  1. So why are the worst pitchers throwing in this game?
  2. Why did the Cubs trade for Trachsel? Why did they then compound the mistake by starting him in today's ultra important game? Why, why, why?
  3. Ha ha, same here. I rarely have secondary teams, but the Dodgers are the one -- baseball is the only sport my dad and I have different rooting interests (though he has become a secondary Cub fan on my behalf).
  4. Guys, Trachsel's veteran grit will win this game for the Cubs. Don't worry. *It'll also help if they get Kendall in there for that damned nascent power-hitting Soto.
  5. Missed it, what did it say? Oh, and lol. cubs 1908 LOL Go Marlins Thanks. That's neither clever nor funny; surely she could've done better. Er, maybe not...
  6. Also, if Trachsel is going to suck, can't he at least expedite his suckiness?
  7. The first time he picked up a baseball and threw a pitch. Touche.
  8. Wait, Trachsel's not good anymore? When did that happen?
  9. I'm not sure momentum exists for baseball. I'm dubious that it does. However, it is certainly not a logical fallacy to think it exists in basketball and football but not in baseball. Baseball is not like other team sports. Momentum exists in basketball, football, etc. I doubt it really does in baseball.
  10. Because your conference is a proxy for your team.
  11. 1. Wood (always my favorite, plus it's hard not to root for him) 2. Lee (besides being a very good player, the ultimate, classy professional) 3. Prior (his career may turn out to be Paradise Lost, but still) 4. Ramirez (excellent player, and I appreciate the way he worked to make himself a better defender and his increased hustle -- make fun if you want) 5. Pie (perhaps hasn't proven much yet, but his exuberance is endearing) Honorable mention: Marmol, Murton, Soriano, Zambrano
  12. Midfielder. Winger typically. I played a lot of defense, too.
  13. Congrats to Illinois. They played a strong game and were clearly the better team. They didn't bring quite as many fans as I expected though, though they were pretty boisterous. Fun game, despite the result. Playing against a more talented team, Indiana couldn't afford many turnovers -- but, wow, did they shoot themselves in the foot with key turnovers. The Illini dominated the trenches, which is a recurring problem for IU over the years. Of IU's two best players, one had a great game (Tracy Porter) while another struggled, despite catching a TD pass (James Hardy). IU still has a strong shot at a bowl, but the ceiling is likely 7-5 now. Oh, finally, I said 34-21 Illini so I was close. Wish I would've been wrong.
  14. Ball State isn't a gimme this year. They weren't a gimme last year either when IU had to rally from 17 points down to win 24-23. I'm just saying if IU is good enough to start 4-0 then I feel like they will be able to take those 3 games at the very least. But I'm trying to not look ahead too much. It's just been a long time since I really felt this good about Indiana football again. While Ball State isn't a gimme, it's still a game IU should win. A 4-0 start would sure put them in prime position for a bowl, and, as I've said, an 8-4 or so record even. Going to be a tough game this weekend, can't wait for it and the tailgate. Go Hoosiers!
  15. I probably shouldn't allow myself to think this way, but I think the Hawks could contend for a playoff spot (obviously like #8). I like their young talent; though I'm far from a hockey expert.
  16. I'm not sure it makes a difference. Dunn was sliding, Theriot would have scored anyway, there would have been a runner at first anyway. Exactly. The call benefited no one; other than Murton's batting average.
  17. That sucks. I like Griffey, Jr., and he's been healthy this season. Not that it matters now, but still.
  18. Great hustle by Theriot. He's overrated by many Cubs fans as that thread says, but it's not hard to see why people like him. Big hit.
  19. Soto's good. Ugh, score and win! That is all.
