  1. 15 year old Cuban kid throwing 96? Holy horsefeathers lol
  2. Shark has positive value, but not a lot. There's no way we'd trade a chip like Happ for him. If WE traded for Shark? I'd guess it involved a guy like Ademan, with Zagunis, and maybe EJM, since the Giants wanted him bad, at one point. At any rate, while he's got a bit of value, that's what it is. A bit. His contract makes it that way. Teams can just sign Cobb or Lynn for money. Or take a slightly lesser pitcher and save a bunch of cash in the process.
  3. the one and only hope is theo magic...and i mean some under the table tampering horsefeathers like he did with maddon and soler. Well yeah, Theo is cutthroat. They'll have third, fourth, fifth parties, speaking to him, paying him in bitcoins, whatever it horsefeathering takes, to get his extension happening immediately.
  4. That's something that you may have to let play out. Personally, I don't think he's a major league hitter, based on scouts takes. But, if he wants to do it and you have to promise him he'll get to.....You sell up your Drinky Joe stuff to the hilt, let him get some AB's in Spring Training and be done with it, once he realizes he's not a hitter.
  5. I'd have thought our chances are better, if 2016 hadn't happened. But, it did. Eternally thankful too, that it did and if it costs us our best shot at Ohtani, so be it. That said, I'm actually of the mindset that we've got a relatively decent shot, the more I think about it. We've got Theo, which helps. If theres any way to exploit his contract, we'll definitely be on top of it. We've got Joe. His lineup craziness is a huge plus for us, unless we hear Ohtani doesn't care about hitting. And we've got some of the nicest, most talented players in baseball, that can help make a great impression on him. Don't know whether it'd get him or not, but I'm sure the vast majority of teams out there, would trade their perceived chance of getting him, with ours.
  6. https://twitter.com/sung_minkim/status/928873859255738370 Here he comes....
  7. I think they'll trade for the cost controlled starting pitcher. Likely get a guy with a short term deal for the 5th spot. Sign a backup C and a reserve position player that's got the ability to handle 300-400 PA. Again, a short term deal. The pen gets interesting though. I think they'll almost have to hand out a 3 year deal, probably a second deal as well that's at least 2 years. Lots of other options though. I can't wait to see who we're being connected with, to give us a better sense of where things may be headed.
  8. This confuses me, but why did DiCaro delete(again) her account?
  9. None of this makes me confident in our chances. The Yankees were always going to be a favorite for him. This just makes it even a bit more in their favor.
  10. Wow, unreal. He was their top signee this period. RIP. What an awful couple of days.
  11. He can see his way out of town too.
  12. Alzolay is going to be on some top 100's this off season. Law and Longenhagen's for sure. As for who I'd say is the CLOSEST to untouchable? My guess is Albertos. He's too far away to hold true value and he could conceivably jump into the top 50 or so, with half a dozen dominant outings next year. He's the highest upside guy we've got.
  13. Lauri's worst game as a pro, 12 and 2. Only took 3 shots after the first quarter. Portis went for 21 and 13 lol.
  14. Yeah, he is. He's not a guy we should give anything up for, when he can just be signed next year. I kind of like the idea of him as a second unit scorer. On the other hand, I've seen some things where you guys would gobble him up under that injury exception you guys got for Hayward.
  15. Cueto opting in had to hurt them. They're pushing the LT right now. They've pieced together contenders enough that they're not about to rebuild. They've got a pair of elite guys and they'll fill in around them and expect some bounce back years and devil magic to propel them. The biggest thing this kind of trade does for them is open up some payroll. Sharks peripherals were good. Not sure how sabermetrically inclined their FO is(don't think much though), but they may think they can replace a 4.50ish ERA fairly easy. And they can find ways around Melancon too. Heyward is elite defensively and that matters quite a bit in that park. I can see them thinking he'd help them. That said, I do think the values here are still quite a bit off. But, with the Giants trying to compete, I could see us throwing in 8-10 mill a year for the rest of the deal, AFTER this upcoming season. That'd help the Giants out quite a bit payroll-wise and make the deal fairly even from a value standpoint.
  16. horsefeathering horsefeathers. RIP Roy.
  17. I'm legit worried for that kid. The younger brother and Lonzo are the 2 that are the headliners. I can't imagine what goes thru LiAngelo's head or what his idiot Dad says to him.
  18. So, here's an interesting development.... A little background, in case some don't know this guy.....He almost became the first player to come over from Japan BEFORE getting drafted over there. He's lost some off his FB, it was 97-98, in his younger years. But, he's still throwing low 90's, and has a solid repertoire. Has had some shoulder issues in the past. He's not Ohtani, or Fujinami(the next best guy over there), but he's 3rd. And if he's coming over, he's probably in the same range of prospect, as Kenta Maeda was.(my opinion only) Now, that's not insanely special, but its a very legit option to be inserted into our rotation. https://sports.yahoo.com/japanese-pitching-star-yusei-kikuchi-173900611.html?src=rss Edit, for new article. Never mind, he's evidently not going to be posted until after next season.
  19. Guess its at least worth noting that CAA has offices in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, in the US. (And Jacksonville for some reason)
  20. Russell isn't necessarily the most valuable of our group to trade from. No one is. That's what's great. We've got 5 major league, cost controlled, starting caliber players to trade from. Out of the other 29 teams, my honest guess is ALL 5 of the group would be the top option for at least 1 team. Probably be really close between Russell, Baez, Schwarber, and Happ to see who got the most votes. Teams have different needs and eval processes obviously. The cool thing though, is with our selection of players, there WILL be some teams that absolutely love a player or two, from us. I've got no idea WHICH player(s) we move, but I'm pretty damn positive that we'll get something very fun out of it. Because we'll have multiple options to choose from. We're in an excellent spot here, this is going to be very fun. Especially since we can add back the depth we've just dealt from.
  21. The Dodgers can't bring back Darvish after that postseason. Their fans would riot. If they add a major piece for the rotation, it'll be thru trade. The Yankees are going to get under the LT and reset. I don't see them after Darvish, they can bring back CC for a year and then go into the big free agent class with an enormous amount of room under the LT. The Rangers said they're not going to go crazy trying to bring him back. The Nat's could, but they're going to be saving to keep Harper. I doubt they'd let Darvish distract them and hurt their shot at keeping Bryce. I think its going to be us, the Phillies, the Braves, and the Angels that are in on him. Honestly, I think he goes to the Angels.
  22. Nice come from ahead tank W in OT. Lauri struggled in the back end of his first back to back. 14 and 7 though.
  23. Neil Walker works too obviously, if you trade Javy or move him to SS.
