  1. It's really [expletive] simple. 1) Manny can provide serious value in mentoring Javy or whoever. Doubtful that Sammy has the want to do that. 2)More important-PTR holds nothing against Manny. His crimes weren't against the Cubs. In his mind, Sammy's are, or else he'd have been back long ago.
  2. Javy with a single in the 4th, 1-2 so far.
  3. I was about to ask which of the 2 has more value. My guess is Olt, but I'm not sure.
  4. Hammel, Russell and Olt? Or Valbuena.
  5. This is surely being looked at as a long term audition, right? To see if Manny could work out as a hitting coach. Can't complain about Mueller, but maybe as a 2nd major league hitting coach or a permanent job at Iowa, maybe?
  6. Tim, he had a very big influence on Matt Kemp.
  7. http://m.newyorker.com/reporting/2007/04/23/070423fa_fact_mcgrath?currentPage=all Great article on Manny.
  8. Two things:1) with half the site unaware of a minor league forum, my guess is there will be at least 5 threads in other forums created for this. 2) The guy truly knows hitting, almost savant like. This is going to help Javy, KB, whoever.
  9. AA just told Bowden they're looking for SP, a LHRP, and a longterm answer at either 2B or 3B. We fit them EXTREMELY well.
  10. No way are the Yanks going to trade Betances. They love him. A one for one of Hammel for Norris would make me very happy. But I kind of suspect the Feldman model. Floundering starter with some upside and an inconsistent reliever or position player. If you could somehow get 2 of Drabek, Gose, Happ, and Nolin-I'd be OK with it. Or one from that group and one of Tirado, Osuna, DeJong, Nay, or Barreto.
  11. It's all about command with him and whether or not it comes in and when it does Because his FB and slider aren't getting any faster anyway. Law or someone was talking about this the other day. If he's there at 4, I'd jump on it, but I guess I get why a team wouldn't. If they don't see the potential there with the command.
  12. They'll coincide it with at least attempting to keep to the "500 AAA AB" rule. Also known as "The gain an extra year of control"rule.
  13. I hate to say it, but other than younger IFA's, I don't see us signing any large(3years and up) type contracts until we have seen Javy and KB in the majors.
  14. I think that the A prospect acquired in the deal needs to have better odds than Crick does of reaching their ceiling or coming close to it.
  15. In one of these blowouts, I really want to see Junior on the mound.
  16. David wins NSBB tonight though with the UHF gif. Weeavvvvaaaaa, LETS SEE WHAT'S IN THE BOX!!!!!!
  17. Five Guys all the way for me. not a big fan fries are ok though I've had to spend an awful lot of time in South Carolina recently and there's an expanding chain called Cookout that may be my new favorite actually. I'd rather go somewhere and get an actual good burger than one of these tiny burger over priced crap holes you guys like. And yes, I've had them. I've had a Black Label Burger before. A client went on and on about them, it was excellent. But it's a burger. Not life changing or anything. That said, I'll get snobby on steaks and seafood.

  19. Clearly you're not a Saved by the Bell fan. Not even possible.
  20. But Bryant was an 18th rounder at that stage of his career, so how the [expletive] are they very comparable? No. He was a 1st rounder that fell strictly due to an extremely strong commitment. Toronto offered him 3 mill and he still went to school. Was going to say that even if he was an overslot, it's not like he was gonna be a top 5 pick or something... If so, that's craziness. Guess it worked out. Even then, there was no real sequence for when you took high end talent. Maples was a 1st round talent we drafted in the 14th. Dunston was a top 100ish type we got late(11th maybe?) It would have needed to be like the Pirates did with Josh Bell. He was very adamant about going to school, but Pittsburgh took him early(2nd maybe?) and threw 5 mill at him. Which he took obviously. I'm not thinking Bryant was a top 5 guy or anything, but he was definitely a 1st rounder. And in some cases, it's possible his stock dropped a bit due to less interest, with him almost definitely headed to college.
