  1. Jensen's been excellent again. My guess at midseason, we see Struck to AAA, Rhee moved to the pen, Kirk and Loosen to AA, and Burke and Jensen to Daytona.
  2. Gould becomes our top arm, if it were to be him. Hell, Withrow still makes our top 12-15 prospects most likely. Tolleson has closer ability. I think I'm to the point where I hope the Dodgers come out on top for Dempster. They fit what we need very well.
  3. My hope is he can reduce his K rate between now and his callup to between 22-25% from this point forward. If he can somehow accomplish that, I can see him being a solid MLB starter, with a 27-30% K rate, because of his speed, defense, power, and walk rate. Not a top end guy, but a possible 3-4 WAR guy anyway in his prime.
  4. The longer we wait, the worse the return. Of course, it means the other teams need to be willing to pull the trigger now as well. Before other guys possibly hit the market. Plus, I don't want to see us have both Dempster AND Garza available at the same time anyway, because it could make it even harder to get a team to commit on Dempster. I hope he's gone before he makes another start and then, it gives us a little more time to evaluate whatever it is we're to do with Garza. But, it'd be really nice to see us have the top two available guys on the market in a season where there's very few sellers. at this point, maybe even the return on Dempster has an affect on what we wind up doing with Garza, as it is. Adding Eovaldi, for instance, could make it more likely we keep him. Adding any of their other guys, probably makes it more likely Garza's dealt.
  5. I would prefer Eovaldi to Lee myself. It seems like there's too many scouting reports calling Lee a future innings eater and none saying he has TOR potential. Perfect scenario for us with the Dodgets is Eovaldi and Tolleson. Likely scenario is Gould, Withrow, and Tolleson, in my opinion. And if you look at that trade value chart or whatever it is at ObstructedView, even that's way too much value to be getting back for the rest of Dempster's season, which is certainly going to regress quite a bit, in all likelihood.
  6. It'd be really cool if Rock turns into a bigtime player.
  7. Oh. My. God. We lost a baseball game during the year of suck. Our lives will never be the same again.
  8. Yeah, we actually signed him as a catcher. Unsure whether he played C in the DSL though. I think he did, at first, but I'm not sure.
  9. I hope between now and next year's draft, there are at least 3 Dylan Bundy's emerge. Granted, if it happens, we'll wind up drafting 4th. But I really want to see us wind up with a dominant starter, unless we address it before the deadline.
  10. I wonder if there's a noticeable difference in Boston's success ratio in developing hitting versus pitching? Top 100 guys is probably too SSS to figure that out too. All I know is reading those articles about what's going on up in Boise makes me soooo much more confident that these guys actually have a plan, instead of whatever it was Hendry's mom and pop group were doing(or not doing).
  11. Check Boston out in Theo's era(and no I haven't looked myself) but they're better to compare than our old regimes.
  12. Good, kind of figured that. But with Prieto getting 57,000 under slot, we're sitting at 477,200 under budget. not counting our overage ability of close to 400,000 more. From everything McNeil has said, he's wanting to sign, so hopefully there's no snag there. Maybe even a tad more underslot, if we're lucky. Not sure why Lang hasn't signed yet, he seemed pretty gung-ho about it at the draft. Again, doubt there's any actual concern there. If we can get Almora and Underwood for even the extra money we've saved, we'd still have our overage to play with and get another guy or two into the fold.
  13. Orozco evidently has signed, not a surprise for a 23 year old.
  14. Thanks Quakers. how did you think Contreras looked behind the plate?
  15. Gibbs is a defensive catcher, thought to have 10ish homer pop, if things turned out right. I'd say there's a pretty decent chance he winds up as a major league backup at some point. The current power is probably an aberration, unless we hear he's made major changes.
  16. Whatever we can get for Dempster or Garza, it isn't coming from the Blue Jays. They've now lost Morrow, Drabek and Hutchison the past time through their rotation.
  17. I really, really, really want him dealt before his next start.
  18. I think Wiseman is a no-go. I think if we have any cash left over, it's going to go towards Hickman, Drossner, Fisher, or Bonnell. Hopefully more than one of them actually.
  19. This isn't directed just at Vitters, but I think it's going to take us a little getting used to seeing, in that our FO does take their time in moving kids up. It's pretty apparent already. Baez stuck in EXST much longer than anyone would have thought. Brett and Vitters have both had guys get injured in front of them, yet neither was moved. Guys like Cabrera and Struck were moved DOWN a level, after being in AAA last year. Rizzo is completing his full season in AAA. I think the process for all of our kids is going to be a little longer, hopefully with much more discipline and instruction, than it ever was before. I honestly think we'll see Almora(assuming he signs) stick in Arizona and maybe get a taste of Boise this year. May not get to start next year in Peoria either, just like with Baez. Won't surprise me to see Soler stick in Boise all summer either.
  20. Marlin just said Ben Wells is going to have TJS.
  21. The reason I want the top pick, or a very high one, at the very least, is so we have extra money to throw at the draft. Instead of getting ONE bigtime player, you could get 3, if you do what Houston did this year. Adding a top 5 guy and 2 more 1st round talents to your system increases your chances dramatically of getting something right in a business where your job is to be less wrong than the next guy.
  22. No clue. My guess is every organization is going to handle this differently and I doubt there's a right or wrong answer to it. I want to see our guys pitching, but my guess is we severely limit their innings. Johnson, in particular, since he's had a few injury issues previously.
  23. Blackburn makes it seem like he's signed, since he said he's going to Arizona. He also wasn't expecting to get drafted until the 2nd round, plus he wasn't really considered a "tough sign" according to BA. I'll be surprised if he requires any overslot and kind of expect him to come in a tad under slot value myself.
  24. In his chat today, Law said, assuming he signs, Almora, Soler, and Baez will probably all be in his top 50 for next year.
  25. Acosta hit a homer, but K'd 3 times. Badler said breaking stuff giving him problems, but he has power.
