  1. Muschamp would be a home run considering the circumstances.
  2. Why isn't Leach a realistic target?
  3. http://i47.tinypic.com/148ksw1.gif
  4. Tennessee could turn this screw one more time by hiring Sarkisian and Holt away from UDub.
  5. http://www.conquestchronicles.com/2010/1/12/1248524/breaking-norm-chow-coming-back-to Chow is back too, allegedly. That's a fuckin' coup right there.
  6. Wow, I'm stunned.
  7. Mooch hasn't coached in 5 years. That's a long time to be out of the game.
  8. He's a very physical safety but he's not constantly around the ball like Berry. Some of that is instincts and in that regard he is nowhere near a Polamalu or Berry type. The guy is lined up 20+ yards down the field on every play. You'd think he would've been moved around a lot given his athleticism and used in a lot of different packages but no he was definitely a last line of defense kind of guy almost his entire career. When Kevin Ellison was here he was the one that Carroll would move around. I can't complain too much because it worked, for the most part, but Mays was never the guy that was going to accumulate a lot of stats in college, just wasn't his job.
  9. I saw a lot of tape this year showing him more timid and really not tackling well at all. Did you see this and if so, do you know why? Sure, it happened. The defense was down this year. The linebackers were consistently destroyed at the point of attack and Mays had to be the last line of defense. Obviously things were easier when he had Cushing, Maualuga, and Matthews in front of him taking on blockers and ball carriers. When you lose all 3 things go in the crapper. The linebacking play was really, really poor this year and it hurt the whole team. Even so, it's not like teams were bombing SC up and down the field. They were churning out long, sustained drives and eating clock and that's worse a lot of the time.
  10. I'm not really upset about losing out on Aldridge as I am about Thomas being such a knucklehead. There's a devastatingly effective player somewhere in there. Aldridge is just another guy, IMO. Now Brandon Roy would've been nice.
  11. I'm just saying there was some slight misfortune on missing out on the really good draft classes like 2003. Lots of getting the 4th pick in a 3 player draft, that sorta thing. Obviously there were some huge missteps as well. The 2000 draft was legitimately atrocious (maybe the worst of all time), 2001 was pretty bad, 2002 was fairly brutal, 2003 they had the 7th pick in probably the greatest top 6 ever (outside of Darko of course), 2004 they actually did well, no pick in 05, 2006 is looking like a bust but is otherwise a crappy draft. 07-09 look promising.
  12. And some bad luck. The Bulls got high picks in some pretty crappy drafts. Plus the whole Jay Williams thing.
  13. The whole Mays can't really play safety is completely overblown. He takes bad angles and goes for the killshot rather than the sure tackle too much but he rarely, if ever, gets beat deep and that was his primary responsibility in Carroll's system. I thought he should've been in the box more but USC simply did not get beat deep when Mays was on the field. In his 4 years, USC finished 22, 6, 1, and 16 in pass efficiency defense. I can remember maybe one long bomb completed in all those games. The problem with the defense this year was that it got blown up by the running game too often.
  14. Wow, how bad is Detroit?
  15. Is Orgeron going to be DC when Monte hangs it up?
  16. USC is only running out of high profile targets only if they work off the ex-USC or guys with Carroll connections list. But it sounds like it'll be Del Rio. Meh. I think he'll be able to bring in some good staff (Coach O plz) but I would prefer someone like Petersen.
  17. We want the ball and we're gonna win!
  18. If we're really lucky Cutler will some day be 75% as good as Rodgers is right now.
  19. Nice toss Mike.
  20. Plus Chow hasn't coordinated a good offense in 5 years.
  21. Martz and Bates do not run very similar systems at all. All the Chow-USC-Tennessee-Denver connections are pretty incestuous. Carroll is definitely a Monte Kiffin disciple. You would not see much difference, schematically, if you brought in Sarkisian, Chow, Kiffin, or Bates. And I think Bates would want to be OC wherever he goes, IMO.
  22. This position has already been filled.
  23. I don't think it would be a stunner or anything if this Jets team beat the Chargers or Colts. Their line is so damn good.
  24. Revis needs to be named defensive player of the year in a landslide.
