  1. I figure we'll have Shark and Wood, with Maholm probably still here. Hopefully, a couple of guys we acquire fill the other two slots. Rusin getting a chance wouldn't kill me, but I don't want to see Coleman, Wells, or Volstad in the rotation ever again.
  2. Honestly, Volstad could probably be salvaged as a reliever.
  3. Williams stays with the Nets.
  4. I threw him out there as an example, but considering how bad our pen is, I'd be very happy with that type of return. Sub 3 ERA, a K per inning, and a 1.2 WHIP. I think he's a better bet to be a back end of the pen guy than Dolis.
  5. Matsuzaka went on the DL today too, wouldn't mind seeing Boston get desperate right about now. As far as Soriano goes, with the lack of bats available I think we could get a surprising return from Tampa or Cleveland. Maybe our old friend, Wade Davis, if we throw Dolis in and eat lots of cash, because of Tampa's pitching depth.
  6. We've had a few rounds about the Simpson pick, but there's no true way of knowing. Unsure whether we were handcuffed financially basically, plus a weak area of yhe draft for us to be picking in. I remember I wanted Allie and that's turned out on the same level as Simpson.
  7. Muskat tweeted 18 of our top 20 picks have signed, so evidently Justin Amlung has signed.
  8. We could be in on that. Raisin, in Castillo's bio, does it mention if he's alrwady 16or nor? I'm asking, because I've read he's not going to the Dodgers and the Rays have spent quite a bit on 2 players. Kind of thinking he may wind up elsewhere.
  9. Carpenter is now out for the year. Hope they give us a damn haul for either of our guys.
  10. Where do those numbers from, UMFan? I would think the Lakers would be the most profitable, by a wide margin, without looking at anything.
  11. On my cell, do can't link, but Fangraphs has a very solid article today on Shark.
  12. Watson an Brewer have to have their options picked up by July 10th or they become FA. Korver has a non guaranteed contract that allows us to go into January before actually guaranteeing him his full season's salary. Pretty valuable piece, to be honest. If traded, the acquiring team can cut him immediately without paying him a cent. He's kind of like half a trade exception, except he can hit 3's.
  13. Guys, if that's the case with Deng, then I doubt I'd do the deal, with Taj involved. I'm undecided as to whether I want Taj here longterm as a starter, or to trade him right now, where I'd expect a very solid return obviously. If I'm choosing between him and Asik, I'm keeping Taj, every day of the week.
  14. I thought you said you didn't prefer to be [expletive]. I don't prefer it, but one year of taking a step back is acceptable, if it improves our chances after that.
  15. Lost draft picks as well. for me, there's a definite cap on how much I trade for him. Noah and Deng, plus our own 1st. I'm not sending Taj, the Charlotte pick, or Mirotic. Because other than if the Lakets offer Bynum, I don't see a package from the other rumored teams, that beat what I'm mentioning. The risk, I look at like this: We stand pat, this is a non championship season coning up. With Dwight, thete's a chance. We lose Dwight, the following season is a non championship year. So, this year or next year, one or the other? But 2014, we'd be in a great spot, without Dwight. Or with him, for that matter, if he's convinced to stick around.
  16. Banedon, whether Howard wants to be here or not has nothing to do with it. If you teade for him, it gives you a year to try and convince him to stay. It also gives you a better chance at a title for this upcoming season, if Rose comes back healthy. If Rose does NOT come back this year and Dwight looks like he'll leave, then trade him at the deadline or over the offseason in a S&T, because it's still very likely that whatever teams he'd be wanting to go to, won't have the capspace to sign him anyway. But, it'd give you tons of flexibility heading towards 2014 as well, by doing this. You could amnesty Boozer and go into that offseason with Rose and a few draft picks, plus Mirotic and maybe Taj.
  17. I'm aware of that, which is why I mentioned we may not know what's going on. Personally, I think we should be in the middle of this Dwight stuff. Because outside of the Lakers offering Bynum, I don't see another team beating Deng and Noah in an offer.
  18. Cool, thanks. I saw Greinke evidently likes the idea of playing in Atlanta. I wonder whether it helps us or hurts us, to beat Milwaukee(philly too, if Hamels were to be dealt) to the punch? Teams get more desperate the closer the deadline gets? Or they'd pay up now, because it'd give them a bit longer with the acquisition?
  19. I see where CV is coming from. I don't see this Bulls team, without an elite 2nd scorer, winning it all. Yes, I'd rather be very good, than average or shitty. But I want to see them win it all and don't see it happening as they're currently constituted. And I don't see the effort coming from the FO, to make it happen. It could be happening and we're not privvy to it. But when you're this close, you want to see effort and signing Kirk Hinrich doesn't do it for me. With Rose's future iffy, as to whether he gets all the way back, and if he does, how long does it take? I was and still am in favor of making major changes, because I see extremely little hope for next year. But with the pieces we have, plus future assets, I can see another run at a championship once we get past this upcoming year. But some changes do need to be made.
  20. Cool. Was hoping for more than just them. Were Hamels or Greinke on the list?
  21. Does anyone here actually have ESPNInsider? If so, could you be so kind as to list what Cubs were on Bowden's list of the 10 most likely players dealt before tge deadline?
  22. New Jersey has zero leverage whatsoever. They can offer up their package of non All Stars that equal Dwight's salary, but unless Orlando is really stupid, they'll take whatever package helps them the most. If the Lakers offer Bynum, I can't see Orlando turning that down. And I hope that happens, because Dwight's screwed: He can't sign as a FA next year with the Nets, because they won't have the money to sign him.
  23. He already confirmed it in a story about ways around the cap (page 1 of this thread, I think). damn, can't believe I glossed over that. There's a 15 year old LHP, Julio Urias, that we have been linked to(Dodgers evidently the favs) that throws low 90's already and has a plus curve too(based on the one scouting report I read). He was the top ranked IFA on baseballinstincts board. He turns 16 soon and having the ability to spend more because of the team getting so much, of a cut is extremely appealing.
