  1. I'm skeptical of how much a good coach could do with this team. Maybe consistently drilling into Derrick's head to take the team by the horns is the biggest thing a coach could do. Other than that, the talent just ain't there. It's pretty obvious your team has major talent issues when losing Thomas and Hinrich to injuries exposes glaring weaknesses.
  2. I'd be interested in Avery Johnson. Scott not so much. For a guy who played on the Showtime Lakers and coached Kidd and CP3 he sure has his teams play at a slow tempo. This team needs to start running.
  3. I don't think Vinny is on the hot seat. Have there been rumblings regarding that? We get 54 points combined from Deng/Rose on good percentages and we lose to the Nets at home. Nice.
  4. Haha, we're gonna lose to the Nets at home.
  5. "This is not trolling, this is keeping it real." should be an after school PSA.
  6. I think that's an extremely remote possibility. If Florida had kept it close against Alabama and Texas squeaked by in the title game I'd give it more of a chance.
  7. That's what Jeremy Shockey would look like as a newborn Benjamin Button.
  8. BC +9 vs. USC is free money
  9. Johnson got more carries last year than Bradford did this year and that's when Sanchez was in the fold. You'd think Bates would want to protect his freshman QB with a steady dose of his big power back but no. McKnight's had a fine year so I'm not really miffed about that. Anway, I don't want this to get all USC centric but I really only see Bates here if Shanahan is too.
  10. . Quite frankly, I've never heard of Jeremy Bates, so would somebody fill me in on Bates? Every USC fan I know wants Bates fired as USC's OC if that's worth anything (I don't know how much of USC's offensive woes can be blamed on him). There are definitely better options out there. My biggest problem with Bates is that he criminally under uses Allen Bradford. My 2nd biggest problem with him is that he treated the season like an NFL showcase calling all kinds of complicated multi level reads at Barkley. Maybe it'll pay off in the future but it killed me when Barkley would get into a huddle, drain the play clock down, and have to make some difficult NFL style throw that he wasn't ready for. He flat out couldn't read the defenses quickly enough for that. At some point it never occurred to him to simplify things and mix the tempo of the offense up (i.e. going no huddle). He did seem to succeed in Denver with a vertical passing game and getting Cutler on the move so maybe he's just more suited to the NFL.
  11. I had my issues with Kiffin and Sarkisian but they are OCing gods compared to Jeremy Bates. He sucks.
  12. So highly regarded but not considered one of the best prospects ever. I haven't seen a more dominant defensive player at the college level. He's unreal.
  13. Was Suh highly regarded coming out of high school?
  14. Wasn't Sutcliffe there in San Diego for awhile? I don't remember him actually having a full time gig here, but he has been a pretty regular fill in guy over the years. I'm sure everyone remembers that time Sutcliffe was wasted during a telecast. That was during a Padres game. The Padres also get Tony Gwynn filling in a lot. And now that he's proven to be a complete failure as a coach, I expect to see him filling in even more often. I could be wrong though. I don't remember who was here before Vasgersian, so there might have been a year where Sutcliffe was a regular. Neely was a minor league guy for years until he replaced Vasgersian. Vasgersian replaced Mel Proctor (I think). Grant and Sutcliffe were color guys in some fashion for years in the late 90s/earlys 00s although I don't remember if it was a 3 man booth or what.
  15. Did he get defensive talent? Manti Te'o and uh... Well maybe not great defensive talent but without looking through the rankings I'm pretty sure their defensive performance wasn't commensurate with the talent they did get.
  16. Although I will say, in a totally subjective way, that ND's players don't "pop" on the TV screen athletically like you see from Bama, Texas, Florida, SC, etc. Maybe it's the stupidly tall grass or something. Weis got highly ranked classes but I wonder if he had to settle for lesser athletes and more cerebral types or whatever. Although they didn't look very cerebral a lot of the time too. I'm just going to guess that since Weis couldn't teach fundamentals very well that the players just play slower than good teams.
  17. Even if the ND brand doesn't resonate like it used to, the potential to get talent isn't even close to one of the biggest problems with the program. Weis got talent. It just didn't develop.

  19. Wow, Weis is pathetic.
  20. Maybe if UVA were better this year TCU would've had a shot at the title game since the Frogs beat em on the road. The lesson, as always, is that Al Groh sucks.
  21. Can we rewrite the computer algorithms to account for Bradford being out of the RRS?
  22. A Florida loss, Nebraska win, and then a TCU win would've made this entire season worth it. I have never been more distraught about the outcome of a game in which I didn't have a direct rooting interest.
  23. The Nebraska loss bothers me more than any of the Bears losses this year.
  24. At least Riley Cooper lost today.
  25. I'm stupidly holding out hope that the voters will see that Texas' schedule is a complete joke and put TCU or Cincy in. I know it has a 0.000001% chance of happening.
