  1. Assuming we get that deal done, I want to see the Dodgers go out and spend some money between now and when Paniagua becomes eligible to be signed, so we have as much cash available to sign him as they do.
  2. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120702&content_id=34319274&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb&tcid=tw_article_34319274 We're close to a 700,000 deal with De la Rosa, according to this article.
  3. I think Underwood will get signed, but I kind of agree with Craig. His struggles this past year should factor in to where he's ranked in our system. Blackburn seems much more polished and a much safer bet to become a help to us in the future. But I do love Underwood's possible upside. On a side note, the PSD guys seem to treat ABTY as if he's Marlin. I don't see it. To my knowledge, he's never actually broken anything and when he comes in with something substantial, there always ends up a caveat at the end, that kind of lets him off the hook. I'm sure he knows a few scouts, but he's not nearly on the same level as Marlin. Not in my eyes.
  4. Since Paniagua is suspended until July 19th and Gohara doesn't turn 16 until July 31st, we may be very slow to spend any money.
  5. I think of Rhee as a bullpen guy going forward, but as others have pointed out, he came on really strong last year in the 2nd half. Beeler's K rate is so low, his stuff has to come into question, at some point.
  6. He's right about the AL East, Luis Castro, no 9, goes to Toronto, and no 17, Jose Almonte, goes to the Red Sox.
  7. It'll be really interesting to see what kind of bonus he gets. Sae it's supposed to be for close to 2 mill, just want to see how teams handle their allocations and if a team shoots their wad on a single player. With their farm's depth, it makes sense for the Jays. Next year, with some teams having more money, I figure we'll see the top guys get more typical bonuses again.
  8. I've kind of had it in my head that we'd get back a guy that immediately slots into the rotation, along with one TOR potential type. My guesses were Hutchison/Syndergaard from Toronto(unsure if Hutchison is healthy before deadline), Eovaldi/Lee from the Dodgers, Delgado/Teheran(too much probably) from the Braves, Odorizzi/Ventura from the Royals, and maybe Barnes/Owens from the Red Sox, even though there's not a guy you slot immediately back into Garza's spot. Porcello and Turner work from Detroit too.
  9. Oh well, 4-5 ain't too shabby Dan.
  10. Phillies sign number 20 prospect, OF Jose Pujols, for 540k. I wasn't expecting any signings to trickle in til noon tomorrow. Oh well, maybe we'll get more soon.
  11. He'll get one more at bat. Candelario with a 2-4 day. I keep wondering when or if we're going to see Johnson or Blackburn in games?
  12. I need video of that before I believe it. I want to see him steal home.
  13. I don't think he's had wrist surgery yet.
  14. Vogelbach with the triple. 4-4 now.
  15. wanna bet? FA options are Maicer Izturis, Placido Polanco, Mark Reynolds, Scott Rolen, and Ty Wiggington.
  16. On a side note, I wonder if Theo knows about this place yet? Did UMFan ever get through to the secretary or whatever? It'd be cool as hell if Theo, Jed, or Jason stopped in for a chat. Because with what they're teying to do with the organization, they'd have to be impressed with how much we follow everything.
  17. I still think quite a bit hinges on what we do with Garza.
  18. Seriously, where does Brett need to get his K rate down to, for people to feel good? 25%, maybe? Or does it need to be lower than that?
  19. He's definitely taking his frustrations on being in Arizona, out on the baseball. Great to see.
  20. Others may disagree, but figuring he misses the rest of the season, I want him back next year. With it being highly doubtful we spend money next year, we can keep him for 80% of his current salary most likely. He'll make like 1.8 mill or so. Have him compete with Vitters and if he loses out, at least he's a power bat off the bench.
  21. Vogelbach with an RBI single in the 1st.
  22. Brett fills out a boxscore line better than anyone. 3 plate appearances, a K, a walk, a double, a steal, a run, and an RBI.
  23. Wow, I didn't even think about the Rangers. Can they be penalized and lose their allotment over the Beras deal? If not, I would think they could go and sign guys, because if Beras was ruled illegal, it'll be voided and he'll be suspended, right?
  24. How likely is that (I know little to nothing about how S&Ts come about)? we could act like we're going to match and see if Houston wants him badly enough to come off something for him. We could also go to Houston and say let us trade him to you and you can change the way you've got the money distributed. I highly doubt it's ideal for Houston to have that 3rd year stupidly high either. I'm not totally positive, but I think these are scenarios for a S&T anyway.
  25. Dodgers pulled out. We've got an AS 1B Ned, come and get him!
