the game.
  5. Steve Stone said the same thing. Even cooler if its in the Cubs' media notes. I'm guessing Stoney told Keith.
  6. Or, you could swing at the first pitch, Neifi.
  7. Thats how to beat Wagner in this situation, work the count. Billy tends to have trouble focusing in non-save situations.
  8. While 5 were earned, there should only have been four thanks to the disputed play at second. Too bad Dusty didn't win his argu...oh wait, he didn't do anything about his player getting spiked.
  9. SNY announcers say Beltran has a sore right knee and this is just precautionary. It should be noted that when the Mets say "precautionary" thats what they mean, not "he's going to spend the next six months on the DL."
  10. Not like it matters...I'm more ticked about X-NAD and the spiking at second going unretaliated.
  11. The Mets announcers are talking about how clean the play was...uhm, Nady was way off the bag.
  12. Keith Hernandez on SNY says the high grass at Wrigley is part of the reason for Pierre's slump and he heat up when management decided to cut the grass. Assuming Keith is correct, and thats a big assumption, we can add it to the list of "duhs" to the Front office....if they were grooming the ballpark as though this were one of the power teams of the past even while signing toolsy speed guys, well, its stupid to give other teams the home field advantage when they visit the confines.
  13. As has been said before, it would be bad policy to say "ok! We're going to trade everyone!" it automatically lowers everyone's trade value.
  14. Morgan may be on more, but I hear McCarver more as I'm more likely to watch a WS game then a Sunday night game.
  15. What I'm wondering about is what happens now that all the horses that are going to be healthy are out of the stable and the team still loses. Does Dusty blame (oh wait...Dusty doesn't blame)...err I mean, Does Dusty use the excuse (oh wait...Dusty doesn't make excuses)...ok...Does Dusty calmly explain the cause-effect relationship between Wood's injury and the team not playing well, or does he take a tire iron to Aramis Ramirez?
  16. All I can say is: where the heck was the talking ball last night? Thats my favorite part of FOX broadcasts because I don't have to hear the announcers. Does whoever wrote those Joe Buck commercials realize that everyone hates him and that having him act like a put out jerk on a commercial only makes that worse?
  17. Ok, not to get political, but this is screaming for it. This sounds like the president talking about Rumsfeld. Soon Hendry is going to start referring to himself as 'The Decider.'
  18. I actually stopped paying for extra innings and sent MLB a letter saying that I stopped because I couldn't get all the games like I can for my NBA package. I didn't see a point to pay to watch two games a week as my erratic work hours prevent me from catching games on a consistent basis. They wrote back and said, "Thanks for your support of Major League Baseball. We're sorry to lose you as a subscriber to MLB Extra Innings, but hope to see you at the ballpark soon!" Good thing my wife's firm is doing traffic studies for the Mets, or they wouldn't even see that. Also a good thing my cable carries WGN.
  19. How about this...each team gets a point for total wins, and the team from the league that has won more interleague games gets another point for each win difference. In other words, the Mets would have to be like 60 games better then the Tigers to get home field advantage.
  20. Why would the Royals want to pick up Jones' contract?
  21. Subtly? Any player that does well when Dusty's managing is because of Dusty. Any other player "wasn't ready." He should have taken credit for Chris Capuano's success.
  22. Just wanted to chime in late here...did anyone notice that Wright looked like a midget next to all those other guys?
