  1. Total greed kicking in now. If we could add one more HS pitcher with upside, I'd be ecstatic. But, if not, we've hit a home run, in my mind already. When they said they were confident they could add arms and be excited, they weren't kidding.
  2. My guess is we're looking at Johnson, Blackburn, Underwood, McNeil, and Conway as starters and Prieto and Lang as relievers?
  3. So, on BA's top 500 list.... Almora-7 Johnson-32 Blackburn-57 Underwood-101 McNeil-185 Conway-208 Prieto-492 Lang-186
  4. Guys left that would be fun for us to take: Stephen Johnson- bigtime power reliever, Derick Velasquez- very projectable JUCO guy that already knows how to pitch, Kyle Hansen- solid pitcher that I have no clue as to why he's still there, Mitchell Traver- just had shoulder surgery, will miss 3 months but is is big and has velo, Josh Elander- solid backstop, surprised he's still there, Buck Farmer- control issues, great name, power guy, Alex Young- best lefty out there, wish UK was here to attest to his signability, Clate Schmidt- power pitcher who's signability must also be in question, Cody Poteet, smallish 4 pitch guy, very crafty, signability issues is my only guess as to why he's out there too. Obviously, Virant has to be way outpriced or he would have been gone long ago. Same with Buehler and Avis.
  5. Josh Conway out of Coastal Carolina. Just had TJS. Maybe he comes cheap.
  6. Astros taking Rio Ruiz is interesting. Maybe Correa allowed for a BIG underslot to go 1st and it allows them to sign McCullers and Ruiz too? If so, that's an awesome deal for them.
  7. Damn, there went Pike. Alex Young is the last lefty I've got on my list. No clue how signable he even is this late.
  8. Love their system, but I'd want more than that. Give me Hutchison, Gose, and one of Syndergaard/Sanchez/Nicolino/Norris. Plus, a guy like Carlos perez or Moises Sierra. The more I think about trading Garza, the more we better get for him, because it pushes us further away from competing.
  9. Jake Barret just went off the board. Baker or Magnifico would be excellent 4th round guys.
  10. No idea, because other teams will have their guys signed as well. But, season over, after trading Demp and signing Soler(hopefully) I think we're top 10. Maybe 7-8 if we trade Garza.
  11. McNeil's 185 on BA's top 500. That's better than I would have figured.
  12. Wow. Alford to the Blue Jays? My guess is they want to take that pick next year. Onelkis Garcia and his 7 mill demands to the Dodgers.....Lovegrove off the board too. Not much left off my list of wants at this point.
  13. Damn, Twomey went to the A's. Wish we had nabbed him, if he was actually signable in the 3rd.
  14. I think Szczur isn't slugging .400 while getting his second taste of A+ as an old 22-year-old. Maybe I owe Keith Law an apology? It looks like he's really working on plate discipline though. I think the slugging comes after that with him.
  15. I'd be OK with Baker. If those aren't options, I think I'd go with Tyler Pike or Kieran Lovegrove.
  16. Not worth it. Given that probably 1 or 2 of these guys will ever be productive in the majors, it's better to maximize your chances as opposed to putting everything into a guy you think is a better bet. You're not literally punting though. In fact, you're probably taking low end guys with no real upside, but fairly likely to at leasrt make the majors. Like a Taylor Dugas or Jason Coats.
  17. Any idea of Virant's commitment level? Would a mill sway him/ I think we could still find a way to give someone that.
  18. Man, there are still guys out there that would be tempting as hell to punt the rest of the top 10 rounds for.
  19. With the Pirates taking Mathisen, they're either punting the entire draft(doubtful) or punting their draft next year. No way they can afford Appel and Mathisen within a budget.
  20. He's a reliever though most likely. No command at all supposedly. Throws hard as hell though. If I'm popping a reliever anytime soon, I think I'd go the college route with Barrett or Magnifico.
  21. I still think Szczur can be elite. I'm not putting Lake in the same category as him just yet.
  22. If we can get away with taking another HSer, I'd love it. My guess is we're done though. I'd like to see us address LHP soon.
  23. Some teams considered him a late 1st type. On potential, it'd even be higher than that, but he IS inconsistent. Definitely the lowest floor guy we've taken so far, but easily 2nd highest upside too.
