  1. I don't want the next qb starting until the O line is 1000% better so I definitely want jay next year. But that ship has probably passed. Romo as a stopgap is my guess
  2. God, Pace and GarPax must hate Theo with a passion.
  3. Hope no one got too attached to that poor bastard.
  4. Schlitter 2.0, also known as Spencer Patton, has been cut. So we're at 38 currently. I don't have any reason to think so, but I suspect we make a pre Thanksgiving Day move.....
  5. I'm fine with him in CF. Having Heyward in RF helps a ton and I feel comfortable enough with our positioning that i think he'd be fine.
  6. [tweet] [/tweet] Figured this is so delicious, it goes here and not the Cards thread.
  7. So, if we don't want to go 4-5 years on Dex(Ralph predicted 5/90).....I see Brett Gardner got mentioned with us. I'd be OK with that. 2/26 and an option left on his deal. Platoon him and Almora and we may not even lose much from Dex.

  9. Hudson regressed by what we've seen out of BA this past season. Supposedly, he had a very solid Instructs.
  10. Eugene, Myrtle Beach, Chicago and the Mesa Solar Sox this year. Jesus, even "That's so Cub" wound up being right.
  11. I'm kind of floored someone actually typed that out. That's pretty much what he did in '15 and '16 no? I just really don't want to get bent over again at the trade deadline when it's something that could have been addressed in the offseason. I don't think our bullpen was a weakness during '15 or '16. Giving up Torres sucked. But it helped us win a WS. I don't think we got bent over at all. Prospects are currency and we're already loaded.

  13. LMFAO
  14. If we sign a non closing lefty, who's the preference? Boone Logan, Jerry Blevins, Mike Dunn, JP Howell, or Marc Rzepcynski?
  15. Sign Dex 4/68 Sign Jerry Blevins 2/10 Sign Greg Holland 2/24 Sign Gregor Bianco 1/7 Trade Soler and Ryan Williams to Philly for Jake Thompson and Edubray Ramos (These are post Brett Cecil prices)
  16. Yeppers.....
  17. If that's all it'd take for him, what's the point of them even trading him?
  18. I think they'd want a much more valuable lead piece, and I'm not sure they'd want Candelario, with Ramirez being young.
  19. Looking at teams that need corner OF help, here's what I come up with, for poitential Soler landing spots.... Toronto, Cleveland, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Baltimore, White Sox, Arizona, Oakland, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and San Diego..... Keep coming back to Taijuan Walker personally. Soler wouldn't get him by himself, but he's a guy I'm hopeful about anyway. Part of a package for Gray makes sense. Atlanta has Wisler or Blair that's probably in the same value range. Clevinger in Cleveland? Bradley, Corbin, even Miller in Arizona? Tampa supposedly isn't a fan of Soler, so even though they have a need, I'll pass them up. Toronto or Baltimore don't have enough ML pitching, to trade from. Osuna would be nice though. I'm wary of the White Sox even dealing with us, but a Soler+ for Nate Jones move makes a bit of sense. I don't see any ML fits with SD, nor do I even trust trading with them. Jake Thompson and Zach Eflin both are interesting for Philadelphia. Thompson being the one I'd prefer. If we move him, I'd definitely prefer to get immediate help back. I'm not searching thru for pitching prospects in the 50-200 range that you could see being exchanged in a one for one or maybe a couple of the lower end guys for him. And yes, its definitely possible we move him in a deal where he's not really the lead piece. My honest guess though is we move him separately, so we don't deplete the depth we've built.
  20. Adding young talent is rarely a bad thing. People used to be confused why we traded Shark for another..... SS. They signed the 32 year old Gurriel. He may wind up being decent, but he's not young talent.
  21. He's missing 2017. If he's open to signing a rehab deal, where he gives us an incentive laden secdond year, then sure. Why not? Since he's missing this season though, I doubt he'll be in a hurry to sign.
  22. Why does that matter? If anything, it just means you'd have him for 6 seasons and may not have to worry about ever giving him a multi- year deal. He throws hard and K's a bunch of guys. I'll be extremely surprised if he's not added by someone. Because having team control of a run of the mill bullpen prospect means less when he's going to start losing velocity halfway through that team control. Rivero is no different than any of the guys the Cubs play waiver roulette with every November, except the Cubs have been working with him for years and don't think he's worthy. Obviously, the Cubs don't like him or they'd have added him. He may lose velo at some point. He may not though. If he's throwing mid to upper 90's currently, my guess is teams will look at what they see and not at the unknown. If anything, I could see a team trying to contend adding him and looking at it as buying cheap production for however long he lasts.
