  1. Bengals select DE Scott Crichton, of Oregon State.
  2. I asked Parks to rank our 4 young SP's in KC based on early season reports and he put them this way: Tseng, Torrez, Blackburn, and Underwood. Anyone know what he had to say about Blackburn this morning in his notes?
  3. Hopefully, it's just to help re-establish his command. Rework the mechanics a bit, as his added velo last year came at the expense somewhat of a loss of the zone.
  4. I know I've read somewhere that the A-ball guys have been sacrificing velocity for control but Blackburn's velocity has been as disappointing as Black's has been a positive. Is he still 88-90? I thought he was back to 90-92 his last start? I'll chalk it up to being cautious in the cooler weather.....Even though Underwood has been 92-94 each outing. Paniagua's down, 91-93, Tseng has fluctuated, I think. Or am I wrong on any of these?
  5. 2k's, 1 groundout and a HR I'll say a 2B, a warning track flyout, and a K. Doubt Kershaw pitches long enough to get KB a 4th at bat.
  6. KB vs Kershaw on Wednesday.
  7. Paul George, strippers, Doc's daughter, playoffs, abortions, no clue what's all real. But that may be what's wrong with him anyway.
  8. What velocity does he normally work at? 92-95, hits upper 90's fairly often. He's hit triple digits in the past.
  9. Black's been holding his velo throughout games, if he continues that all season, he's a top 10 guy in our system.
  10. I guess these are the picks we have currently? I'm seeing Bobcats pick 16. The right to trade 1sts with Cleveland next year, but it's top 14 protected. We get a Kings 1st that's top 12 protected thru 2017, then it turns into a 2nd rounder(unless its 56-60?). Plus we have 2015 and 2016 2nds from Portland. If any of that can turn into a Mirotic type, I'd be thrilled.
  11. I've kind of expected one of our 2 1sts would be a stash guy. I'm in favor of it, if it turns out we get our pick of the entire group, if its as strong as mentioned
  12. And for the record, I like Kyle. I just don't like the doom and gloom this early, when it's premature at best and likely unneeded at all.
  13. There's a bunch of smart guys saying they don't like my fictitious future rotation. I like it, but I'll certainly understand if others don't. But mainly, I truly think its just silly to be THIS down on the minor leaguers, when we're 15-20 games into a season. If my attempt to deflect sucked, I apologize for that. But I'm sick of the sky is falling crap this early on.
  14. It was a pretty ridiculous rotation. Why? A frontline SP thru FA and Wood is a solid start. Keeping Shark would be a plus. Coming up with a 4 and a 5 out of what I mentioned, one of which involves us trading top 100 types FOR a SP doesn't seem that unfathomable to me.
  15. Please. All you've been doing is doombonering everything that's going on. Me showing a potential rotation isn't even about "the process" as much as it is trying to turn your doom and gloom on CJ into something that's not that big of a deal. There's plenty of negativity going on in here and NONE of its coming from me.
  16. That's a 77-win rotation if I ever saw one. That's stupid.
  17. As for CJ, who knows? If he can get to 100 IP this year, maybe he pitches AFL or somewhere, to help him get to 120ish. If he can hit 140 next year, maybe he gets a 10-15 inning audition in the majors in September. He doesn't have to come in and be a 200 inning guy right off the bat, or even ever. No one here better be under the impression all these guys are panning out. Future Rotation Wood Shark or guy from return Big FA signing 1 or 2 of Arrieta, Grimm, Hendricks, Jokisch, Rusin, CJ, PJ, Black, Pineyro, 4th pick in the draft 1 from trading off minor league parts-likely Alcantara, Vogelbach, Candelario, Villanueva, etc If there's not 5, they can continue with the one year, 5 mill type guy too. I'm still very confident our rotation looks excellent heading into 2016. And much better in 2015 than it is now.
  18. Are we even going to want Edwards to be pitching late in the season after throwing 100 innings this season with a career high of ~110? And yes, those who were negative last year have certainly been shown how foolish they were thus far. The negative last year was stupid. Within a month, it turned directly into Javy is God.....Sorry, K percentage, swing rate, none of that [expletive] matters to me concerning a 21 year old in AAA.
  19. Sucks about CJ, but if you go 3-4 weeks without throwing, a late June/early July return seems realistic. If it IS just inflammation, it doesn't even set him back that far. A late season debut in 2015 is always what I had in mind anyway. And yeah, thru 15-20 games, we've had a few disappointments. I'm not the least bit worried about that. Sorry, but most of this doom bonering is [expletive] stupid. Just as it was last year too.
  20. Wouldn't taking a 2nd DT this early, even in the 3rd, be a bit of a waste for 2014? With Paea, Ratliff, Collins, and Donsld(in this scenario), isnt it a waste of a roster spot in 2014? A year we should be trying to find guys to come in and compete for jobs. We only keep 4 DT's active and I figure we've got other positions we need to address still, prior to injury concerns. I'm more apt to take one later and even spend another very early pick next year on the spot.
  21. I'd go with Bucannon and target CB in the 3rd, with DE, QB, and TE as possibilities, if there's no value at CB.
  22. http://awfulannouncing.com/2014/your-mlb-local-tv-announcer-rankings.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Ranking of the announce teams, as voted by fans. Len and JD are 5th.
  23. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/exit-strategy-for-nba--donald-sterling--sell-clippers-to-magic-johnson-073015142.html They're going to try and buy the Clippers.
  24. They can't force him to sell. He bought the team for less than 20 mill and its now worth close to a billion. So I doubt he's in financial trouble. While its always POSSIBLE to find a clause somewhere that allows for a suspension, the other owners would likely resist anyway. In fear of something else coming up and a new precedent leads to them getting suspended themselves. Sterling is old, I hope they make enough hell for him to sell. But they're not going to be able to force him to legally. He could tie it up in litigation for the rest of his life, if he wants to. I originally did NOT want the players to sit out. Now I think I'm changing my mind on that. The Civil Rights Act very likely overcomes the player contracts and they'd still get paid. To me, a united front here may be the closest thing there is to forcing him out.
