  1. But what we'll end up with is Pierre, Jones, Murton/Pagan.
  2. Yeah...I'm not enjoying Z's race for the Cy Young award right now.
  3. Do we know the Natties acted in bad faith, or did the Reds not do their homework?
  4. I can agree on that...And how sad is that? We can have a batting title winner in Barrett and a Cy Young winner in Z and still not even touch .500 ball. What a waste... Remember in 1987 the Cubs had the MVP and Sutcliffe was one point away from winning the Cy Young and that team was as bad as this one (although that team was more fun).
  5. There are several cool things that could happen this year: Z wins the Cy Young Barrett wins the batting title The Kiddie Corps pitching staff gets in a groove Matt or Ronny (or both) close out the season strong... But all of those are individual things that would be nice. The Cubs w-l record is meaningless at this point.
  6. http://www.theonion.com/content/node/51322 Takes a shot at Jim...but hey, its the Onion.
  7. His relationship is running hot right now... If ARAM leaves if Dusty leaves, I say bye bye ARAM.
  8. Well it was a wrist, but DLEE pretty much did the same thing a month ago.
  9. I thought it was funny on the rain delay press conference that Baker was talking about DP's and how the Cubs don't turn enough of them. It was classic Dusty double talk where he talks about how his teams turn double plays, his teams are in the top three in DP's turned every year...apparently when his teams play good defense, they're his teams. When they don't, its the players fault. Well after he goes on like this for awhile, my sarcastic Mets' fan Wife turns to me and goes..."Didn't he get the memo that they traded Todd Walker? They can stop trashing him the press now...its not their job to lower his trade value anymore." Ha ha ha...
  10. Guys, I think your asking a lot of Bruce to patiently explain to the GM of the team how he should run the team. Sadly, that isn't the role of a reporter. Bruce's service to us is that he does a great job covering the team, asking the right questions, and writing the stories and opinion pieces that support our POV. And for that, I'm very grateful.
  11. I dunno...ask Juan Pierre or Carlos Delgado.
  12. Yikes, calling Needles beautiful!? Heading any further west? Thats where Snoopy's brother is from.
  13. Um, you're nuts. Mets fans have loved Reyes for a long time. But the only reason people think he is that good is because the other 7 spots in the lineup are great. Umm...I have relatives that a major Mets fans and trust me last year he was not loved! Um, I live and work around thousands of Mets fans and trust me, last year he was loved. I go to 15-20 Mets games a year. Have a wife who's an independent contractor for the Mets and Reyes has been loved by the vast majority of Mets fans since before his long stint on the DL. I'm sure there were some people that were iffy on his weird running style or initially erratic play at second; but he was certainly a fan favorite on some of those bad Mets teams we saw before last season.
  14. When he talks about "fixing" the team, is it just because he doesn't want to say "neutering" the team on the air?
  15. How do you feel about this statement now?
  16. The love fans of this team have for Greg Maddux has always baffeled me. One of the funniest moments in professional sports was the befuddled look on Greg's face when all you could here were boo's when they announced the rosters for the 2003 NLDS game 1....which you might remember was in Atlanta.
  17. Because this award is voted upon by the baseball writer's associated ; I imagine Z will have a hard time winning such an award because he's a "bad guy" that has a "temper problem." How often when listening to road broadcasters do we here about his wild temper? He'll have to win 20 and have the best era to even have a shot at this award until he's a couple years removed from his recent most recent controversy. Unless he becomes a Red Sock, then his temper will be cute.
  18. Fingers crossed he doesn't hit the rookie wall...
  19. With the exception of Albert Belle when I was in college, I had never heckeled a player until the 2004 Chicago Cubs. You should try it, its cathartic
  20. Monday: Cubs suck, not worth the hassle of going to queens. Tuesday: Cubs suck, softball playoffs. Wednesday: Cubs suck, not worth taking a vacation day. I actually had tickets to Tuesday's game (from work), but weather rescheduled our softball season and I wasn't going to miss the playoffs for this crappy team. Yeah...well, that would do it. LIRR makes the trip to Shea so easy for me that I don't miss games just for the commute, but unless you work in Midtown, I get your point. ...but I could have used ya! All the Cubs' fans looked at me like I was nuts when I heckeled everytime Dusty or Larry showed up.
  21. There were four batters that reached base. Two of them were on "seeing eye" singles that went "just past" Ronny and Neifi. He was pulled after a 5 pitch walk to Reyes that brought up LoDuca. Since Reyes was meaningless at first (tieing run on third, winning run on second in the Bottom of the 9th), I didn't understand why Reyes wasn't intentionally walked anyway, but that was just me. And you missed games in Shea? Whats your excuse :)
  22. I've thought about it...but that was more for the Cubs' draft sake then anything else.
  23. When we got to the ballpark yesterday and saw the Cubs' lineup I looked at my Mom and said "Game Over, the Cubs won't score a run in 9 innings today." She agreed.
  24. Are we sure Nevin is playing? He did make an out in his ph yesterday, and Mabry had way more pitches per at bat. Can't strike out on one pitch.
