    Ned did trade McDonald and Lambo for Dotel. That one pissed me off as I remember thinking the Pirates got more for him than we did for Lilly and Theriot.

    The extension for Ethier had been rumored for a while, even the amount he was wanting. I guess I'm shocked it happened, not because of Ned, but because Kasten evidently signed off on it. Not a pennies worth of a discount whatsoever. Please, please, please get Demp traded to them ASAP, Theo.

    I just took a good look at Martin's EXST numbers and I may be thinking wrong about him, for all I know. Thought he was very raw, but his stats don't show it. Dunston did produce slightly better anyway, but I've been under the impression Dunston was slightly better in just about every facet, other than fielding, than Martin is.

    Time to pretend to be greedy, I guess. But there are still 2 more Cuban pitchers now eligible to be signed that would both probably slot somewhere inside our top 30. Go get them too now fellas.

    I truly believe if we had not had the new rules in place, we would have spent 30 mill on the draft this year. Every single round would have been BPA, hard to sign guys.

    If I had to choose ONE of Dunston or Martin, I'm choosing Dunston. Martin still deserved to be in Boise as well though. Really glad to see Arias there, wasn't sure they'd move him quicker not.

    Would love to see it happen. Abty, by the way, is a Royals fan, likes the Cubs secondarily, and works for a Royals website, to my knowledge. He does have scouting contacts, so it's possibly he'd run into this type of info.

    McNutt was rocked. 3.1ip 9h 7r 6er 0w 2k. Concepcion has already given up 4 in 1.2 as well. Torreyes is 2-2 right now.

    I think it's any team outside the bottom 10 instead of 15 now. The thing I'm not sure about is how many guys a team is allowed to sign now, or if there even is a limit.

    Not quite that easy. Remember, there will be two separate 6 pick lotteries involving supplemental picks involving small market teams. Plus, a team still has to be willing to LOSE their own 1st rounder, in order to sign Demp. At his age, I have more than a few doubts that a team is willing to do that.

    It really makes sense to deal Dempster as early as possible. Right now, his closest competition for best starter on the market is Wandy. If a team is willing to give us a solid return now, I hope we take it quick, before Greinke, Hamels, McCarthy or someone else is put out there.
