  1. I'm pretty sure I'd be pretty pissed if I was Bama this year and saw Georgia Tech win it all because they are in a [expletive] conference. What does Georgia Tech being in the ACC have to do with winning a hypothetical 8 team playoff? I'm sure Alabama would be pissed if any team other than itself won...just like the other 6 teams that didn't win it all in an 8 team playoff.
  2. So Wall = Rondo with a jumper?
  3. I hate to be a downer, but everyone is banking on tapping these free agents. There will be choices for these guys, and frankly right now the Bulls are surely not high on the list. I hope we land a superstar FA but I'm not at all certain it will happen. I thought we'd be a shoe in to look like a more attractive destination, personnel wise, than the Nets or Knicks. Now I'm not so sure.
  4. Turner? Turner's really good but he's more of a creator and all around guy. We need a sniper out there desperately.
  5. The Bulls are making me wish I liked hockey.
  6. The Bulls were 3rd to last in the NBA in point differential coming into tonight's game. This really is one of the worst teams in the NBA.
  7. What? You don't think the guy who said publicly that he'd trade his 6 NBA titles (headline by the greatest and most marketable athlete of all time) for 1 World Series for his 2nd fiddle baseball team is serious about building a winner?
  8. Sign Joe Johnson, draft Patrick Patterson OR Sign Chris Bosh, draft Johnson/Ebanks/Henry
  9. Yeah, but they make up for it with lousy effort. This team is the biggest [expletive] joke in the league.
  10. The biggest problem is playing a half court game without any floor spacers or absolutely no post presence to speak of. When the Bulls were good after the Salmons/Miller trade last they played an up tempo style and were one of the better offenses in the league. I also hate his handling of Rose. He's the only player on the team that can thrive with the ball in his hands in a full court style of play. He's also the only player on the team that can break down a defense off the dribble. So instead of working to those strengths the Bulls slowed way up from last year (to focus on rebounding and defense probably without Gordon) and call tons of pick and rolls with big men who are not good pick and roll players instead of letting Rose create in isolation. It looked like in the beginning that the defense and rebounding were a lot better but that hasn't been the case lately. So now they're a slow tempo, average rebounding team, that doesn't want to guard anyone any more.
  11. Well coaching is a problem, even a big one. If we had the talent to be contenders Vinny wouldn't be the guy to guide us to a championship. I'm just saying Phil Jackson wouldn't get us there either. 80% of NBA head coaches are just retreads who kind of muddle through an assortment of decent, .500, or outright crappy seasons. Guys like Phil and Popovich matter a lot but most head coaches are reasonable facsimilies of each other.
  12. There's some nice individiual players and they don't even fit together particularly well. There's little 3 point shooting and no post presence to speak of. Salmons and Miller look like they've fallen off a cliff since last year. Gibson is merely a backup PF in this league and he's getting tons of minutes (when he's not in foul trouble) because of the Thomas's injury. Lindsey freakin' Hunter is getting run and the guy who normally plays his minutes can't shoot either. I think a good coach could wring more production out of the talent that is there (ala Skiles) by stressing consistent defense and an up tempo style of ball. But these guys that have been lousy shooters their entire careers aren't going to suddenly become good though. Noah isn't gonig to turn into Karl Malone in the pivot either.
  13. I'm skeptical of how much a good coach could do with this team. Maybe consistently drilling into Derrick's head to take the team by the horns is the biggest thing a coach could do. Other than that, the talent just ain't there. It's pretty obvious your team has major talent issues when losing Thomas and Hinrich to injuries exposes glaring weaknesses.
  14. I'd be interested in Avery Johnson. Scott not so much. For a guy who played on the Showtime Lakers and coached Kidd and CP3 he sure has his teams play at a slow tempo. This team needs to start running.
  15. I don't think Vinny is on the hot seat. Have there been rumblings regarding that? We get 54 points combined from Deng/Rose on good percentages and we lose to the Nets at home. Nice.
  16. Haha, we're gonna lose to the Nets at home.
  17. "This is not trolling, this is keeping it real." should be an after school PSA.
  18. I think that's an extremely remote possibility. If Florida had kept it close against Alabama and Texas squeaked by in the title game I'd give it more of a chance.
  19. That's what Jeremy Shockey would look like as a newborn Benjamin Button.
  20. BC +9 vs. USC is free money
  21. Johnson got more carries last year than Bradford did this year and that's when Sanchez was in the fold. You'd think Bates would want to protect his freshman QB with a steady dose of his big power back but no. McKnight's had a fine year so I'm not really miffed about that. Anway, I don't want this to get all USC centric but I really only see Bates here if Shanahan is too.
  22. . Quite frankly, I've never heard of Jeremy Bates, so would somebody fill me in on Bates? Every USC fan I know wants Bates fired as USC's OC if that's worth anything (I don't know how much of USC's offensive woes can be blamed on him). There are definitely better options out there. My biggest problem with Bates is that he criminally under uses Allen Bradford. My 2nd biggest problem with him is that he treated the season like an NFL showcase calling all kinds of complicated multi level reads at Barkley. Maybe it'll pay off in the future but it killed me when Barkley would get into a huddle, drain the play clock down, and have to make some difficult NFL style throw that he wasn't ready for. He flat out couldn't read the defenses quickly enough for that. At some point it never occurred to him to simplify things and mix the tempo of the offense up (i.e. going no huddle). He did seem to succeed in Denver with a vertical passing game and getting Cutler on the move so maybe he's just more suited to the NFL.
  23. I had my issues with Kiffin and Sarkisian but they are OCing gods compared to Jeremy Bates. He sucks.
  24. So highly regarded but not considered one of the best prospects ever. I haven't seen a more dominant defensive player at the college level. He's unreal.
  25. Was Suh highly regarded coming out of high school?
