  1. Actually, "player relations" are one of the few explanations that can be given for re-signing Neifi, unless Hendry really is a 100% complete moron. By all accounts, Aramis Ramirez is an emotionally fragile guy, he was hurt by the departure of Sammy and particularly, Moises Alou. Now he has a countryman on the team in Neifi, and Furcal would complete the Dominican version of the Cub Musketeers. Some of these Caribbean players in the big leagues really struggle with life in The Show, and if it takes a couple compatriots to bring out the best in Aramis, then maybe that's why Hendry brought back Perez. That, and it might help bring in Furcal rather than see him go to the Mets. Makes sense actually--we all know from direct observation that Neifi seems to be everyone's "buddy" on the team, I guess Hendry didn't want to lose that. Crappy justification for the kind of money he paid him, but then, Hendry never has been smart with the wallet. I responded once that you post was well put. But, as I sit here and think about a player who took less money to come to Chicago for a potential bench role (Walker) get treated with disrespect... and as I sit here and think about how Nomar seemed to want to stay in Chicago (quite possibly for non personal reasons, like playing a full year healthy for the wonderful fans of Chicago and attempting to prove he can still be the great player he was) and no one showing any interest whatsoever.... and how the whole Sosa thing went down..... and the unprofessional comments like "I like guys who can catch the ball".... I wonder what some of the other guys on the team think about all of this stuff going on. Walker had to have some friends in that locker room. Good post. The more I think about it, the more of a mess this franchise seems to be. Hendry does seem unprofessional in his comments, and just the way they treat the players who want to play here is crap. The more I'm reading this, the more depressed I get. It just seems that the World Series we want so freakin badly is so far away. I personally can't believe that, at least up until the last few games, the greatest season of my life, 2003, was just two full seasons ago.
  2. My dad and grandpa are huge Cub fans, so naturally, it rubbed off on me. Actually my neighbors had season tickets to the Sox when I was younger, so I went to a bunch of Sox games in the early 90's. I actually asked my dad why he took us, and he responded it's baseball, although he wouldn't take us there if he had to do it again. All I remember is Mark Grace was my favorite player and I wanted to get my hair cut the same exact way he did.
  3. I like the Gators a lot, and I like Steve Spurrier, but gotta go with the Gators this weekend. Hopefully Auburn can beat Georgia so UF can go to the SEC championship game. Although I do like USC also, although Im from the midwest so if that is a no-no, someone let me know.
  4. Man, and youre a Blackhawks fan. At least you got Da Bears!
  5. Well Im happy because I know a Yankees fan who said he would be pissed if Rivera did not win it. This Yankee fan also claims to be a Cub fan.
  6. hahaha that would be hilarious.
  7. sorry i just got here. my response to neifi getting six mil: ](*,)
  8. Absolutely nothing that anybody doesn't already know about. That's what he is saying. Just a question for you nd, but how the hell are you a Redwings fan. Not that I particularly like hockey, in fact, I was kinda pissed when the NHL didn't just fold, but im just interested in how youre a Bulls, Redwings, and Panthers fan. Due mostly to my state-hopping as a child. Long story short: Bulls - Saw MJ play and that was the end of that. Red Wings - Never that much into hockey until a few years ago so I adopted my cousins' favorite team by default. Panthers - Lived in South Carolina when they started playing. You aren't the first to ask why my allegiances fly around so wildly in terms of region. :P Yeah, but youre nowhere near the most random. I know some kid from New Mexico who chose the Cubs and the Yankees as his baseball teams (dont even ask, I dont understand it either), Tennessee Volunteers for college football, Cleveland Cavaliers, the New Jersey Devils, and for college basketball Duke ( ). And to make matters worse, he gets mad when we call him a front runner.
  9. Yeah kU has a great defense, but I think we're forgetting the fact that the Texas offense is just a bunch of men playing boys this season. I dont really care how good kU's defense is, Texas offense is just that much better. 41-10 UT. Not to mention that Texas defense is super fast and big as well, meaning theyll create plenty of problems for kU's horrendous offense.

  11. I have to say I agree with most of what you posted.
  12. Derwood, hows Penn States quarterback for next season gonna be? I see that Robinson is a senior, does State have anyone good for next season?
  13. Here is another one from the end of the half with the score tied. IMO that is one of the best football games ever played (that I can remember watching) http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a65/adamb0719/halftimePSU.jpgh Best game Ive ever seen was this years USC Notre Dame game, just an unbelievable game from start to finish.
  14. Those were two crappy teams that played that day. I never would have believed that we'd likely finish with a Big Ten record above .500 and Penn State would be talking BCS. Yeah, I go to Mizzou, but Im still pretty pumped up about Northwestern this year. Unbelievable win on Saturday, and what made it even better was it was against the Hawkeyes. It made me very happy.
  15. That's an awesome picture adam.
  16. Looks like Ill be heading up there on a Friday night. The last time I was up in Milwaukee for a Friday game was in early September of 2003. Cubs won the game 4-2, Sammy hit a two run bomb in the first, and Juan Cruz picked up the win. Even Alfonseca had a huge strikeout to get out of a jam. And best of all, there had to be over 20,000 Cub fans. Man those were the good old days.
  17. That would be a hell of a good game. Was the last time those two teams played in the early 90's in the snow game? The Snow Bowl was indeed the last game between ND and Penn State. I was only six but I vaguely remember watching that game and my whole house flipping out when Mirer hit Reggie Brooks (his 4th option on that play) for the winning two-pointer. What a game that was. Well it would be pretty cool to see those two traditional powers match up against each other. Not only because I think it would be a great game, but because it would be good to see two traditional powers back in the BCS spotlight.
  18. Yes, and PSU is #3 overall by the computers, ahead of Bama and Miami One last second touchdown pass away from being undefeated. Thats too bad, cause I actually like Penn State, although Northwestern probably should have beaten them...

  20. I have a feeling we need to win out to make a bowl game, but personally I hope we win just so Brad can go out at Faurot with a W. He's done so much for this organization that to me a last W at home for Brad Smith is more important than a subpar bowl game. However if we win, next week I'll be singing a different tune. I hope youre right. It would be nice to go to a bowl game for Brad in his last year. I still think both Alden and Pinkel should be fired, along with Christiansen (sp?). How you can run an offense without being under center ever is just mind boggling to me.
  21. KU should have beaten them last year. We got jobbed by the officials. We also have the 5th best defense in the country, and they have the potential to keep us in games. That said, the opening line was 35 points. I expect KU to keep it closer than that. Yeah, I think there was bad PI called or one that should've been called. That 4th and 18 conversion by Vince Young was silly, though. He's unbelievable. I think Texas wins in a rout, but I'm a big Mangino fan. Wish he was still at OU. 37-10 Texas is my guess. Hopefully they'll look past us to A&M, and we can make a game of it. Yeah, I highly doubt ku will make a game of it, no matter how good you think your defense is. Texas has trounced every single team theyve played this year, and beat a very, very good team in Ohio State (whose two losses, by the way, are to Penn State and Texas). I will be shocked if Texas doesn't continue doing what it has done to every team its played this year: just absolutely destroy them. And it doesn't matter how good your defense is, with your offense and the Longhorns defense, its gonna be a long day for the hawks.
  22. I'm gonna also add Scott Podsednik to my list. Not only is his contributions to the White Sox success way overblown, but he also has been an annoying piece of crap for the Brewers and the White Sox for the last three years.
  23. This is the dumbest thiing I've read in a while. Our suckitude had nothing to do with a mediocre offense, a pitching staff in shambles, 3/4 of the season without Nomar, and a moron with a toothpick in his mouth. No, it all came down to the fact no player would police the team. That was the "something" that was missing. That cost us 30 games in the standings. Maybe the Cubs can aquire Hugh Douglas? Only if hes willing to challenge Dusty Baker...
  24. 1. Todd Hundley 2. Steve Kline 3. Mark Buehrle Honorable Mention: Ozzie Guillen, Jim Edmonds, Mark Guthrie, and Alex Gonzalez
  25. Does anyone have any idea that we actually have shown any interest in Brian Giles? I am all for him, especially if the Cardinals begin bidding for him, but I was just wondering if Hendry or anyone covering the Cubs has let it known that we are at all interested, or is it just everybodies wish to get him?
