  1. Rodon seems a lock at 2 now, according to Sharma. Kiley says his bonus demands are 6 mill+. Honestly, the Marlins are equipped to give it to him. Plus, he's from Miami, has Cuban roots.... Starting to look like 4 is definitely a bat.
  2. Freeland's medicals appear to have him dropping, according to Kiley. May still go 8, but at a discount.
  3. That sounds crazy low Huh. I thought it sounded like way too much for a guy who sounds awfully scrubby. None of us know what the guy ends up being. My guesstimate is based off him being relatively young and him being considered a 4/5 innings eater type. The age being the main reason he gets as much as I said.
  4. My initial guess on money for this guy is the 20 mill posting fee, with a 4/40 type deal.
  5. That article is behind a paywall, what's the bump up for? The radio deal or speculation on TV deal? The WGN part of the TV deal. Up from 250k. Also- Have reached out to FOX, but no serious negotiations have taken place.
  6. http://my.chicagotribune.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-80411950/ Bump up to 500k per game? LOL.
  7. @KevinDruley: #Cougars RHP Paul Blackburn exits w/ 2 on, 2 out in first and trailing, 2-0. Walked 3. Was fine physically, just lofty pitch count Does that make sense? He hit his pitch count within six batters? Or do they have some pitch-count-per-inning thing? the rest between innings re-oxygenates the muscle? After 30 pitches per inning you're out? I've seen Hoyer mention pitch counts per inning recently. Maybe after the high pitch count game of Shark. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they've got something implemented for it.
  8. Sharma says if Aiken/Rodon gone(likely), then Conforto/Gordon are top guys, with Schwarber/Pentecost in the mix. Jackson/Nola are out. Edit: Says Kolek still in discussion, but on outskirts, like Schwarber/Pentecost.
  9. Hoyer came out and denied any rumors of us looking at a comp pick as part of a Shark deal. No idea if Shark has made his mind up that he wants out or not, but I honestly believe we WANT to keep him. It's not going to shock me at all if he's not dealt at the deadline. I can see the FO thinking that a nice addition or 2 in the offseason, with the pending arrival of Javy and KB, could help tempt Shark into signing an extension. If not, I think he'll get dealt in the offseason for sure.
  10. Are we sure Jimenez is still getting sent down?
  11. My preferences.....(changes all the time, but I'm trying to stick to this) Rodon at slot plus 5% Aiken at slot plus 5% Nola at slot - 1 mill Hoffman at 3 mill or under Jackson at slot Schwarber, Pentecost, or Conforto at 3 mill or under Gordon at slot -500k Options 3-7 are close to interchangeable. And no, I don't think Hoffman is a legit candidate for the FO. My guess at the FO's 6 are Aiken, Rodon, Pentecost, Schwarber, Conforto, and Nola.
  12. I don't think it's 0% on Aiken, maybe 20%. For him to fall, Luhnow needs to get scared of taking another pitcher at 1, when there's serious concerns with his last one. And this time, it's a HS kid, to boot. They could take Rodon(further along in dev anyway) or take a bat at a huge discount. Either way, my guess is Jackson or Kolek goes 2 here in this scenario. White Sox take Rodon or Nola.....Aiken's there at 4. Rodon is more feasible. Aiken, Jackson, Kolek or Nola and Rodon is available.
  13. I'm hoping we're making life hell on the 3 teams above us. If we let Boras know we'll pay up for Rodon, he could help facilitate him falling to us. I can't see us outbidding Houston on him, their slot is too much. But the Marlins and White Sox could easily be scared off, in my opinion.
  14. The haul would have to be enormous and near major league ready for me not to be pissed off. Even Kyle was kidding there.
  15. You're wanting something that's not even a possibility.
  16. CJ's MRI clean, FO debating on when to put him back on mound.
  17. I've clamored for years that all we needed was a gray haired, .400 OPS in Iowa, old ass Catcher. Thank God it's today!
  18. So the whole "Jackson is McLeod's favorite prospect ever" is completely off.
  19. Javy taken out of lineup after giving BP a try.
  20. What's been up with you lately? You're starting to make another turn toward cranky. Well [expletive], we all did just watch a dude get his eyeballs gauged out, followed by an exploding head. I'm giving everyone a pass for a few days.
  21. For the first time in a long time, I agree with Kyle here. Maybe not being dominant, but this guy should be able to get most High A ball guys out with his stuff, even if they do know what's coming. The hitters are not that refined at that level.
  22. 1 Aiken 2 Rodon 3 Kolek 4 Jackson, Nola, or Freeland
  23. If you can, how about Nola, Freeland, and Holmes?
  24. I'll be pissed if Rodon or Aiken is there and we pass for any hitter. I was definitively in Kolek's camp, I won't be "happy" if we pass on him, but I won't get pissed either. I WILL be pissed if we give full slot at 4 to any hitter other than Jackson, who I can at least reason out that he's worth it. If we take Pentecost, Conforto, Schwarber(not seeing us connected, just an example), I want us far under slot. I can probably find a reason to be happy with 10-15 options at 4 though, depending on what's done afterwards.
