  1. I could see Soler being the only major league youngster they'd deal currently. My guess is Javy is too versatile for them to move. My guess is Contreras is off limits, but everyone else could be had. This is unless true superstar talent becomes available, but even then, I wonder if we'd deplete everything depthwise, when it likely doesn't truly increase our postseason chances.
  2. He's never thrown more than 87 innings in a season. And he's already at 41 now. Friedman isn't going to kill him. My guess is he's not really a huge factor at the major league level this year.
  3. The beauty of him, especially once his glove became a non-issue, is that teams will be interested in him so long as he's not [expletive] the bed. He just has such as an interesting profile as a switch hitter with a good eye, contact, power potential, and the ability to play a non-1B IF position. He had aloooooooooooot of fans in the AFL, and every org has eyes out there. Even good timing with ST...I'd bet the Yankees love him if there was any way to confirm that hunch. I agree, it would be awesome if he could be the main/most significant piece in a Miller trade. I'd think Miller hurts to deal for. The Yanks don't sell, figure they'll be back next year.....My honest guess is a Miller package starts with Torres, if we truly want him. I'd say Torres/Candelario/Vogelbach/Clifton or something else along those lines. They have leverage and they'll use it in that case for sure.
  4. He's a FB/SL guy. He was typically throwing 90ish as a starter, while trying to add in a change that never developed. Out of the pen though, he's throwing 95-96. AZPhil thought he was definitely getting protected this off season. He's older, but he's definitely got a shot as a middle reliever. I'd say he's a decent bet to log a few major league innings this year for us at some point.
  5. Eloy and EJM go back to back in the first.....
  6. Dead arm for Kellogg? Topping out around 75 or so? Probably lol! I actually admire your persistence with that guy. I thought he'd dominate the Midwest League myself. If the velo doesn't come around this year though, I'd go ahead and try him as a reliever-assuming that'd put him throwing 91-93 for an inning or so.
  7. Nothing much going on tonight...I'm running with a dead arm period for Kellogg, another bad outing with BBs and a HR. Others did stuff but it's May and none of this really matters. Actually scratch that - Underwood continues to confirm that he sucks. Dead arm for Kellogg? Topping out around 75 or so?
  8. Candelario with 4-5, 2 2B and a HR included. 7 RBI.
  9. Jesus, I think Jorge tried catching that with his dick.
  10. What fresh nonsense is this? I know he's been pretty good getting out of self-induced jams but he's been consistently rattled by tight zones, losing no-hitters, base runners running wild, etc since becoming a Cub. He's rattled by losing no hitters.......
  11. Everything rattles him, unfortunately Post of the Day nominee.
  12. Too scary for me. Lots of money, injury concerns, and high acquisition cost. I'd take any of the others(Archer, Gray, Fernandez, Corbin, Teheran) over him once all things are considered. Edit- Cashman doesn't seem the type to package guys together either. But who knows? I don't think he's ever sold before. I'd love to add Miller. In fact, I voted for a reliever if we could only add one piece. At any rate, all things considered, I'd take plenty of others over Tanaka. Not necessarily from a talent standpoint, but weighing it all out, I think there's better options for us. What's the trade cost for a Tanaka compared to those other guys? That's a rough one - if you're scared to pay up for Tanaka then you should probably be crapping your pants at the cost for a Fernandez or really any of those guys. Heck, what's his injury risk compared to the others? Two of the guys listed have already had TJ surgery and Archer's probably a bigger injury risk today than Tanaka is. I figure the extra years of control would heighten the cost on Tanaka. Of course, his salary would bring it back down somewhat. Hamels maybe a comp? He's not as good as him and has some injury history, but maybe a package like that, minus one top 100 guy? I'd prefer a guy coming off TJS than a guy who's avoided it, albeit with concerns. Plus, my true guess is the Yankees won't trade him anyway. They're not going to rebuild and with Strasburg off the market, they've got no options to replace him. Not since they can't really compete with some other teams in the trade market.
  13. I don't think Fed being here says anything negative about WC. I think the FO truly wants him to get as much experience as possible in the minors. They don't want to yo-yo him and they obviously like some sort of intangible Fed brings. Its hard to argue with how our FO goes about player development. I'll gladly just take their track record and figure they're making the right decision.

  15. Wow, I thought Zobrist's power was likely gone for the most part. Evidently not.
  16. So that was a double if Soler was in LF......
  17. Good lord Addy must not see this guy at all.
  18. Basketball game, but I sat behind a guy in Charlotte that kept screaming stuff at AC Green....."Hey AC, can you teach my kid about the birds and the bees?" "AC, have you been given the talk yet?" " AC, are you on good terms with your weiner?" And many more. Worthy cracked up while AC was on the line.
  19. Cubs have a team option for 2017, it turns into a mutual option if he hits enough incentives.
  20. I honestly didn't realize Nathan was 41.
  21. The road to 20 over is fraught with peril. oh look who has the balls to show his face around here again... I will shun from posting if I cause a losing streak. We're winning this one though.
