    Barnes is very likely headed to Cleveland at 4 though.

    The rumor on the Bulls board at RealGM has it that we've offered Deng and 29 to the Warriors for Biedrins, Wright, and 7. I think the rumor comes from a paper in Great Britain. At any rate, that's a stupid deal. Biedrins is flat out awful, has 2 years and over 20 mill left on his deal. Wright is average and is making close to 4 mill in the last year of his contract. Couple that with 7 being a spot where there doesn't appear to be a clear cut guy we're looking at, and this just doesn't make sense. No cap relief? Yuck.

    Raisin mentioned a .900 OPS. Makes sense to me. Badler loves him and said it's quite possible he could make it, by the way.

    Awesome. Kind of a lackadaisical day in the minors for us(other than Brett being solid) just picked up bigtime.

    Yeah, my main point is it's a win-win. Either you get the clear cut best player or you can play it the way Houston did and wind up with extra top end talents. Personally, I hope some pitcher comes out and becomes another Dylan Bundy.

    Normally, I agree with that. But this past draft didn't turn out that way and from the extremely early looks of things, next year's won't either.

    The player you get at one may not be different than the guy you get at five, but the extra money from the higher pick could go towards other first round talents that fell due to bonus demands. I definitely want the first pick.

    Couple of blurbs on PSD, one that says Amlung is undecided. The other one is much bigger, coming from a guy at the 15 and under wood bat championships. Said college coaches are everyone and UGA coaches think they have a better than 50% chance of getting Underwood, saying he's reluctant to start his pro career. If this IS the case, you've got to think it's a change of heart, or else we wouldn't have taken him when we did. Hopefully, this is nothing, but figured it was worth posting at least.

    I doubt the Cards would dare trade Taveras to us. I like Kolten Wong and Tyrell Jenkins quite a bit. If I could get Miller and Rosenthal, I'd pull the trigger immediately. My guess is if you take Miller out, it's more in line with what they may be thinking though.

    Miller's FB has been mostly 90-93 this year, versus 93-96 previously. Still K'ing over a batter an inning, but his control has gotten worse somewhat. His BBA is quite a bit worse compared to last year, .306 against .219. Yet his GB/FB ratio isn't much different. His last 6 starts, he's gone 25.2 IP, given up 36 hits, 27 earned runs, and has walked 13. He may very well turn thins around, but he can't be the main piece in a Garza deal, going through this stuff, no matter how good his stuff has been lreviously.

    I'd love to trade Garza to the Cards. Because in order for that to happen, they'd have to massively overpay.

    Our 1-2 hitters are a combined 8-10 and neither has scored a run. Can't see that very often.

    Austin Pentecost failed his physical, torn labrum and other injuries and will not remain with the Cubs.

    Whatever Boston winds up getting for Youkilis, I figure the return is going to be fairly close to what we can expect for Soriano.

    Our DSL phenom, Jose Paulino, went 5, giving up a solo homer and striking out 5. No other hits given up, nor walks. Let's amp up the questions to Badler, I really want to know SOMETHING about this guy.

    Awesome. Gotta wonder what Virant's pricetag was. Must have been at least 2 mill, because I would think they'd have taken him over Ruiz, if the money was the same. Now, they've got no shot at Hinojosa or Traver either. Would have thought they wound up with 2 of that group for sure, not just Ruiz.

    I don't see teams looking at acquiring two OFers. I do think Reed and his gritty veteranness gets dealt, we won't get much back obviously, but maybe we get a higher upside type that's struggled anyway.

    I think quite a bit still hinges on what we do with Garza. If he's here, I could see a deal or two that's more than a stopgap. If he's not, and I'm thinking we deal him, at this point, then I see us trotting out a very young squad next year to take their lumps and see who doesn't sink.

    I at least see the point where you don't go signing guys to longterm deals until you know you have at least more than Castro in place though. Maybe Garza. Maybe Shark. Nothing else, even Rizzo, is anything close to being definite. If we suck next year, but Castllo, Brett, Rizzo, and Vitters look like they can all be starters, you've got what's currently in your system already and two more drafts of really high picks, plus 2 high dollar IFA periods as well, to really turn the system into a monster. My guess is we start spending in 2014 honestly.

    this is mostly baseless speculation, right? Is it? Theo's kind of said we won't be spending on major free agents until we have enough pieces around them and has said he knew this would take a while to fix the right way. I guess it's me speculating, but I also kind of think the writing's on the wall somewhat.

    Since we're probably tanking next year, I honestly want to see Castillo, Rizzo, Brett, and Vitters all get a full season starting. Let them work through their rough patches and see where they're at by season's end.

    I could see us packaging Russell with Soriano. Maybe even a decent minor leaguer from a position of depth, to get us something we may actually be able to use.

    Ruiz looks like he's getting 1.85 mill. Raisin, I think you're definitely safe with Virant now.

    We didn't see a two level jump from anyone this year, did we? Maybe Candelario counts, going from DSL to NWL? I kind of wonder if this group doesn't curtail that sort of thing and is much more cautious when promoting players.
