Raw, how many of our picks do you see contributing in 2013? Personally, I think Long is a starter at guard. Bostic or Greene is a starter, position TBD, the other likely just gets special teams for a year, and Wilson gets plenty of snaps as our 4th WR.
Our favorite .100 hitting AAA 3B is bitching on Twitter about how the Rockies screwed him and now Chris Nelson over, saying he loved his time in Colorado, no disrespect to the Cubs. Honestly, I'll be surprised if Stewart gets 50 at bats in the majors this year.
Along with Ford, Harrison, and Russell-Jimmy Coy, QB from Xavier, PJ Lunergan, C from LSU, Tress Way, P and Jonathan Hurst, CB from Oklahoma, Zach Minter, DT from Montana State, Tunde Bakare, LB, from Kansas, and Josh Lenz, WR from Iowa State.
UDFA time: Bears get DT Brent Russell of Ga Southern. Have seen him mocked as high as 4th round. Also get WR Mark Harrison from Rutgers, who Kiper had very high. Have signed others as well, but they're the only 2 I recognize.
Outside of how our first pick was made(no issue with the player, just wanted a trade back, if thats who we wanted) the rest of the draft was extremely solid. Really hard to fault the rest of it. I think I'd give the entire draft a B grade, docking solely for Long at 20, instead of back from that spot.
We actually took a guy with possibly MORE character issues than Rogers. Fast as hell though. Toothpick. Like it a lot though. Hopefully Marshall can be a good influence on him.
Man, I really wanted WR addressed but again, they took a great value. Hard to be upset. They've added 3 guys today that can all contribute. Hell, you can make the case they addes 3 guys today that all could have been off the board yesterday.
Is Weems as a 4th WR really a big problem? Honestly, he hasn't been on the field in his career to know, has he? That can't bode well, can it? Plus, one injury and we're really hurting......If we add a FA, I'm fine too, but that position gets paid and we don't have cap room.
Currently, our 3rd/4th CB's are Hayden and Bowman. Our 3rd WR is Bennett, without having a 4th. I DO think taking a WR in the 6th is necessary, maybe a developmental CB in the 7th. Just figure on drafting 2 CB's early next year, assuming one of Tillman or Jennings leaves.
