  1. By the way, Marlins still have 2 supplemental picks-36 and 106. Both are from failure to sign guys previously, so they're not tradeable. I guess I understand why THEY would deal 39 away, but they should have gotten more for it anyway.
  2. At 2, no one in this draft SHOULD be over slot. If anything, my guess is the Marlins gave up that pick so Boras or whoever can't squeeze them for any more cash. But I don't see it affecting who they pick at all.
  3. Bryan Morris to the Marlins for pick 39. If that's all it takes, we need to offer up Blake Parker to get one.
  4. I'm more than a little concerned we've heard nothing on CJ's MRI at this point.
  5. He's probably our most valuable non-player employee. And even including players he's gotta come in the top 10 Important? Sure. Valuable? What positive has he done since Ricketts took over? Well, we could play that game with everyone in this entire organization except for the moles who convinced Houston not to draft Bryant last June. The entire baseball ops plan is completely dependent on business ops getting the renovations done and securing TV deals. Nothing happens until they do their job.

  7. he likes to wear cubs uniforms and he hires greek priests Or he's the face of the business ops department that has had the renovations sat in perpetual standstill.
  8. Kenney extended thru 2019. Wonderful organization.
  9. Yeah, but the [expletive] waited til the 9th. He's getting [expletive] lazy.
  10. He also previously said he'd be shocked if Kolek was the pick. Thanks TT. It does seem like Kolek is an extreme longshot from basically everything now.
  11. Has Marlin said anything draft related recently?
  12. We are in no position to trade both Javy and KB for Stanton currently. He'll be making 15 mill or so next year and only going up from there. Unless we're suddenly going to carry 110-120 mill in payroll immediately, he's just not a fit at THAT price. One or the other, Almora, and more? You could probably make that work, if whichever one of the two that's not dealt still turns into a very good player.
  13. Erling Moreno pitched in the 2nd game of the year, but hasn't pitched since.
  14. It's stupid. But once again, in a time where more negative Cubs press sucks.....All these idiots needed to do was run things by a few people prior to getting their little "rah rah" moment. It just brings into question a bit more just how capable they are at negotiating and completing TV deals and such.
  15. http://thegamechicago.com/2014/05/29/cubs-crane-kenney-its-up-to-us-to-make-sure-landmarks-commission-is-ok-with-what-were-doing/ Podcast of Kenney today on Kap and Haugh http://www.csnchicago.com/cubs/unveiled-see-complete-wrigley-field-rooftop-contract Complete contract with rooftops(thought this had been out there previously)
  16. I have no idea if it'd mean an extra 300 fans per game showing up on average or an extra 1000. Or whatever. That said, Theo would probably err on the cautious side, moving it back a year anyway. Making it a moo point.
  17. To me, it all depends on how close they were to projecting revenue loss over the past couple of years. If we're stuck in this debt structure hell and have missed projecting attendance by quite a bit, I think it's easy to see bringing up Javy, KB, Alcantara, whoever.....To generate extra revenue to help attendance if the plan involves spending more money over the upcoming offseason. Of course, the downside being that they struggle and it deflates fan morale even more than it is already.
  18. Fair enough... And I can definitely see a situation where Nola succeeds in the bigs. But would you be willing to draft him instead of a college hitter? Not directed at me, but in THIS draft? Sure. I think Conforto is the hitter I like the most, but I'm not enamored with any of them. I think I'm to the point that if one of the 3 pitchers doesn't make it to us.....I'd make phone calls to Nola, Pentecost, Zimmer, Jackson, Gordon, Conforto, Freeland, Newcomb, Turner, Hoffman, Holmes, Schwarber, and Toussaint and take whoever is willing to take the least amount. With the intent on finding 2 mill in savings from slot.
  19. http://www.basketballinsiders.com/what-the-bulls-summer-could-look-like/ Excellent look at Bulls options.
  20. I see, thanks. So is MLB accurate 60 fb/ 50 slider / 60 ch? I'm not a scout, by any stretch. It's subjective. Aaron Fitt, at BA, would disagree with those numbers for sure. Certain reports I've seen have the SL at a 60 and the CH at a 50. I've seen reports that his hard curve is a 60 pitch. But I guess the general consensus says he's not got a plus-plus pitch or just overwhelming stuff, in general.
  21. Velo alone doesn't give you a plus or plus-plus pitch. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being labeled a "3" on the true scouting scale. There are about 10 "1's" and not that many more "2's". Where Nola fails to generate more than a 3 on that scale is the lack of a plus-plus pitch. He grades out as a 60 or so on multiple offerings. But nothing more than that. The thing that he DOES have that can change things up and it's acknowledged quite a bit-He does have plus-plus command. Which could turn him into more than a 3.
  22. I'm starting to hope Beede falls to us in the 2nd.
  23. http://www.asmi.org/research.php?page=research&section=TJpositionstatement Andrews on TJS.
  24. So, Rahm says the plan isn't ready for June 5th meeting. Cubs have work to do. What a [expletive] joke.
  25. I'm impressed. It's mostly reasonable discussion over there. Other than the dude proposing Ubaldo and Reimold for him.
