Nobody gets that 15+15 doesn't work. If the Marlins move to SA they'll stay in the East. I mean, how long were the Braves in the West? Ideally, they'll just move up the coast to Norfolk, which I think could support its first pro team well.

Not the time or the place, but Idaho isn't part of the Pacific Northwest, inasmuch as it doesn't have a coastline at all. It's part of the Empty Quarter/Intermountain West, whatever you want to call it.

He started to lose it in game 4 of the NLCS. Then blew game 5. Then blew game 2 of the WS, then blew game 4 of the WS. So? Mariano Rivera wasn't so hot last October. Or October '01. Lidge is still an elite closer, but if the Astros fans demand that the team remove him, well, come on over.

Maybe I was a little rough on Barrett with the whole boneheaded plays thing. I like Michael Barrett. I just think we could use better fielding at that spot. Maybe he can keep improving.

Of course, the tradeoff for getting offense from that position was a bunch of boneheaded moves in the field.

Oh come on, Lidge has been a highly reliable closer until Game 5 of the NLCS. He gave up a home run to Albert Pujols in a (omg!) clutch situation. Yeah he's Farnsworth 2 Electric Boogaloo, of course

If we absolutely had to have 16 teams to a league, do it like this: AL West: Los Angeles, Oakland, Texas, Seattle, Portland AL Central: Chicago, Minnesota, Cleveland, Detroit, Kansas City, Toronto AL East: New York, Boston, Baltimore, Tampa Bay, Norfolk or Charlotte NL: Leave it Three division winners, Wild Card stays, Blue Jays can dream of upward mobility.

With the Cardinals and Astros as the other possibilities, I had to root for the Braves to win the pennant, but when I found out that what ended up doing them in was just Kyle bein' Kyle, I just had to laugh.

I'd have to pull for the Cards over the White Sox. We can't let them end the drought first. It has to be the Cubs. The White Sox are not a Chicago team to me. The grey jerseys say Chicago, but I'm not reading it. I've never had any trouble with Cardinals fans. It's more of a good-spirited jab-in-the-arm kinda deal. White Sox fans are bitter, mean-spirited, and care more about being better than the Cubs than anything else. (And to get all three big rivalries accounted for, Astros fans are just obnoxious.) So yeah. If it comes down to that, let the Cardinals win it, preferably in 4 or 5, so they can say goodbye to their strangely beloved cookie-cutter Busch Stadium in style. Then the Cubs can beat them in 2006. But I don't want a World Series victory parade in our city for any team but the Cubs.
