i don't think it's as simple as want or don't want, it's about getting a haul for him or not getting a haul for him. I think the FO knows how risky it is, trading for pitching prospects. No, it doesn't keep them from dealing for them, but I think it drives up the price. The first part of why I think he may stay is no one will meet our price. Secondly, I truly do think the FO would like to keep him. And before giving him true "ace" money, I think they want to see him perform as one. Which leads us to part 3, which is a problem currently. I doubt Shark wants to be here. But he did at one time and his mind can change again. KB and Javy could help change his mind. So could spending some money this offseason. In the end, I just think things come together at some point in the offseason. No one meets our price at the deadline, we make a move or two, he gets happy again, we budge in contract talks, he re-signs.....
