  1. My guess is Strop to the pen and Villanueva back to the rotation? Or maybe they have to stretch him out......Rusin is pitching on Garza's start days, so he's likely to get the call when he's dealt.
  2. Candelario has been slumping, but just hit a 2 run shot in the 1st.
  3. We really don't know that anyone has made a trade with the Marlins yet. Not to mention, the Rangers could only have acquired 971350 from them anyway.
  4. The Rangers have given Bud Selig an emphatic [expletive] you today. With a bonus pool of a bit over 1.9 mill, they have already spent 4.450.
  5. I hope we get Moreno. Honestly, I'm happy with Torres. It wouldn't bother me if they signed 4-5 players for the amount Jimenez is going to get from us. But we obviously see something in him to make us go that route.
  6. We got Torres for 1.7. No clue if it attaches other players.
  7. Cubs sign RHP Jefferson Mejia for 850k
  8. And amazingly, Cotillo now says Clevenger not involved in Dodgers deal. He'll get back around to the Marlins at some point, I guess.
  9. Background on this Cotillo guy: A year or two ago, there was some dude named Scott Swaim, who used Twitter as MLBInsider and guessed right on a few things before he was found out to be a fraud. There were a ton of those types that popped up, all with MLB Logos as their avatar. Including this guy, but he only reported what real beat guys were saying. He stuck with it, gained a few legit sources, and breaks some very useless [expletive], in all honesty. Like Vlad playing for a semi pro team, type [expletive]. But he has made legit contacts in Rosenthal, Heyman, and others and he's still in High School. He just began writing for the Dish site, and I think he's writing for MLBTR as well. But he's annoying as [expletive] and retweets anyone who complements him.
  10. This is the High School kid reporting this. Kiley mentioned the IFA stuff and this kid(who actually has broken some very small stuff) tried taking it as his own. He's gaining followers and all that, but I doubt he's right on this. The Dodgers make no sense. Possible? Sure. But this feels like a way to increase his followers to me. Even Clevengers agent thinks he's getting dealt for IFA money.
  11. I'll add in Law and Kiley to that group. Along with Chris Crawford, who is a new ESPN draft guy.
  12. Looks like the return could be either Matt Guerrier or Peter Moylan, according to Dylan Hernandez. Baaically just a guy we're going to DFA shortly.
  13. It was supposed to be a sort of transition to a draft. Each team's total IFA cap is the combination of four pools that would represent the slot pool of each pick they would have had if it were a 4-round draft instead of a free-for-all. Don't forget each team also has a base of 700,000 as well, that evidently can't be dealt. Our 4 slots, by the way, are 2.873,000, 462,300, 312,200, and 209,700. Some teams, like the Marlins, are probably willing to trade their slots, because they won't be using them anyway.
  14. Parks is great. May be sacriligious, but I like him more than KG.
  15. Luis Cruz is a special kind of awful. Shawn Camp type of awful? Yes. Roughly Starlin Castro levels of offer (including defense, evening out the playing time). Oh, and by the way......Thanks Kyle. That comment made me finally go look up Castro, who I had done a great job of convincing myself, was his normal self. Negative one point [expletive] three. On the positive side, at least he's got talent and should bounce back. Luis Cruz though: .127/.175/.169 in 128 plate appearances.
  16. By the way, no signings will be reported overnight. 9AM EST is when signings can begin taking place.
  17. The Marlins 4 pool pods are worth 1.763,100, 438,800, 296,300, and 197,000. We're allowed to acquire 50% of our total budget, which is 4,557,200, for those not knowing the stupid rules.
  18. The system is stupid, to say the least. Most of the top guys already know where they're going to go. It sounds like the Cubs could get 4 large bonus guys. And currently only have the money to sign 2 of them, or one of the top 2, and the other 2. Bud is a moron. It would have been cool to see what Theo could have done with no spending limits on the draft and IFA's.
  19. Kiley McDaniel speculated the Clevenger situation could be a midnight deal for IFA money.
  20. Eww, I hope not. Muskat retweeted someone mentioning the return looks to be someone that was recently on Dodgers roster. Maybe a straight up DFA swap of Marmol for Guerrier? Luis Cruz is a special kind of awful. Not sure who all has been up and down with them this year. A guy like Alex Castellanos would be OK.
  21. Steve Clevenger was taken to a hotel and told to wait there, while on rehab. No clue if it has to do with the Dodgers or not. Could be for IFA money possibly. But its NOT for a callup.
  22. I'm reading it the same way as Splinter. I'd love to pry Sanchez from them and would be fine in this situation, in taking a lower level guy. Because at least one of the other pieces is close to the majors.
  23. Garza to the Red Sox for Allen Webster and Henry Owens. Setting myself up for disappointment, doubt they get quite this much honestly. I'm banking on the Red Sox wanting to sign him longterm and feeling they'll increase their chances by getting him for half a season. Plus, the AL East experience thing and him being the best pitcher on the market helps increase his value a bit. Webster moves directly into the rotation. Villanueva to the Pads for 942k in IFA money(their highest slot), Reymond Fuentes, and Brad Boxberger. Boxberger gets inserted immediately into the big league pen and is expected to fill a longterm role there. Schierholtz and Gregg to the Royals for Danny Duffy, Bryan Brickhouse, and 479500 in IFA money(their 3rd and 4th slots). Duffy gets a few major league starts spread out to limit his innings, post TJS. Feldman to the Dodgers for Matt Magill and Scott Griggs. Magill gets some major league time. Is used by us in a swing role. Soriano(and 18 of the 24 mill remaining) to the Rangers for Neil Ramirez and Nick Williams. Finish season out with this lineup C Castillo Navarro 1B Rizzo 2B Barney SS Castro 3B Valbuena Ransom LF Sweeney(once he returns) Bogusevic CF DeJesus Borbon RF Lake Hairston SP Shark, Wood, E-Jax, Webster, and Duffy/Magill RP Parker, Russell, Camp, Boxberger, Rondon, Rodriguez, and other of Duffy/Magill. Plenty of callups and auditions, to go along with this obviously. Head into next year needing 2 starting OF, a TOR SP, and a couple of vet bullpen arms. With 40 mill or so to spend.
